Chapter 25 - The Future

Kaleigh was staring at her necklace, which continued to glow. She had never seen it do that in all the years she had worn it. The only time it glowed was when she was doing a spell. Something was telling her that she needed to remove the stone and hold it in her hand. Kaleigh was still sitting on Dominick’s lap, and she shifted so she could sit up a little straighter. Kaleigh slowly opened the charm and took out the stone. As soon as she had the stone in her hand, it began glowing even brighter, getting the attention of everyone sitting at tables near theirs.

Kaleigh closed her eyes as she held the stone. It was speaking to her. She now knew who had placed the spell on Amber. She also knew that her time of being safe was limited because they were looking for her. Kaleigh saw the witch going to each pack looking for her, and she knew when she would reach White Raven. All of these images went through her head within a matter of seconds. They were gone, and the stone was back to normal while she was still trying to process everything.

“Kaleigh, what’s wrong? You are very pale.” Dominick sounded worried. He had never seen Kaleigh in this state. He wanted to take her up to their room and hide her away.

“Luna, can we go to your office? I need to speak with you for a few minutes. Dominick, Alpha, and Felicia, you can come too. Beta Jonathan and Carla, please, I need to ask you to wait here.” Kaleigh’s voice was hushed and held little emotion. Everyone was still stunned by what they had just witnessed.

“Of course, Kaleigh, let’s go.” Alannah jumped up and went over to Kaleigh, taking one of her hands as she and Dominick stood up. The Alpha and Felicia also stood up to follow them. Everyone in the dining hall watched the group leave, wondering what that mysterious green light had been around Dominick’s mate.

Kaleigh walked to Alannah’s office with one hand in Dominick’s and the other in the Luna’s. She was grateful for their support because what she saw scared her to the core. Kaleigh had to figure out what to tell each person. From what she saw, each person needed to have a role, but some functions should be kept secret until necessary.

Kaleigh had a plan in place. She would tell everyone the parts they all could know about and the rest, and she would set up one-on-one conversations with each person. That way, she could try to make the plan as flawless as possible. Of course, nothing can be completely ideal when dealing with the witches of Dark Sphere.

Kaleigh and Dominick sat on the loveseat as they walked into the Luna’s office. The Alpha, Luna, and Felicia sat on the couch across from them. Everyone was looking at Kaleigh expectantly, with concern on their faces.

“What’s wrong, Kaleigh?” Dominick asked quietly. He was terrified based on the expression on her face and how pale she was.

“I have to tell you all something, but I cannot tell you everything. So please don’t push for any more information than what I give you. All will be revealed when it is time.” Kaleigh looked at each one of them as they all nodded their understanding. She took a deep breath before she began.

“What happened a few minutes ago with my head hurting and my stone turning bright green had never happened before unless I was performing a spell. Something told me that I needed to hold the stone. That is why I took it out of my charm. When I held it, I could see some things that would happen in the near future.” Kaleigh stopped to look at them. Everyone in the room was staring at her with wide eyes, unable to speak, so Kaleigh continued.

“Luna, you were right; there was a spell placed on Amber by a black magic witch. It was placed on her in hopes of alerting the witch if Amber came in contact with someone from the Emerald Stone coven. The witch that put a spell on her was from Dark Sphere. Her name is Brielle, and she is very old, as in hundreds of years old. She looks like she is in her twenties, so don’t let her age fool you. Brielle is aware that I am out here, but from what I saw, she does not know who I am or where exactly I am. She has sent one of her witches to look for me in hopes of killing me and getting the sacred stone.” Kaleigh stopped talking to look at everyone again, especially Dominick. He had a look of pure terror on his face.

When Dominick heard that this witch was looking for Kaleigh to kill her, he almost let Ash take over to find the witch and kill her. He changed his mind, though, as he remembered what Kaleigh said about each person having a part to play in this. So that meant there was hope they could get through this. Also, she is the only one who could take on this witch. Dominick calmed down and pulled Kaleigh onto his lap. He needed her scent and touch to keep him sane.

“Kaleigh, what does this mean? What do we need to do?” Alannah was terrified. They all knew that these witches would try to kill Kaleigh if they found her. However, no one actually thought they would find her, especially not so quickly.

“As you know, I am the only one that can kill Brielle. She is the High Priestess of Dark Sphere. When we were doing the spell on Amber, she was alerted by the spell that she had placed. She could not pinpoint where Amber was or what pack she was with based on the spell I had placed on her. This also alerted her to my existence because she knows only a witch from Emerald Stone can block her out. As I said, she has sent one of her witches to find me. We have about a week until she gets here. In that time, I will prepare everyone so that we have a chance to beat them. I don’t want anyone in this pack getting hurt or killed because of me. That is all I can tell you because from here on out, I will have meetings with each person individually to explain their roles. You will understand why you cannot know each other’s roles once I explain them to you. Doing it this way is the only chance we have.”

Kaleigh stopped talking, and she looked at the others in the room. The Alpha was staring with fear in his eyes, as was the Luna. Dominick looked fighting mad while Felicia was silently sobbing. Kaleigh felt her heart tug at the sight of the teenager. Felicia didn’t know it yet, but she would have one of the biggest jobs of any other pack member. Kaleigh got off of Dominick’s lap and walked over to Felicia to kneel in front of her.

“Felicia, we will do everything we can to keep everyone safe. You are critical to this operation, so I need you to be brave, okay?” Felicia flung herself into Kaleigh’s arms, still crying.

“Kaleigh, I am not crying because I am scared for my safety. I am crying because I do not want anyone to take you away from us. You are the best thing that has happened to our pack, and the thought of anyone trying to take you away makes me sad.”

Kaleigh hugged Felicia while she cried. She did not want to make any promises that she couldn’t keep. The one person’s safety she could not guarantee with this plan was her own. Kaleigh better understood the sacrifice her mother and father made now. You will do everything in your power to protect the ones you love, even if it costs you your life.
