Chapter 33 - Saving Amber

Kaleigh knew they did not have much time left before the Dark Sphere witch found her. She could feel Brielle's spells trying to break the protection she had placed around the pack to see where Kaleigh was. Kaleigh and Dominick were in bed, both awake but enjoying the few minutes of peace and quiet before the training continued.

Kaleigh, Alannah, and Skylar had been working with the pack on how they could fight witches even though they did not have magic. Skylar had been most effective as she could imitate both pure and black magic. The warriors have been doing a fantastic job, and Kaleigh felt like they had a chance to beat them, at least the witches that Brielle would send. Kaleigh was the only one that would be able to take down Brielle and end the Dark Sphere forever.

"What is on your mind, sweetheart?" Dominick was scared for his mate. Even though he knew she was probably stronger than everyone in the pack. The amount of terror that he felt knowing she would have to be taken by this evil witch would not subside.

"I was just thinking about how well the training has been going. Your pack has amazing warriors, Dominick, and I think they have a real chance of defeating the witches that Brielle sends." Dominick frowned when he heard her say his pack.

"You mean our pack, Kaleigh. You will be the next Luna, so this is our pack, not my pack. Everyone is doing so well, and they don't mind training all day because of you. Kaleigh, this pack recognizes how strong of a Luna you will be. You are also kind, caring, and loving to everyone you come into contact with. Everyone is fighting to save you, Kaleigh."

Kaleigh was shocked. She had assumed everyone was fighting for the pack alone. She did not think she had that big of an impact on the pack members. Kaleigh was happy with everyone, though; she had made many friends. She had been working with some of the women and smaller pack members on how they could use their size and decreased strength to their advantage. They were beginning to see that they did not have to be big and strong like the warriors to fight. Kaleigh was proud of those pack members the most because she could see their self-esteem and confidence rise the more they trained. Just as Kaleigh was going to say something to Dominick, Skylar mindlinked her.

*"Kaleigh, Nia is mindlinking me. She said that something has happened to Amber and we need to get to the dungeon right away.
Nia said the spell inside her is trying to take over, and she doesn't know what to do."* Skylar sounded panicked and was just about ready to take over until Kaleigh stopped her.

*"Skylar, we will go to the dungeon, but we need to be careful. It could be one of Brielle's tricks. I want Dominick and Alannah to go with us. We may have no choice but to expel the black magic from Amber. It will alert the Dark Spere of our location, but I will not sacrifice Amber and Nia to give us a couple more days."* Skylar calmed down a little.

*"Okay, Kaleigh, let's go. Nia is really scared. I will tell her we are on our way." *

"Dominick Ambers wolf Nia just mindlinked Skylar, and she needs us to go to the dungeon right away. The black magic inside Amber is doing something to her, and Nia is scared. I want you and your mother to come with me. I have not taken the black magic out of her yet because I did not want Brielle to know my exact location, but I may need to do it now. I won't let Amber and Nia die." Kaleigh jumped out of bed to throw some clothes on. Dominick was right behind her.

"Okay, I will mindlink my mom to meet us downstairs." Dominick felt his heart squeeze at the thought of alerting Brielle of where Kaleigh was, but he knew this may be necessary. As Kaleigh was getting ready to run out the door, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms. Dominick gave her a long passionate kiss, he was trying to calm her down, but he needed it just as much. He felt Kaleigh relax in his arms.

"Thank you, Dom; I needed that." Kaleigh smiled up at her strong, handsome mate.

"I needed it to Kaleigh. Let's go."

Dominick grabbed her hand and ran down the steps. The Alpha and Luna were both there waiting on them when they got there. Kaleigh quickly explained what Skylar had said on their way to the dungeon; she just hoped they wouldn't be too late. The Alpha said he asked his Beta and Carla to come as well. As they arrived at the dungeon, they could hear Amber screaming like she was in pain. The guards were standing outside her cell at a loss on what to do.

