Chapter 28 - The Moon Goddess

Kaleigh was lying in bed, thinking about the day ahead. She would have to get busy talking with the key players of the plan to take down Dark Sphere. She first needed to ask Dominick to call Lenny and see if he and Allie could return early. They both had essential roles, and she needed time to prepare them. Kaleigh also had to talk to Allie when she arrived because she didn’t know that Kaleigh was a hybrid. Kaleigh expected Allie may be hurt, but hopefully, she would understand why it was necessary to keep it secret.

Kaleigh looked up at Dominick, who was still sleeping. It had been a long night indeed, but she had not been able to sleep. After seeing what her stone had shown her, there were too many things for her to think about. Everything was still running through her mind; it had been like a very fast movie at the time. She could now think through each part of it with more clarity. Kaleigh understood that the only way to stop them was to let herself get captured; she would not give them the stone, though.

Keeping the stone out of Brielle’s hands was the key to making this work and the survival of everyone. She already knew who would be keeping the stone for safekeeping until time to return it to Kaleigh, but she had to make sure that person understood that no one else could know she had it. Kaleigh didn’t like keeping parts of the plan from Dominick, but she also knew that was the only way for them to get through this. Skylar understood that she had to keep this information from Ash as well. It would be a little more challenging to have secrets now that they had marked each other. Dominick would every time Kaleigh was worried or scared.

As she was still lying there deep in thought, Kaleigh suddenly felt like she had an out-of-body experience. She was floating very fast, and she couldn’t tell where she was going. Kaleigh was scared at first, but Skylar told her it would be okay. When they finally came to a stop, Kaleigh looked around and gasped. She was on top of a high snow-topped mountain. It was beautiful; she thought she could see the end of the Earth from up there. There were miles and miles of mountains and trees as far as she could see. Kaleigh knew that she was not in this spot in human form but more like a dream. When she turned around, she saw that she was not alone.

The most beautiful woman she had ever seen was standing a few feet behind her. Her hair was so black it looked blue, and it fell in waves to her knees. Her skin was pale to the point it appeared translucent, almost like she was glowing. Her eyes were a clear crystal blue that were piercing yet friendly. The woman did not seem real like she was a figment of Kaleigh’s imagination. She was wearing a light blue dress that was thin and seemed to flow around her. Kaleigh was speechless, she didn’t know who this was, but she felt like bowing to her.

“Hello, Kaleigh. I am sorry that this is how we are meeting, but it was necessary as you get prepared for the Dark Sphere witches.” The woman’s voice was soft and crystal clear. It almost seemed like she was talking more in a whisper of the wind than actually speaking.

“Who are you?” Was all Kaleigh could get out. She didn’t even want to blink, afraid that she would wake up from this dream.

“I am the Moon Goddess. My name is Zosia.” Kaleigh gasped. She never imagined seeing the moon goddess in person, in a dream, or whatever this was.

“Why have you brought me here?” Kaleigh’s legs were shaking. She was intrigued yet scared at the same time. Skylar tried to calm her down, telling her the Moon Goddess was there to help.

“I am here to provide you some help. You have special abilities that you are unaware of, and now the time has come where I need to show you your true potential.” The Moon Goddess smiled at Kaleigh kindly.

“I don’t understand. I already know I am a witch and a werewolf. What other abilities do I have?” Kaleigh was still shocked that she was having a conversation with the Moon Goddess, but she was more confused about what help she could give her.

“As you know, your wolf Skylar is split right down the middle, half black and half white. Do you know why that is?” Kaleigh was even more confused now. What does the color of her wolf have to do with anything?

“No, Skylar thought maybe one side represented my being a witch and the other being a werewolf.” Skylar seemed just as confused as Kaleigh now.

“Your wolf is more special than you know. She is not the typical werewolf; she holds powers that are all her own. The type of wolf she is only comes out in times of conflict to help bring peace. She does not realize it, but she holds the knowledge of both pure magic and black magic. That is why her coloring it like it is. Some black magic can only be fought with other black magic. Skylar will be able to assist you more than you realize when you are held, hostage.” Kaleigh and Skylar were both stunned into silence. Neither of them had thought that Skylar carried any extraordinary power that was not directly connected to Kaleigh. The moon goddess continued.

“Skylar is considered a protector wolf. These wolves have extremely powerful magic to protect the innocent. Skylar, I am going to release the knowledge to you now. As it is only released when necessary. You will now know all you need to know to assist Kaleigh in this battle. I am sorry that it has come to this for both you and your new pack, but it cannot be helped. You two are the only ones who can defeat these witches and save the world from their dark magic. In doing this, you are saving all humans and weres alike.” Kaleigh dropped to her knees as she felt like a ton of bricks had just been put on her shoulders.

She was not scared of doing her part, but she did not realize it was bigger than just her pack. Kaleigh quickly shook off the shock and stood back up. Skylar was still absorbing all the knowledge the moon goddess had released to her, and she felt a little overwhelmed. She was not the one who usually tinkered with magic. That had always been Kaleigh’s thing. However, from what she understood, she could do spells that were separate from her human and would be hidden from the Dark Sphere witches. They did not know a wolf like her even existed.

“Moon Goddess, does this mean we will be able to save our pack and the ones we love?” Kaleigh was scared to ask the question, but she needed to know.

“I’m afraid there will be casualties as there are in any war, but this will give you a better defense. I am the one who activated your stone yesterday, allowing you to see into the future. Witches do not follow me as I am the moon goddess only to werewolves, but as you are a hybrid, I was able to speak to you through your stone. It was the best way to let you know what path you should take for maximum results.” Kaleigh felt lighthearted and energized now. She was not alone in this. She and Skylar would work together to keep everyone safe.

“Thank you, moon goddess; we will not let you down.” Kaleigh slightly bowed to her.

“Kaleigh, you could never let me down. I better let you return to your mates now. They will be waking up soon. You can share this information about Skylar with your mates, but please do not share it with anyone else. It is too valuable to let this secret out. One other thing, there is a witch from Dark Sphere searching for you on behalf of Brielle. When she finds you, let her speak to you. She is not what she seems. Goodbye for now.” Suddenly the Moon Goddess was gone, and Kaleigh was back in bed, lying in Dominick’s arms.

Kaleigh blinked a few times, trying to figure out if she had imagined all of that or was dreaming. Skylar laughed and said it was neither one. They really had spoken to the moon goddess. Skylar was running around in circles, happy with all her new knowledge. Kaleigh laughed at her wolf’s excitement.

“What’s so funny, sweetheart?” Dominick’s voice in her ear startled her.

“You will never believe what I have to tell you.” Kaleigh smiled at Dominick as he looked at her in confusion.
