Chapter 27 - The Search

Celeste had decided that she would start on the East Coast and work her way West looking for the witch of Emerald Stone. She wanted to take as much time as possible to complete this task as she was in no hurry to return to Brielle’s house. Celeste could move through the wolf packs without being noticed due to her incredible speed. There were thousands of wolf packs in North America alone, and Celeste wanted to search each one carefully to make sure she didn’t miss anything.

Celeste moved from pack to pack, enjoying herself as she went. Celeste liked seeing how those who were not evil lived. She would do anything to not be stuck under Brielle and would like to switch to the good side. That is not a possibility, though, because Brielle killed any witch who tried to leave Dark Sphere. Celeste felt it unfortunate that she had been born to the evilest coven in the world. Unless something changed, she was stuck, but while she was away from Brielle, she could enjoy being good.

Celeste was sitting up in a tree hidden, watching a party at the wolf pack below. She was laughing at all the little pups running around playing together. Celeste would have loved to have a child, but no man would even look at her because of her deformity. She could have placed a spell to force a man to get her pregnant, but she wanted to be loved. If only it wasn’t for her messed-up body and face, she might have been able to find love.

Celeste’s face seemed to be crooked to anyone that looked at her. One eye was smaller than the other, and her nose was big. She also had scars all over her face causing her mouth to be lopsided. Her body was wrong, with one arm shorter than the other, and one leg did not move correctly, so she always had a limp when she walked. She sighed as she watched the mates below her; she could feel the love they shared from all the way up in the tree. She decided it was time to move on to the next pack.

Secretly Celeste was hoping that it would take a while for her to find the Emerald Stone witch. Not only because she didn’t want to return to Brielle, but she didn’t want to cause the death of the good witch. If it were possible, Celeste would like to ask the witch of Emerald Stone to keep her safe from Brielle. She did not think that would happen, though. Once this witch sees her, she knows she will most likely end her existence. This witch is the only one who kills the witches of Dark Sphere, so this mission was a death mission for Celeste. If she did not find the Emerald Stone witch, Brielle would kill her, and if she did find her, the Emerald Stone witch would kill her. Celeste no longer cared. She would enjoy the time she has now to pretend that she is good and would not cause anyone any harm.

Celeste could feel Brielle trying to talk to her. They did not have the same mindlinking as werewolves do, but they could still talk to each other from distances. Celeste focused on her inner thoughts and could hear Brielle asking her if she had picked up on a trail or anything. Celeste tried to make her thoughts as evil as possible because Brielle could feel energy from long distances. Brielle would know that she was not focused on this deed if her energy was too cheerful. Celeste sent her a message that she had not found anything, but she was still searching and would give her an update as soon as she had anything.

Celeste continued to the next pack and found the she-wolf that had the spell placed on her by Brielle. You could always spot them right away because they acted like spoiled brats and tried to mate with those of high power. Brielle placed the spells on unmated she-wolves on purpose. It was really Brielle’s selfish nature and need for power that was coming out through these women. Celeste took pity on them because she witnessed firsthand how they were hurting those around them because of Brielle. She knew if it wasn’t for the spell, they would not act like that.

Celeste hoped that once the Emerald Stone witch knew of these spells, she would eliminate them from all the she-wolves so they could go back to living the lives they were meant to. She looked over the pack below and saw no one that appeared to be from Emerald Stone. The Emerald Stone witches were hard to miss because they were so beautiful; they did not blend in with the werewolves easily. In reality, she could probably search all of North America within a couple of days, but she would drag it out at least a week. No need to speed up her inevitable death.

Celeste quickly flew to the next pack; she was so fast that no one looking in the sky would see anything. They didn’t fly on brooms like in children’s books, but rather it was almost like teleporting. They could still see everything below them and focus on objects; that’s why it would not take her long to observe each pack. Celeste was having fun, though, and even when she finds the Emerald Stone witch, she may not let Brielle know right away. She may try to talk to her first; maybe she would help Celeste.
________________________
Brielle was so angry she felt like she was going to explode. Celeste has been gone for over twenty-four hours, and she has had no leads yet. Brielle didn’t think it would take so long to find the Emerald Stone witch. That was why she sent Celeste; she was one of the fastest witches they had in their coven. Brielle thought maybe it made up a little for her being inadequate in almost every other aspect. Brielle was not an idiot; she knew Celeste was glad to be out of the house and on her own.
She would make her pay if she took too much time searching or did not find the witch.

Brielle knew that once Celeste found her, there was a good chance that the witch would kill Celeste in hopes that no one else from Dark Sphere would come after her.
However, Brielle placed a spell on Celeste so she would know as soon as she was in the presence of anyone from Emerald Stone. She could care less if Celeste died in the process; it was time to clean house and get a new assistant anyway.

Brielle went back to her potions. She had been working on potions to use on the emerald Stone witch once she had her. Brielle was hoping the sacred stone would be found on her, but if not, she would torture her until she told where it was. If she does not have the stone, then Brielle will have no problem getting the upper hand on the witch, but it will take a little finessing if she does have the stone. The sacred stone would give the witch power that Brielle could not compete with. Brielle wanted that stone more than anything else. She would do anything necessary to get the power from it. Maybe then she would be the most powerful being, and she would run all the realms. She would enslave the devil, and he would do her bidding.

Brielle cackled as she thought about the devil working for her and crawling on his knees to beg for mercy. She was thinking of how she would rule over him and every creature, dead or alive. Brielle just needed to get that stone; she could almost taste the power it would give her.
She screamed in frustration as she continued mixing potions. Brielle would make the witch of Emerald Stone pay for making her wait so long for that stone. She would torture her slowly.
