Chapter 31 - Keeper of the Emerald Stone
After Kaleigh and Allie parted ways, they felt a little better but had heavy hearts, not knowing how the battle would end. Allie headed to her and Lenny's room, where he was waiting on her. Kaleigh mindlinked Felicia to see where she was because she was the next person she needed to talk to. Felicia told her to come to her bedroom, where she was working on her homework. As Kaleigh was leaving Dominick's office, she ran into him in the hall.

"Where are you running off to, Kaleigh?" Dominick had trouble letting Kaleigh out of sight for very long, especially now that he knew the Dark Sphere would take her away.
"I am going to talk to Felicia. How did Lenny take everything?" Kaleigh hated that they had to come home because of her, but she was glad for their support.

"He is taking it all in stride. How about Allie? Is she okay knowing why you had to keep this secret from her?" Dominick wrapped Kaleigh in his arms while they still stood in the hallway.

"Yes, she took it very well. She is more worried about me than anything else. I am glad to have her here, though. I need to go talk to Felicia. Can you and I go back to our room after that? With the day we have had, I think we need a little alone time." Kaleigh rubbed her hand on Dominick's cheek and kissed him.

"That sounds good to me. I will wait here in our office until you are done with your conversation." Dominick leaned in for another kiss, but this time he ran his hands under her shirt to feel her soft silky skin. He had to force himself to stop before pulling her into the office and taking her on the couch.

"I will try not to be very long. Remember, I am just a mindlink away." Kaleigh kissed his cheek and headed to Felicia's bedroom.

Out of every person she had to talk to, Felicia was the one she was the most nervous about. Not because she didn't trust the teenager, but rather because she would be in the most danger. Kaleigh knocked on Felicia's door and went inside when she heard her say to come in.

Kaleigh smiled when she saw Felicia sitting on her bed in the middle of the room. Her room was all Felicia, with pink everywhere in multiple shades. The carpet and walls were white, but with everything else in the room being so bright and colorful, the white worked well. Felicia smiled when she saw Kaleigh and jumped off her bed to hug her.

"Hi, Kaleigh. I have been waiting for our talk. I can't wait to hear what my job is to take down these evil witches. What do I have to do? I am a good fighter; will I be fighting them? What are you going to be doing? Can't you just cast a spell and kill them right now?" Kaleigh laughed at Felicia's questions coming at her faster than she could process them.

"Felicia, I'm glad you are anxious to hear what I need you to do. Now let me try and answer your questions. You will not be fighting like the warriors will be. I will be fighting with magic, and I can't do a spell killing them all right now because that is not how it works. Let's sit down so we can talk." Felicia was still shocked that Kaleigh could remember all the questions she asked.

"Okay, Kaleigh." Felicia took Kaleigh's hand and pulled her over to the couch. She sat down, still holding Kaleigh's hand. She had always wanted a sister.

"Felicia, as you know, we will all have jobs that we need to do to beat these witches. I need you to promise me that you will keep what I will tell you to yourself. Felicia, you have one of the most critical jobs of any other person in the pack. I need to know now if you are willing to take on this responsibility before I tell you exactly what it is." Kaleigh watched Felicia's face while she talked.

Felicia felt the blood drain from her face; she didn't know her job would be so big. She wasn't scared of the responsibility, but she was worried that she would mess up, causing others to get injured or killed. However, when Kaleigh squeezed her and smiled at her, Felicia felt a sense of calmness wash over her and knew she would be able to do this.

"I can do it, and I promise not to tell anyone anything." Felicia squeezed Kaleigh's hand while she waited for her to start talking. Kaleigh reached up and took her necklace off, holding it in her hand.

"Felicia, you know I keep this necklace on at all times because it holds the sacred Emerald Stone of my coven. This stone is why Brielle the High Priestess is coming after me. She wants this stone because of the amount of power it holds. Your job Felicia is to protect the stone." Felica's eyes got as big as saucers as she stared at the necklace in Kaleigh's hand.

Felicia was speechless, and she felt her heart racing. She had to keep this stone safe from the Dark Sphere? How would she ever be able to do that? She is just one sixteen-year-old girl. Shouldn't one of the warriors keep it for safekeeping? Felicia looked at Kaleigh in pure terror.

"Kaleigh, how will I keep them from getting the stone? I have no special power. I am just a werewolf. If they find it on me, there will be nothing I can do to stop them from taking it, especially if they use their magic on me." Kaleigh understood Felicia's fear.

"Felicia, you are the only one who can keep it safe because they will not expect you to have it. I have a decoy necklace that I will wear with a simple emerald. They will think that it is the sacred stone until Brielle gets it and there is no power coming from it. She will then begin questioning me, trying to get me to tell her where it is. I will never tell her that you have it. You will be close by so that when I mindlink you, I can tell you how to get it to me. I can defeat them by defeating Brielle, but I have to do it inside her coven. That is why I cannot cast a spell right now to end them all." Felicia was still trying to process everything Kaleigh said.
"How will I get close to you if you are in Brielle's coven?" Kaleigh smiled at Felicia, and there was a knock on the door. Kaleigh was the one that said to come in. Mollie and Allie walked in, both looking a little confused. Felicia looked at the two women and them back to Kaleigh with confusion.

"Thank you for joining us, ladies. I am talking to Felicia about her role in our upcoming battle with evil. You both are sworn to secrecy on what is shared in this room. You can't even tell your mates, okay?" Kaleigh looked at Allie and Mollie as they took seats opposite where she and Felicia were sitting. They looked at each other and then back to Kaleigh and nodded.
"Okay, Kaleigh. I take it we are getting ready to hear what our jobs are?" Allie asked, looking at her cousin.

"Yes. Felecia will be keeping my stone for safekeeping until I am within Brielle's coven. I will then need her to bring it to me. You two will help keep Felicia safe and bring her to me when it's time. If I wear the stone into the coven, Brielle will get it from me without any issue. She will be enraged when she figures out that I have a decoy on. So, I need you two to stay by Felica's side no matter what happens. I cannot tell you all the details now, but you will know what to do to succeed as the battle gets closer. No one can know that Felicia has my stone other than those of us in this room. It is detrimental to the pack that everyone else believes I am still wearing it." The three women looked at each other with different emotions. At first, there was fear, then there was doubt, but they all finally looked determined.

"Okay, Kaleigh, we will keep Felicia safe and not tell anyone she has the stone." Allie nodded her agreement with what Mollie had said.
With that, Kaleigh took the necklace that she held and put it around Felicia's neck. She then said a few words under her breath, and just like that, the necklace looked completely different from before. Instead of a gold chain with a round charm, it was now more of a rose gold color, a little longer, and the charm was a dolphin. If anyone saw it, they would have no idea it held the stone.
Meanwhile, when they looked at Kaleigh, she now had a necklace on that looked like the original one. The three other women gasped at how Kaleigh had done that so quickly while they were watching, and they had not even noticed anything.

Handing over her stone was one of the hardest things Kaleigh had ever done; however, she knew it was necessary. This was the only way to beat Brielle and the Dark Sphere. She just had to stay strong for what she knew was coming and hope that she lived through it.
