Chapter 65 - The Final Round

Josephine stared in confusion, not understanding what was going on. She had been sure that the woman she saw would be Kaleigh, but it wasn't her at all. What was in front of her was obviously a decoy.

It was a scarecrow with a shaw over it and a flashlight with a green light pointing up. Josephine still heard the chanting, but she couldn't pinpoint where it came from as she listened. The sound seemed to be coming from all around her.

Josephine kicked the scarecrow angrily and returned to her witches, that were waiting for Josephine to send them into the fight. They were nervous because they'd seen what had happened to those before them. Their magic may be a little more powerful, but they didn't have the fighting skills of warriors.

Josephine held up her hand as she did her war scream. The witches all started running into the fight. Josephine held back. Her goal was to find Kaleigh and get that stone. Josephine went back into the forest, listening to the chanting.

She closed her eyes and tried to let her mind go free to find the source. Josephine realized that it wasn't one voice but three. They were all echoing off each other and coming from three sides of the forest.

As she listened to the chant, she realized what the chant was. Josephine screamed in fury as she ran through the forest, trying to find the witches casting the spell. They were trying to end her, and she couldn't let that happen. She had to get that stone.

Josephine continued running blindly through the forest. Her rage and greed fueled her. For all she knew, she could be running in circles. She listened to the spell meant to kill her and felt fear for the first time in her life. Josephine fell to her knees in frustration, trying to find a way out of this.

Kaleigh, Celeste, and Allannah continued their chanting. Kaleigh could feel the power flowing through her body, and even though the twins were nowhere near her, she could feel their energy as if they were right next to her. Kaleigh could also feel Josephine within the triangle looking for her.

Kaleigh smiled. It appears their decoy worked to draw her into the forest. The places they used to make the triangle was set in the best locations around the forest to cause their voices to echo. This made it difficult for anyone to find their actual location.

Kaleigh chanted louder, knowing that if Josephine was looking for her, the third wave of witches had been unleashed on the pack. Kaleigh raised her hands high, letting the magic flow from her body, mingling with her daughters and covering the pack lands. It was almost time for the final stage to end them all.

Dominick heard Josephine's war scream and knew the next round was about to start. He hoped that Kaleigh could finish the spell before they had more casualties. Everyone could hear the chanting in the forest. It was eerie and beautiful at the same time.

Dominick saw the witches coming toward them, and then they suddenly stopped. They all looked around in confusion as the chanting got louder. Dominick had no idea what the spell was or what was being said, but the witches knew.

Dominick watched as the witches came to a halt and listened to the spell echoing all around them. One by one, they fell to their knees, holding their ears and screaming. The warriors looked at each other, not knowing if they should attack or not.

Dominick didn't have to think. He was not taking any chances, and he was tired of these witches coming after his mate. Dominick shifted into Ash so he could join the fight. Ash quickly went to work, ripping out the throat of the witches on their knees.

The other warriors saw what Ash was doing, and they joined him. They could take the witches out without any trouble, thanks to Kaleigh's spell. Dominick was still worried, though, because Josephine was not among them.

Kaleigh knew the spell was working on the witches fighting the warriors because she could feel their energy leaving their bodies. Josephine would not be as easy, though. Kaleigh knew she would have to let Josephine find her so they could battle it out.

Once she felt the other witches had been killed, Kaleigh whistled long and loud so that Celeste and Alannah knew they could stop chanting. Kaleigh wanted to draw Josephine to her and keep her from the pups.

Kaleigh continued chanting loudly for all to hear. The twins were still in their respective spots because Kaleigh needed their energy to defeat Josephine. Kaleigh waited until she heard footsteps off to her left. She pretended to be absorbed in her spell as Josephine approached. When Kaleigh felt Josephine about to grab her, she did a backflip kicking her right in the face.

As Kaleigh kicked her in the face, Josephine was taken off guard, and she fell to the ground. Kaleigh continued to chant as she got into a fighting stance.

Josephine stared at the Emerald Stone witch in both fascination and fear. She could see the stone glowing brightly around her neck and her eyes glowing the same bright green color. Josephine had expected that, but what scared her was the look on Kaleigh's face.

Kaleigh didn't look scared or worried. She looked peaceful, like she was out in the forest for a walk. Josephine rushed at Kaleigh to knock her down and stop the chanting.

