Chapter 12 - Diamond in the Rough
Gavin was sitting in his cell in the dungeon of the Fallen Eagle Pack for the third day, wondering where everything went wrong. He was from a small pack in Utah, where he lived with his parents and was happy. A few years ago, when he was sixteen, a stronger pack came and killed most of the pack members all because they wanted the land.

Gavin's parents had him hide before the warriors crashed through their front door, but they were both killed. He would never forget the sounds of his parent's screams.

He had found some others from his pack that was able to escape, and they wandered aimlessly, trying to find another pack to join. Unfortunately, they were unable to find any that would take them.

Gavin ended up leaving the group and traveling even further away. He had always wanted to see Montana, so he headed there. After arriving, he found a group of rogues about his age to stay with.

Todd was one of the rogues in the group. Gavin was glad to be with others, but he didn't like how the rogues behaved. They stole from wolf packs and humans. Some of them would attack and rape the rogue females they came across.

Gavin wasn't like them. He came from a pack that respected everyone regardless of their species. He was hoping to find a pack that would accept him, but every pack he came into contact with had a no rogue policy. While he was sitting there missing his parents, he heard someone coming.

"Rogue, come with me." A huge guard with dark skin, black eyes, and short black hair was opening Gavin's cell door. Gaven felt a moment of fear, thinking that they were going to start killing the rogues one by one for attempting to kidnap the twins. However, the guard had no hostility or anger toward Gavin; he almost seemed bored.

Gavin followed the guard outside the dungeon and had to squint his eyes from the bright sunlight. When his eyes adjusted, he saw Alpha Aaron, Beta Titus, and the twins waiting on him. He felt another moment of fear until the Alpha spoke to him.

"Gavin, as you know, I'm Alpha Aaron on the Fallen Eagle Pack. We have been observing you and the other rogues in the dungeon. We feel like you're not the same as they are. My mate and her sister also picked up an energy from you that shows you may be more than what you seem. Is that true?"

Gavin looked down at the ground. Ever since he became a rogue, he hadn't told anyone his secret. He felt like he could trust these four, though. After all, the witches were like him.

"Yes, sir. I don't like the life of being a rogue, and I'm not like them. I'm also a hybrid like the Luna and her sister. I'm half werewolf and half warlock. No one knows this because I grew up in a pack in Utah. My pack was attached, and everyone who didn't escape was killed. I have only been a rogue for a few years."

Gavin kept his eyes on the ground as a sign of respect and submission. He felt dirty in the rags he had on, and he needed a bath. Gavin had shoulder-length blonde hair, hazel eyes, and light tan skin. He wasn't very tall for being a werewolf at six foot one, but he was very muscular and would be handsome with some cleaning up.

"Gavin, please look up. If you no longer want to be a rogue, we'll welcome you into our pack. You have to promise to do your share of work and train like the rest. Are you willing to settle back into pack life?" Alpha Aaron and the other three were all smiling at him. Gavin couldn't believe what he was hearing as he looked at each of them. His dream of being part of a pack and having a family was coming true.

"Yes, sir, I'll do whatever you want me to if I can be part of your pack. That's what I've wanted for a very long time." Alpha Aaron held his hand out, and Gavin accepted it gladly.

"Welcome to the pack. When we get back to the pack house, I'll have someone show you to your room, and we'll give you time to clean up. Tomorrow we'll let you know what your duties will be." The Alpha and Beta started walking to the packhouse, and Gavin followed. The twins walked with him, one on each side.

"Hi Gavin, I'm Jasmine, and this is my sister Brandie. We're curious as to what type of magic you practice." Gavin couldn't believe these two beautiful women were talking to him and interested in his magic. He felt a little shy around them.

"I have always practiced pure magic, Luna. My pack was very small and didn't have any warriors; the pack that attacked us knew that. They had a witch help them by putting a spell on us to bind us from using magic while they killed everyone. I only got away because my parents had me hide. I haven't practiced my magic in a long time. I didn't want anyone to know what I was."

Jasmine and Brandie looked at each other. He sounded like their mother when she was hiding that she was a hybrid.

"Gavin, we can help you with your magic if you like. We'll want your help, too, because our pack will soon be attacked by something evil. Your magic may be able to help us when the fight comes if you're willing." Jasmine stopped talking to let him think. She understood that it may be hard for him to suddenly start practicing magic again.

"Yes, Luna, I would like that. My mom had taught me a lot, but I feel a little rusty after not using it for so long. I'll help with the fight in any way I can." Gavin looked down as they approached the packhouse. He was a little unsure of what to do from here.

"Gavin, this is Edna. She runs the packhouse and will show you your room. Please let her know if you need anything."

"Thank you, Alpha." Gavin followed Edna, who was short and plump with short curly light grey hair. She led him down a long hall as he looked around the packhouse in wonder. It was the most beautiful packhouse he'd ever seen. It had a comfortable feel, and Gavin felt himself relaxing already. Everyone they passed smiled at him or said hello, even though he knew he was a mess.

When Edna showed him to a large door and opened it, he stood there for a minute, unsure if he should go in or not. She smiled kindly and nodded at him. Gavin walked in slowly and gasped. The bedroom she was indicating was his was huge.

Everything was decorated in dark green and white. There was a large bed, dresser, chest of drawers, and two bedside tables with expensive-looking lamps. He noticed a small fireplace with a television hanging above it and a brown leather couch.

"This is for me?" Gavin asked Edna quietly.

"Yes, young man. Alpha Aaron insisted that this be your room. He said you looked like you hadn't had a good night's rest in a long time. You also have a bathroom and a large closet with new clothes. Dinner will be in a few hours, and I'll come to get you to show you where the dining hall is. For now, I left you some food on your table over there." Edna pointed to the table next to the couch, where he saw a covered tray.

"Thank you, ma'am." Gavin said to her quietly, still in awe of the room.

"You're welcome, Gavin. Please let me know if you need anything else." Edna smiled at him as she left the room, shutting the door behind her.

Gavin walked around the room, almost afraid to touch anything. He went over to see what food she had left him and saw a big bowl of vegetable stew with homemade bread. There was also a large glass of iced tea. He decided he wanted to shower before he ate because he didn't want to sit on the furniture with how dirty he was.

Gavin walked into the bathroom and once again was speechless. There was a huge walk-in shower and a large bathtub across from it. The dark green and white coloring continued into the bathroom. He went to the closet to see what clothes they had left him. Gavin was expecting a couple pairs of jeans and some t-shirts, but he was mistaken.

The closet was a walk-in, and it was filled with every type of clothing he could ever need. Gavin fell to his knees in tears when he looked at everything they had done for him. He felt like he finally had a place to call home and would do anything they wanted to protect his home.
