Chapter 30 - Allie
Kaleigh had spent the day talking with various pack members to prepare them for the Dark Sphere. She was often able to speak to some of them in groups, like the warriors. Warriors already know how to fight; Kaleigh just had to explain how different fighting witches would be. She, Skylar, and Alannah would help with that by using various spells in training and showing the warriors how to get past them.

She needed to have one-on-one conversations with Alannah, Alpha Dillon, Felicia, Tom, Mollie, Allie, and Lenny. Beta Jonathan and his wife Carla would have roles too, but they mostly needed to stay around Amber to protect her. Kaleigh had already talked with the Alpha and explained how he would need to be by Dominick’s side when going to battle. Together they would lead the warriors with the help of Lenny and Tom. She had also talked with Alannah as she would need to learn some spells to help counter the Dark Sphere. Kaleigh and Skylar would assist her with those as they also needed to practice.

Kaleigh was waiting to talk to Mollie and Felicia until she had a chance to see Allie. Lenny and Allie were due back at any time, and Kaleigh wanted to ensure that she was the first one Allie saw upon her arrival.

She heard the truck coming up the road, and she began to get nervous. Kaleigh hoped that Allie would understand why everything had to be a secret.
As the truck pulled up in front of the packhouse, Allie jumped out almost before it stopped. She ran up the porch steps and into Kaleigh’s waiting arms. They both had tears in their eyes as they hugged. Even though it had only been about a week and a half since the wedding, it felt like they had not seen each other in months.
“Kaleigh, I have missed you. What the heck is going on around here that we needed to come back early? I don’t mind; I was just worried about you when Dominick called and said something was going on with the pack.” Kaleigh smiled to herself. She had missed Allies’ rapid-fire way of talking.

“I missed you too, Allie. Before I tell you, what is going on with the pack, I need to talk to you first. Do you mind coming up to Dominick’s office with me?” Lenny had just reached them and looked at Kaleigh in confusion.

“Hi, Kaleigh. It’s nice to see you again. Is everything alright?” Lenny sounded worried as he put an arm around Allie.

“Hi, Lenny. I am sorry about the shortened honeymoon. I will let you talk to Dominick so he can explain everything to you. I need to talk to Allie privately for a few minutes. Dominick is waiting for you in your office Lenny.” Allie and Lenny exchanged a look before the trio headed into the packhouse.

When they reached the third floor where the offices were located, Lenny headed to his office to speak with Dominick. Kaleigh led Allie to Dominick’s office and shut the door. They sat down on the couch facing each other, and Kaleigh took a deep breath.

“Okay, Kaleigh, out with it. What is bothering you?” Allie was genuinely worried; she had never seen her cousin look so scared before. Kaleigh was the strongest person she knew.

“Allie, I need to confess something to you. As you know, my parents died when I was five. What you don’t know is that my mother was not human. She was actually a witch from the Emerald Stone coven. She and my father were killed by the witches of the Dark Sphere. They are black magic witches who cannot be killed by anyone other than those of Emerald Stone. When they killed my mother, they thought she was the last witch alive that was a threat to them.” Kaleigh stopped to see how Allie was taking all that she had said so far.

“So your mom was a witch and was killed by evil witches. When they killed her, what do you mean they thought she was the last of Emerald Stone? Is there another one out there from that coven?” Allie was still trying to wrap her mind around the fact that her aunt was actually a witch. They had thought she was a human all this time.

“Allie, I am the last remaining witch from Emerald Stone. I am a hybrid. Half witch and half werewolf. Your mom and dad know about me; my parents told them once they knew Dark Sphere had placed a spell on them. Your parents agreed to raise me and keep my hybrid status a secret. We had to even keep it from you and your brother; it was too risky to take the chance of it getting out. Please forgive me, Allie, there were so many times I wanted to tell you, but I did not want to put you in harm’s way.”

Kaleigh was crying as she told Allie everything, and it broke Allie’s heart. She was not angry at her cousin. She was upset that she had to hide this secret for so long and be alone. Allie was glad that Kaleigh could now live out in the open. However, she was still confused about why they needed her and Lenny to return. She leaned over and hugged Kaleigh tightly.

“Kaleigh, it’s okay; I am not angry. I understand why it had to be a secret. What I don’t understand is why this information has put the pack in danger.” Kaleigh leaned back and looked at her amazing cousin. She had been scared that Allie would be mad at her, but instead, she was her usual easy-going self.

“The Dark Sphere has placed a spell on the Beta’s daughter Amber. It was placed on her so the high Priestess Brielle would know if Amber ever came into contact with a witch from Emerald Stone. The necklace I wear carries a sacred stone that Brielle wants so she can get the power from it. Amber threatened me, so the Alpha banned her from the pack and put her in the dungeon for 60 days. I placed a spell on her with the help of the Luna and Felicia so we could see what was causing Amber to act the way she was. We figured out that a Dark Sphere witch placed the spell, and now they have been alerted to my existence. There is a witch from their coven looking for me right now.” Allie was speechless. She knew Amber. Allie had met her briefly and was not fond of her. To think that she had a spell on her from these evil witches explained some of her attitude; at least Allie hoped she did not act like that typically.

“Kaleigh, what are you trying to tell me?” Allie was almost whispering.

“When the witch finds me, she will let Brielle know where I am. Brielle will then have me taken to her coven so she can try and get my stone. There will be a battle between our pack and the witches of Dark Sphere. Brielle will do anything to get my stone and to end my life. We brought you and Lenny back here to fight with us.
I want to protect as many pack members as possible.” Allie looked at Kaleigh and knew there was something she was leaving out.
“You said pack members Kaleigh. What about you? Will you come out of this safely?” Kaleigh felt her eyes begin to tear up.

“Allie, I cannot guarantee that there will not be casualties, including me.” Allie began crying and hugged Kaleigh again. She would not let Kaleigh sacrifice herself.
