Testify
"Jasper!" I cry out madly with joy and turn to run down the stairs toward his arms.
But even before I can make my move, Eric jumps in front of me, blocking my way with his body like a shield. I punch him wherever I can, and struggle to get out of his grip, but of course, he is many times stronger than me. "Eric, get off me!" I shout.
There is an uproar in the hall.
I see attendees looking menacingly at Jasper and others glare back confused at the stage. An older man and woman emerge, the woman getting down on her knees, crying her heart out. The man comfortingly wraps a hand around her shoulder to pull her up. "Elder Nicolas. I am Kenston Weiner and there on the stage is my second daughter, Rain. I was reported that she is suffering from amnesia," the man exclaimed emotionally. "This is my wife, Ana and here is my third daughter, Ruth. I confirm what Alpha Jasper here declares, my daughter is already mated with him".
My eyes go wide. I have parents! And a younger sister!
I can't believe my ears and let out a scream of delight. The girl runs forward to the stage now, and extends her hand to me. "Rain! Rain!" she exclaims heartbreakingly. Her facial features are indeed very similar to mine, her thick black hair falls in a full waterfall down her back. Again I try to knock Eric off me, in vain.
Now Ralph comes forward and pulls me into his arms like a rag doll.
"Alpha Jasper, Rain rejected you a long time ago. She lived in Human Town for two years away from you. So, tell us all here, how can you still claim her?" he bites to Jasper. "She has a new life and is now my chosen mate. Move on, Alpha. Don't you have enough on her sister? You have her sister Rachel as your mate now. Leave us alone". On hearing Ralph, I get cold inside. So I have another sister and Jasper has a relationship with her? Did he lie to me? My eyes go to him incredulously and I see him staring back at me fearlessly.
"That's a blunt lie. I've been waiting for my mate all along because I know we can resolve our differences," he says confidently, gazing deep into my eyes. "Never did I think a King would steal her from me. I have spent all the years looking for her, wanted to convince her that her reason for fleeing can be resolved." I swallow hard, believing he is telling the truth. There is a powerful bond between us, it is as if we are one soul. "Moreover, Rain would have felt it if I cheated. The mate bond is very active and strong even though we haven't marked each other yet. Rain is mine, just as I am hers".
This public expression of his feelings makes a warm feeling go through me.
My eyes remain glued to my mate. I wonder what was so profound that made me foolish enough to leave him. Just looking at him makes me horny as hell, all I want now is to wrap my arms around him and take him deep in me, mark him as a reminder of his own words. "My King, please, release my daughter," the woman still on her knees begs. Pleading, she looks at Ralph, who has an implacable glance on his face. "My King, if you are just as you should be, let my daughter come here to me and say what she wants for herself," she reasons. "Alpha Jasper is her fated mate, the Luna ceremony and mating have already taken place. But if Rain still chooses you, we will bow to her decision. But let her choose for herself, My King".
A murmur rings through the hall.
"How dare she request the King? Who does she think she is?" a few angrily declare as they partly shift. On the other side of the room, things sound equally different. "Why doesn't she reject that Alpha? Any sensible she-wolf would choose the King. He's more powerful and richer. What is that Alpha thinking?" muses someone there.
"Silence!" suddenly sounds roaring through the hall.
Everyone falls quiet and turns to whoever dares to send out commands in front of the King. An older man steps forward, flanked by two others clearly younger than him. He looks first at me, then at Ralph and Eric, before landing his eyes on Elder Nicolas. "I am Alpha King Remus, the president of the Council," he declares and remains silent for several seconds to let his words sink in with those present. "Alpha Jasper has filed an official complaint with us regarding this matter. We were forced to deal with it earlier than planned because this ceremony was organized faster than was intended."
Still silent, all attention is on this man.
"We contacted the Sages and the King-Father, as we should, to learn about this matter. Both referred me to the Oracle, knowing that the Sacred One makes no judgment on matings. Werewolves have the choice to reject the mate Selene assigns them and adopt a chosen mate," he belittles those present. "The Oracle only ventilates decisions made by Selene. So it will remain silent in cases of matings. And the Sages and the King-Father know that damn well," he growls, annoyed.
"So the Council judges that these two authorities cooperate with King Ralph. In case the King is ruled against, the sanctions pronounced for him will also apply to the Sages and the King-Father." Expressions of great shock and disbelief pass through the hall. Alidya begins to cry loudly. As if nailed to the floor, I stand watching the Council President.
Slowly the man steps up the steps to the stage.
He chooses to stand a long way from us. "Is there anyone here in the room who can prove that the pieces Alpha Jasper sent to the Council are false?" he exclaims into the microphone. "Are there people who have witnessed Rain or Saray here, rejected Alpha Jasper?" The room remains dead silent. I suspect no one wants to lie in the King's favor, fearing to suffer his judgment as well. Smart move by the Council President, goes through me.
Alpha King Remus waits a full minute, but there is no response from the room.
"That didn't happen then," he concludes. "Then, is there anyone here who knows that Rain or Saray does not belong to the King and so is mated to Alpha Jasper?"
Before he has even done speaking, there is a response from an unexpected source.
"Me! Rain or Saray belongs to her fated mate and that is Alpha Jasper. She told me so herself and the Alpha wants her back. I can testify to that."....
