Chapter 8 - The Twins Meet Zosia

Jasmine, Brandie, Aaron, and Titus were running the grounds in wolf form to see if they could pick up the scent of what they had smelled last night. So far, Dakota and Sterling could only pick up the scent very faintly, but it appeared whatever it was had left.

When they returned to the packhouse and shifted into their humans, they went to the dining hall for breakfast. All four of them were exhausted and not very talkative. After they finished eating, they mutually agreed a nap was needed before they faced the day.

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon, so most of the pack was still asleep. When the couples got to their bedrooms, they immediately laid down and went to sleep.

Brandie and Jasmine were both sleeping deeply when they suddenly felt like they were floating through the air. They were flying higher and higher. Both thought they were dreaming until they suddenly landed on a tall mountain high up in the clouds.

When they looked around, they saw a beautiful woman with long glossy black hair, pale white skin, and clear pale blue eyes. She wore a long blue dress that flowed around her and seemed to sparkle like it was covered in tiny diamonds. The girls knew from their mother's description that this was Zosia, the Moon Goddes.

"Hello, my dears. I'm so glad to meet you both." Zosia's voice was so clear it seemed to echo around them like little bells.

"Hello, Moon Goddess. We're happy to meet you as well." Jasmine answered for the both of them as they slightly bowed to her. They couldn't believe they were seeing her for themselves. She was even more beautiful than they thought.

"I'm sure you're curious as to why I have brought you here, so let me not waste any time. As you know, an evil force is targeting you both, but not only because of your sacred stones. They are targeting you because your wolves have magic, and you're unique. Dakota has the knowledge of black magic, and Sterling has the knowledge of pure magic. The four of you will be able to fight the evil that is coming to you. This fight will be far worse than those your parents fought."

When Zosia stopped talking to let what she had said sink in, the sisters looked at each other. They both had the same fear of something happening to their mates and their pack.

"Moon Goddess, if what you say is true, how can we ask our new pack to fight with us? We cannot put them in danger because of us." Brandie asked Zosia with her fear evident in her voice.

"Fear not, my young one. The outcome will be in your favor if you follow my directions. The evil ones are not of this world. There are two things that have been watching you. They have no name and no shape, as if they don't exist. They are a mere shadow if you see them. They are called the others. The others cannot hurt you, but they were sent to watch you by their master, the being. The being is stuck between two worlds, and he plans to take you both so he can use your special magic with the stones to enter the mortal world. We cannot let that happen because once he enters your world, he will be able to end the life of every species that calls your world home."

Jasmine and Brandie looked at each other again. How can the two of them stop something so powerful? It seemed as though the Moon Goddess read their thoughts.

"You are both more powerful than you give yourselves credit for. Your magic comes from your stones, but those stones draw their energy from the Earth. That's why someone always comes after those who have the stone. Others want that power for their own, but not to do good deeds. They want it for evil. What they fail to understand is the stone doesn't work that way. It's meant for good, and if someone uses its power for evil, that person will die. You two and your wolves are the purest as they come. It will take the magic of the four of you to beat the being."

"You haven't told us how Moon Goddess. We understand that we are the only ones who can do it, but how do we do it?" Jasmine was getting impatient. She needed answers because she wouldn't sacrifice one soul for this being.

"I cannot tell you everything until I know more of their plans. I will tell you that you and your wolves must aggressively practice your magic. Also, when you have your first heat, you'll have them at the same time. The being is waiting for that to happen so he can begin making his plans. So be prepared. After your heat, I'll be sending for you again. Goodbye for now."

Zosia didn't give the twins any time to ask questions. Before they knew it, they were flying back through the air to their beds. When they opened their eyes, they were still wrapped in their mate's arms as if they had never left. They both fell asleep with Zosia's words on their minds.

They all woke up a few hours later, and Jasmine told Aaron they needed to talk. Aaron mindlinked Titus and told him to bring Brandie and meet them in the Alpha office.

"Okay, Jasmine, we're all here. What did you and Brandie need to tell us?" Aaron didn't think there was too much to share after all they had been sleeping.

Jasmine and Brandie told their mates everything that happened with Zosia. Titus and Aaron couldn't believe it. They didn't know of anyone who had actually met her. Yet the twins were talking about it so casually like it happens every day.

"Wow, you two really saw the Moon Goddess in the flesh? That's amazing." Aaron was in awe of the sisters.

"Well, I wouldn't call it in the flesh. It was almost as if we were separated from our bodies. It was cool but strange. The main thing is that Brandie and I, with our wolves, need to practice our magic. We need to understand each other's strengths and weaknesses so that we will be effective when it comes to fighting. Also, when we go into heat, we will both go at the same time, and Zosia will want to talk to us again after that." Jasmine was already thinking of ways to practice their magic.

"What do you need from us? Right now, it feels like the two of you will be leading the pack, and Titus and I will be riding your coattails." Aaron was proud of his mate and her sister but also worried. How could they sit back and let them take on this evil being by themselves? He looked over at Titus and could tell he felt the same way.

"We need you to be supportive of what we have to do. We may not be able to be by your sides like we want to all the time, but know that we're just a mindlink away. When we practice our magic, it will be best to do it away from the packhouse, so we don't draw a crowd. If you can show us a good place to do it in private, that would be helpful. The main thing we'll need you for is when our heat comes."

Jasmine winked at Aaron when he laughed. Meanwhile, Brandie and Titus were both blushing. Brandie agreed with what her sister said, and she was anxious to start practicing their magic. Sterling was anxious too. She and Dakota had rarely done any magic because they weren't sure what they should be practicing.

As the couples were planning, the others were outside watching. They had reported to the being that the twins were able to pick up their scent, so they had to be more careful. The being hadn't been happy. The others were supposed to be no more than shadows, so how did the sisters know they were there?

Even though they were not as close to the packhouse as they would like, the others had picked up on the visit with the Moon Goddess. They knew that would need to be reported to the being as soon as possible. The Moon Goddess was dangerous in her own right because she could bless those of her choosing with special powers.

The others also heard that when the twins go into heat, they will go at the same time. That was rare, but it would make it easier on them when reporting to the being. The one thing that had them the most concerned was that Brandie and Jasmine would practice their magic in a remote location.

It would be too risky for the others to follow them because the sisters would be able to pick up their scent. They decided they may need to call in a resource to help them. They didn't like using him because sometimes he blew his cover by getting too close, but they didn't think they had a choice. They left the pack grounds and returned to their world to summon the invisible one.
