Chapter 50 - More Surprises
Kaleigh was finishing training with the she-wolves when she felt a little ping in her abdomen. She was immediately worried that something was wrong with her pup, but Skylar reassured her the pup was fine. Skylar also told Kaleigh she should see the pack doctor because she thinks they're in for a surprise.

No matter how much Kaleigh begged, Skylar wouldn't tell her what she was talking about. She told her to mindlink Dominick and have him meet her at the clinic. Kaleigh did as Skylar said and headed toward the clinic. In her rush, she didn't notice that someone had been watching her from across the training facility.

When Dominick got Kaleigh's mindlink to meet him at the clinic because they needed to see the doctor, he was immediately alarmed that something was wrong with their pup. Ash was acting very smug like he knew something but wasn't willing to tell Dominick.

Kaleigh was waiting for him in front of the clinic, and he breathed a little better when he saw she wasn't looking worried. Dominick walked right up to her, and before she could speak, he kissed her deeply. They may have only been separated for a couple of hours while she trained some of the she-wolves, but it felt like days to him.

"What's going on, Kaleigh? Why do we need to see the doctor?" Dominick ran his hand over her cheek.

"I honestly don't know. I felt something weird in my abdomen and thought something was wrong with the pup, but Skylar said the pup was fine. She also said we need to see the doctor because there is a surprise." Kaleigh looked at Dominick and knew he was thinking the same thing she was. Do they really need any more surprises right now?

"Okay, Kaleigh, let's go in and see Dr. Galt."

They walked into the clinic hand in hand. To their surprise, the receptionist said the doctor was expecting them, and they could go straight back to his office. Kaleigh and Dominick looked at each other in confusion, wondering what was going on.

When they got to Dr. Galt's office, they knocked and went in when he told them to. Dr. Galt was a short round man with thinning hair. He always had a smile on his face, and right now was no different.

"Hello kids, it's good to see you. Come in and take a seat. I was getting ready to call and ask you to come in when Erica said you were already here. I have a few things to discuss from the tests we did last week." Kaleigh and Dominick sat across from Dr. Galt, sitting at his desk. They held each other's hands tightly. Meanwhile, their wolves were laughing and dancing, confusing their humans.

"Dr. Galt, is everything alright with our pup?" Kaleigh asked nervously.

"Yes, dear, everything is perfect with your pregnancy. All of your tests came back completely fine. I need to talk to you about what we found on your ultrasound. I know the tech showed you the images during your test, and you could hear the heartbeat, but when I examined the images, I found something." Dr. Galt smiled at the young couple in reassurance.

"What did you find, Dr. Galt?" Dominick asked in confusion. He was there for the ultrasound and didn't know how the doctor could decipher anything from the squiggly lines.

"I think it's better that I show you." Dr. Galt turned the computer screen toward Kaleigh and Dominick before walking around the desk. He used his mouse to click play and the ultrasound video played for them.

Kaleigh and Dominick watched it, but they saw nothing different than what they saw the first time. They looked up at the doctor with questioning looks on both their faces. Dr. Galt began laughing.

"Here, let me show you again, and I will stop it so you can see." Dr. Galt was still softly chuckling.

He played the video again and, this time, stopped it midway through. Both Kaleigh and Dominick were intently focused on the screen, but they couldn't make anything out.

"What are you showing us?" Kaleigh asked with concern.

"Do you see this small bean shape?" Dominick and Kaleigh nodded, looking to where he pointed.
"That is a pup. Now, do you see this second bean shape?" Again they nodded. "Kids, that's pup number two. Congratulations, you're having twins."

Dominick and Kaleigh were speechless. Skylar and Ash, on the other hand, were strutting around like proud parents. Kaleigh couldn't believe it. They were having twins? She looked at Dominick, who was still looking at the screen, as shocked as she was.

"Are you sure, Dr. Galt?" Kaleigh asked quietly.

"Yes, young lady, I'm positive. You're having twins, it's too soon to know their sexes, but we can do another ultrasound in a couple of months to find that out." Kaleigh looked back at the screen while it sunk in.

