Chapter 40 - Good vs. Evil

Brielle's whip hit Kaleigh on her arm below her sleeve. Kaleigh felt the burn from the silver, but she was more worried that it would affect Skylar. Brille laughed as she raised her whip again, this time hitting Kaleigh across her abdomen. Luckily her shirt prevented her from feeling too much of the burn.

*"Skylar, are you okay? Is there any way that we can get out of this?"* Kaleigh was distraught that the silver would be too much for them.

* "I am okay for now, Kaleigh. I am trying to figure out the best way to stop Brielle or stop the effects of the silver. I know we don't have much time, but if we can distract her, I think that might help." * Skylar and Kaleigh both winced as Brille hit Kaleigh's leg with the whip. Kaleigh thought about the best approach to distract Brielle and thought about the stone.

"Exactly what do you think you will do with my stone Brielle, besides killing yourself?" Kaleigh yelled at Brielle and quickly glanced at a terrified Celeste in the corner. Kaleigh was glad Brielle seemed to have forgotten she was there.

Brielle held her whip in place and thought about what Kaleigh had said. She was thinking of all the wonderful things that the stone would be able to do for her, as long as she didn't touch it directly. Brielle had to expel the power from it, but it would kill her if she touched the stone with it knowing her evil intentions.

"Kaleigh, Kaleigh, Kaleigh, I know I can't touch it, but that doesn't mean the power won't benefit me. The power from that stone will make me the all-powerful." Brielle grinned wickedly while she thought about her plans.

Kaleigh, meanwhile, was trying to decide what they should do. She wasn't ready for the real stone yet. First, she had to make Brielle realize that what she had in her possession was a fake. Brielle watched Kaleigh and got ready to whip her again when Kaleigh's words stopped her.

"Brielle, you call me an idiot for wearing the stone in front of you. How can you be so sure that what you have is the actual stone? Do you really think I would flaunt it in front of you? How do you even know I have the stone? You are so sure of yourself, yet you can't see what is right in front of you." Kaleigh smirked at Brielle.

Brielle paused before whipping her again. She reached in her pocket and pulled out the necklace, examining it, wondering if Kaleigh was toying with her or not. Just in case Kaleigh was trying to get her to touch the stone, Brielle laid the necklace on a large rock. She said a spell over it, making the charm open to reveal the stone inside.

Brielle scrutinized the stone, looking at it carefully. It was beautiful, but she couldn't tell if it was the real stone or not. Brielle closed her eyes and held her hands above the stone to feel the power coming from it. She had her hands over it for several minutes and then picked up the stone-throwing it across the cave.

"Where is my stone? I want it now, or I will kill you." Brielle was fuming. She hadn't thought this witch was smart enough to fool her.

"I told you, Brielle, you will never get my stone." Kaleigh smirked at the still angry Brielle.

"How did you trick me? How did you block me from seeing what you did with it? My potions are flawless; you couldn't have hidden that from me." Brielle squinted at Kaleigh, wondering what else the witch was hiding from her.

"Nothing is flawless, Brielle; you should know that more than anyone. You would have known about me when you killed my parents if it was. Brielle, you think you are so high and mighty, yet, you keep letting a young witch like me get over on you. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot." Kaleigh closed her eyes and said a few words under her breath.

Brielle wondered what Kaleigh was doing as she watched her. To her surprise, the black tentacles holding Kaleigh in place suddenly shriveled up, and Kaleigh landed softly on her feet. Brielle was shocked; if the witch could remove herself, why did she allow herself to be whipped?

Kaleigh smirked at Brielle as she slowly walked toward her. Skylar said she was ready for some fun and wanted to let Brielle know she was not running anything. She used her black magic knowledge to release Kaleigh from the tentacles.

"How did you do that? Without the stone, there is no way that you could overpower my magic." Brielle's eyes were as big as saucers as she watched Kaleigh walk fearlessly toward her.

"You are not the only one with tricks up her sleeve. You underestimated me, Brielle, and now you will pay for it." Kaleigh raised her hands toward Brielle and sent her flying against the far wall in the cave. Skylar said the spell, but they did not want Brielle to know that Kaleigh's wolf also had magic.

Brielle landed hard against the cave wall and fell to the ground. She wasn't injured, other than her pride, but she didn't like the look Kaleigh had in her eyes. Brielle felt a trickle of fear wash over her as she watched Kaleigh come toward her again.

"Emerald Stone witch, you won't do that to me again and get away with it. I am more powerful than you. Kaleigh, you may have caught me off guard once, but it won't happen again."

Brielle spun in a circle, chanting. Kaleigh didn't know what she was trying to do, but whatever it was, it didn't seem like it was working because Kaleigh was still standing there unaffected.

Skylar was laughing in Kaleigh's head, saying that Brielle had tried to have Kaleigh frozen in place. Brielle had only wanted Kaleigh's mouth to work while the rest of her was in pain. Brielle's face was redder than ever.

Celeste, who'd been watching everything, was shrinking as far as she could into the corner where she was standing. When Brielle got this mad, no one wanted to be in her path; however, Kaleigh laughed at her. Celeste was hopeful the young witch could defeat Brielle.

"I don't think your spell worked, Brielle. How about you give this a try?" Kaleigh said a few words and blew in Brielle's direction.

Brielle fell to the ground screaming in pain. She had never felt anything like this before; she was the one to always cause pain. Brielle was rolling around on the ground as it felt like something heavy was crushing her entire body. When the pain stopped, she stood up angrily.

"How are you doing this without your damn stone? I won't be defeated; you can't kill me." Brielle saw something out of the corner of her eye, and she got an evil idea.

"I know how you Emerald Stone bitches don't like to see anyone hurt. I think I will do to my dear assistant Celeste what I had planned to do to you. Can you stand to see her injured?" Brielle cocked her head, looking at Kaleigh with a grin. She was planning on killing Celeste anyway after she was done with Kaleigh. Maybe Celeste would benefit her now if Kaleigh really can't stand to see anyone suffer.

"Why would I care about you hurting one of your own witches, Brielle? I don't care what you do to anyone from the Dark Sphere; they are all rotten to the core."
Kaleigh pretended to look at Celeste with disgust, hoping that Brielle wouldn't call her bluff.

"Let's see, shall we?" Brielle forced Celeste from her spot with those words, and she fell to her knees in front of Brielle. "Time to prove your worth, Celeste."

Brielle cackled loudly, causing both Kaleigh and Celeste to feel fear. Brielle raised her hands and started to chant. Celeste felt an impending doom for whatever was about to happen, but she would not go back on her word to Kaleigh no matter what Brielle did to her.
