To Human Town
When we get outside the treatment room, there are four men with red eyes standing there, staring at us.
Randall walks over to me and takes my hands in his. "Saray, you arrived at the palace some days ago and brought so much joy to us. Since you stepped in here, there has been nothing but joy in the Kingdom. In a few months, you will give us what they have so hoped for. Not one, but two Crown Princes". Behind him, I see the Sages diligently trying to hold back their tears. Emotions are running high here.
"I look forward to their arrival too, Father," I whisper.
The Sages approach me and Elder Nicolas places a cross with a white powder on my forehead. "The Moon Goddess is with you, my dear. You are a blessing to the Kingdom. May you have a long life," he declares solemnly. Smiling, I look at him; in the short time I stayed in the palace, I gained a lot of respect for this man. He may stick to old-fashioned customs, but he definitely has the Kingdom's best interests at heart. "Thank you, Elder. Ralph and I appreciate your interest. I hope you are willing to teach the pups later everything they need to know about the rites of the Lycans," I tell him.
Proudly, he straightens his shoulders.
"Of course. I taught the King those too. But look what has become of all the time I've invested in him," he sighs, disappointed. "He was influenced by his father. But they won't get me down; I will continue until I find a future King who shares my beliefs," he declares firmly. Behind him, I see Randall roll his eyes. We all walk to the palace balcony and to my great surprise, I see a large crowd gathered there. "Ralph, what's going on?" I ask in shock. My mate smiles. "The Lycans have come to learn about the heir to the throne. And now they are beside themselves with joy that we are getting two Kings. I must now officially announce their gender," he explains to me. "Come, let's go to the railing and deliver the message."
He put an arm around my shoulders and we stand in front of the people.
We now look down on the crowd laughing merrily with each other. Many have drinks in their hands. "My Kingdom. Everyone knows by now that I returned to the palace with my mate a few weeks ago. The marking ceremony and her installation have yet to take place. That will happen when the Sages have found the right date," Ralph briefs now in his highest authority. He pulls me close to him. "My mate and I are expecting our first pups in a few months. We didn't expect to become parents so soon, but no one can blame me for not waiting for the mating ceremony with such a desirable mate beside me."
Loud laughter erupts, Ralph's statement is accepted with hilarity.
"We were just told by the doctor that we are having two pups. Twin Princes". Now there is no stopping it. The crowd screams with joy, many shifting in their Lycan. It is a spectacle to behold, loud howls fill the air. Ralph kisses me tenderly on the mouth; with that, we are accepted as a couple by the Kingdom.
We then all depart for the main dining room.
When we are all seated, Elder Nicolas addresses my mate and me. "The Full Moon will be here after a week. Then we will know what dates the Moon Goddess has decided on for the ceremonies," he informs us. "It is important that they be held before the pups are born." We all nod in agreement. "In the meantime, we will begin the preparations. The traditional dress needs to be altered now that Saray's belly is getting bigger. We need to go to Human Town at the designer," Alidya explains. My eyes shine with joy, this is my chance to meet Magda and Elena again. "Yes, Mother, I also need to start buying the baby clothes and other supplies. When do you think we can leave? Then I'll ask Magda to come with us too. I don't think it will be too long before she is also pregnant and this is a chance for her to experience everything in advance," I exclaim enthusiastically.
"I can't manage to take time off now. Maybe after a month or so," Ralph enters the conversation.
Disappointed, I look at him. "After a month? But there is a possibility that the ceremonies would take place earlier. The Elder said it's Full Moon next week already," I tell him. I want to meet my peers again so badly. Here in the Kingdom, I have no friends yet, Alidya is the only one I hang out with. I want some change of scenery. "Aaahh Ralph, this is something between women. Let Saray go to Human Town with me. She also has a few friends there that she would like to see. I don't think we need men around us," Alidya declared annoyed.
"Mother, as much as I wish you your girls' night out, the Queen cannot leave without security. I officially introduced her to the Kingdom today, all eyes are on her now," Ralph notes. "We have few enemies, but I leave nothing to chance. This is about my mate and pups. And Saray is still unmarked". Alidya and I look at each other disappointed.
"I'm sorry, my love. But Ivor and Eric will go with you. I can't come along myself. Eric also has to take care of some business in Human Town, but Ivor will stay with you all the time with some unseen guards," Ralph informs me. I shrug my shoulders, there's obviously nothing I can do about it. That's one of the cons of belonging to the Royal family, I guess. I'll have to get used to it. And I'm sure the men won't bother with us for long, they are usually not interested in women's talk. Ralph kisses me encouragingly on the mouth and we turn to the table to start celebrating the arrival of the heirs to the throne....