Kaleigh smirked when she saw what Josephine was doing. She waited until she got right in front of her and then leaped in the air, flipping out of the way, so she was behind Josephine. Kaleigh grabbed her around the neck and kicked her as hard as she could in the back.

Josephine screamed out in pain at the kick in her back. She may be a witch, but she wasn't immune to pain. What hurt even more, was her pride. This witch was not only fighting her with magic but also using her fighting skills.

Josephine got back up and looked at Kaleigh, who continued to chant. She also looked flawless, every hair still in place. In comparison, Josephine looked like she had been in a brawl.

"Emerald Stone witch, it's time for you to die. Give up now before I kill you and your entire pack." Josephine screeched at Kaleigh.

"Josephine, you're delusional. You've already lost. You just haven't admitted defeat." Kaleigh spoke while she chanted. Josephine looked at her in fear wondering how she had done that.

"I will never lose. I'm more powerful than anyone. You can't beat me on your own." Josephine cackled loudly. Even though the spell Kaleigh was chanting had taken away her magic, she still planned on getting that stone.

"Turn around, Josephine. I'm not alone." Josephine turned around, expecting to see warriors, but what she saw made her speechless.

Two other witches were standing there, each holding a baby whose eyes were glowing the same color of green as the stone around their necks. Josephine screamed in defeat as they all moved closer to her. She felt her energy leave her body and sank to the ground.

Kaleigh, Alannah, and Celeste all made a circle around Josephine. The glowing green became brighter, causing Celeste and Alannah to temporarily close their eyes. When they opened them back up, there was nothing left of Josephine except a pile of ash.

Kaleigh finished her chanting and closed her eyes. The twins closed their eyes with their mother. Everyone let the quiet and peacefulness sink into them while they regained their energy. When Kaleigh opened her eyes, she walked to each twin and kissed them on their little foreheads. They were both sound asleep.

"Thank you, ladies, for all your help. I think we better return to the pack and see how everyone is doing." Celeste and Alannah couldn't speak, so they both nodded.

With Kaleigh's powerful energy still around her, she appeared as something out of this world. Celeste and Alannah followed behind Kaleigh, still holding the twins. The pups were also emitting powerful energy, although not as strong as their mother.

As they returned to the pack grounds, the fighting there was also done. There was nothing left of the witches who had been killed. Due to the spell Kaleigh had done, they all turned to ash once Josephine died.

Kaleigh looked for Dominick and saw him running toward her. She met him halfway in relief. They'd both made it and protected the twins. Kaleigh and Dominick took the twins from the two women so they could find their mates.

"Kaleigh, I was so worried about the three of you. I'm glad this is finally over. Maybe now we can have more normalcy and not so much chaos in our lives." Dominick kissed each of the twins and then leaned down to kiss his mate. He felt his fear subsiding when their lips connected.

"Dom, I agree. Less chaos for sure. How did we fair in pack member losses?" Kaleigh looked around, and it seemed they didn't lose too many lives.

"Overall, we didn't do too bad. We lost five bears and seven wolves. I think all the witches survived because they stayed hidden to do their spells in order to help us in the fight." Dominick put his arm around Kaleigh's shoulders while they looked over the pack while holding their pups.

They saw the Alpha and Luna kissing off to the side. Celeste and Noah were embracing each other in relief. Nikki and Riley were standing next to each other, talking quietly. Kaleigh saw Lydia standing with Vince, who was holding her hand while running his hand through her hair.

Kaleigh smiled as she saw all the couples reuniting. The love in the air was overwhelming as young and old couples found their mates. She knew that the pack would heal. There would be difficulties, but they had proven they were not a typical wolf pack.

Dominick and Kaleigh looked at each other and knew it was their time to take the reins. After the clean-up, they would do the commitment ceremony and take over as Alpha and Luna.

They started walking toward the packhouse to spend time with their daughters and each other as the sun was rising on a new day. It was a day of hope and love. No one would forget this fight, but they wouldn't dwell on it either.

As Kaleigh and Dominick made their way inside, they knew today was the first day of the rest of their lives. They would face everything that came their way head-on and side by side. The twins were a sign that the future would be bright and the Emerald Stone witches would prevail.