"Dominick, are you alright?" Kaleigh was worried that this was too much for him. They had so much going on right now. Finding out they were having twins may push him over the edge. To her surprise, when Dominick looked at her, he had tears in his eyes.

"Kaleigh, I'm beyond words happy right now." Dominick suddenly jumped up and pulled Kaleigh into his arms. He started swinging her around in circles making her giggle uncontrollably from his excitement. She had never seen this type of reaction from him.

"Okay, proud papa, we're having twins. That means double the trouble or double the fun." Kaleigh smiled up at him, still loving the happiness on his face.

"I say double the fun. Let's go and tell my parents and Felicia. They are going to be ecstatic." They thanked Dr. Galt and ran out of the office toward the packhouse. With all the stress going on around them, it was good to feel this giddiness, even if it was only for a short time.

Dominick mindlinked his parents and Felicia asking them all to meet them in his and Kaleigh's office. They said they would be there in a few minutes. Kaleigh and Dominick sat behind the desk, trying to stifle their laughter. They didn't want to let on that it was good news they needed to share.

When the trio walked into the office with worried looks, Kaleigh and Dominick had trouble holding back their smiles. After they sat down, Dominick began talking, trying to sound formal, with some difficulty.

"Thank you all for coming so quickly. We have an update for you. Kaleigh and I just came from Dr. Galt's office. He had the results from her tests last week." Dominick stopped talking to compose himself and saw the worry grow in their eyes, making him feel a little guilty for dragging this out.

"Spit it out, son. What did the doctor say." Alpha Dillon was in no playing mood when it came to the health and well-being of his grandchild.

"Well, Dr. Galt looked over the ultrasound and found something unexpected." Everyone's eyes got bigger, almost in unison. Kaleigh was having a terrible time not laughing.

"What was it?" Felicia asked almost in a whisper, worried about her niece or nephew.

"I'm sorry, Felicia, you won't be an aunt to one pup. You will be an aunt to two pups. We're having twins." Dominick and Kaleigh started chuckling at the others, who were still in shock.

"Did you say, twins?" Luna Alannah was the first to speak. She looked at her son and his mate, who both had huge smiles.

"Yes, Luna, we are having twins. The ultrasound can't tell us their sexes yet, but we should know in a couple of months. Skylar said she would probably know before the next ultrasound." Alannah started crying as she jumped up and ran to the couple.

"You have just brought a ray of sunshine into the darkness that has been surrounding us. The twins will be the pride of the pack because they came at a time we needed hope more than anything." She hugged Kaleigh and Dominick, kissing them both on the cheek.

Alpha Dillon was still trying to process that he was getting two grandchildren and not just one. He would get to spoil two pups. Dillon was already thinking of all the fun they would have. He went over to Kaleigh and Dominick, hugging them as well.

Felicia was the only one with dry eyes as the others cried happily. She jumped up, clapping her hands and squealing in delight. She was determined to be the best aunt they could ever have. No one better mess with them, or they would have to answer to her.

Felicia ran over to Kaleigh and almost knocked her over with her enthusiasm. Kaleigh laughed at the teenagers' excitement.

"Thank you, Kaleigh, for coming into our lives. You have changed everything for the better since you became Dom's mate. I can't wait to meet the twins. We are going to have so much fun." Felicia hugged Kaleigh again and then hugged her brother.

As they all began making plans for the nursery, they didn't realize someone was listening to their conversation. The person smiled to themself with the news he had overheard. He was sure Josephine would pay him well for this information. Brett was an idiot to think he was the only spy.

Josephine had a few of them because she knew some spies wouldn't be loyal to her. He laughed to himself; he was only loyal to money. If she didn't pay him well, he might give the information to someone who would. He was tired of being part of this pack in the middle of nowhere. It was time to get out.

He walked through the packhouse, smiling at those he passed. No one would ever suspect he was working for the other side. He laughed to himself, thinking this should be the pack of fools.