When Kaleigh saw Amber, she knew she had to stop the black magic in her. Amber was on the floor, rolling around in intense pain. She was screaming so loudly it hurt everyone's ears. Kaleigh glanced toward Alannah and nodded.

"It's time, Luna. I have to do the spell, and then we need to prepare the pack to let them know the Dark Sphere witch will be here within a day. Everyone, please step outside; I do not want the black magic to try and find another host before I eliminate it." The guards, the Alpha, the Luna, and Dominick all stepped outside the dungeon. Although none of them were comfortable with leaving Kaleigh in there alone.

Kaleigh took a deep breath and started chanting. Skylar joined in with her as Kaleigh held her hands out toward Amber as she chanted. Even though she did not have her stone on her, she could still defeat the black magic in Amber. The stone was necessary to kill Brielle and the Dark Sphere Coven, but Kaleigh's magic alone was able to fight their spells.

Kaleigh kept her eyes on Amber as she continued chanting. She could feel Amber's pain and anger. As she and Skylar continued, she felt the black magic leaving Amber. Once it was out of Amber, Kaleigh said the final words to kill the magic and prevent it from finding a new host. Kaleigh chanted a few more words to include protection for Amber and Nia.

Kaleigh looked down at Amber, and she was lying on the floor, confused as she looked around. Amber looked up at Kaleigh, and recognition came over her face, followed by shame. She pulled her knees up and started crying into her hands. Kaleigh felt terrible for her, she knew Amber's prior actions were not her own, and she held no ill will toward her.

"Amber, you are going to be okay now. What you did in the last year was not of your own doing. An evil witch placed a spell on you with black magic, but I have removed it, so you should be okay now." Amber looked up at Kaleigh in shock, tears still running down her face.

"Kaleigh, how can you help me after what I did to you. I am so sorry for what I did. I didn't know what was going on with me, but I was so angry all the time, and I even hated my wolf. I feel like I have been living in a nightmare this past year. I was going to try and kill you, yet you saved me. Why?" Amber stood up and faced Kaleigh with awe on her face. Kaleigh smiled at her, and with a flick of her wrist, the cell door opened, and the collar on Amber's neck fell off.

"Amber, you cannot be blamed for actions that were not your own. I will explain everything to you later. Your parents are waiting for you outside. Are you ready to leave this place?" Amber felt like crying again, but instead, she ran out of the cell and hugged Kaleigh.

Kaleigh was so surprised to have Amber hugging her that it took her a minute to process it. Amber hugged her tightly and was crying in Kaleigh's arms. Kaleigh hugged her back and knew Amber would be okay now. She gently led her to the dungeon door, where Amber's parents waited. When Jonathan and Carla saw Amber walking out with Kaleigh's arm around her, they knew they had their daughter back. They both ran up to the two women with tears in their eyes.

"Thank you, Kaleigh, for saving our daughter." Carla hugged Kaleigh and then took her daughter in her arms, both of them crying.

"Kaleigh, if there is anything you need from us, please let us know. We will be in your debt for the rest of our lives." Beta Jonathan was amazed by Dominick's young mate. She was like no one he had ever met.

"Amber was not acting on her own; she will be okay now. Just make sure she gets everything she needs to move on. I think you should reach out to her mate that she had rejected. If everything is explained to him why she rejected him, he may be willing to give her another chance and help her through this." Amber looked up at Kaleigh with surprise.

"Kaleigh, thank you for everything. I hope we can be friends because I owe you my life." Amber ran over to Kaleigh and hugged her again.

Everyone headed back toward the packhouse; however, Kaleigh had a feeling of doom wash over her. She knew the Dark Sphere witch now knew her location and would be coming within a day. She remembered what the Moon Goddess said about talking to the witch before killing her right away. Kaleigh would do that if she did not impose an immediate threat. She took a deep breath and began preparing herself for what was coming.
