Promises To Keep

The efficiency with which Rain handles everything is outstanding.
After I called my own yacht to join the Royal one, she took the phone from me. Of course, I cannot accommodate my in-laws of four in the Royal yacht, can't I?! I also want to impress them, convince my father-in-law that I'm capable of taking care of his daughter. Rain called and spoke to Esau and Perpetua on speakerphone so we could all listen to the arrangements she agreed with them. They had just come home from the beach where they had a campfire. The Moon Goddess alone knows how this woman was able to gain people's trust in such a short time. The parents had little resistance to packing right away. They just wanted the assurance that Rain would be with them when they arrived at Human Town. Obviously, the family does not spend much time outside the island.
So now it's waiting for my yacht to show up so we can pick up my mate.
Out of sheer joy, I pulled out one of Ralph's best wines and made a toast to my promising future. "Ooohh Ralph, I'm so happy. I thought this would be much harder, I even feared I would have to move to the island for a few weeks," I sigh. "You know how I appreciate luxuries. Heating water and more of that is not really my thing. Rain saved me from a sour time". Again the couple bursts into laughter; they are really enjoying themselves at my expense. Later I will remind Ralph of the nights at the club not long ago when he was distraught because he couldn't find a suitable mate. He often got drunk and I had to support him to his accommodation. Now that he finally has the perfect mate, he has forgotten his past misery. Not for long, put your money on that.
We have a quick dinner before the whole operation starts.
My heart beats with anticipation, I never thought I would feel so much like a pup in love. I, the strong and confident Alpha of Midnight Moon, am being whipped. By a gorgeous human woman. My pack is after Storm Forest, the most influential of all. Strong and filthy rich. Alpha Jasper had found his mate early on, putting him one step ahead of me in terms of strength. But that changes after today when I have my mate with me and my wolf feels proud and loved. I feel Ink getting excited inside me, he is wagging his tail like crazy.
"It's really not that bad, Esis. I endured it for four days. Thanks to Peter, I actually missed very little. Because the cold water was actually the most horrible thing but besides that, everything just takes getting used to," Rain tells me. "But maybe it's easy for me to say. I don't know what luxury I come from, so just the cold water was a turn-off for me," she laughs. Ralph holds her by the hand. "When we get to the Kingdom, you won't know what hit you. It's top of the line there. My parents have moved with the times, put in all the modern conveniences," he vows to her. Although I'm damn sure this woman was not impecunious before she met Ralph. He himself said she owned several real estates and the brands of the cars he named proved millions of capital. Rain doesn't seem to need the Kingdom to take care of her. Something is so strange about this woman, her scent is familiar, I think again. Ooohh, well, I now have my mate to think about, Ralph will sort out everything about his woman.
"My King, the expected yacht is close by. The crew has already made contact".
Ivor, the Chief Warrior steps in. Strict as always and in official uniform. He nods to us before turning back to Ralph for orders. "Perfect. As soon as they're close enough, we'll sail to the island. We'll go in two speedboats on shore, one for the cargo and the other to get the people. With eight in one boat, we'll still manage". Ivor nods but hesitates when I raise a hand. When I look out of the cabin port, I can see the lights of my yacht approaching in the distance. It is now close to midnight. But I also see that the sea is beginning to get more ferocious. "Ralph, the waves are getting higher. Maybe we'd better sail around the island and go ashore on the other side. I'll call Peter to let him know".
Ralph beckons Ivor to carry out my suggestion and the man leaves. After my conversation with Peter, that is settled. I want to avoid being in the smaller boats while the high waves surprise us. Rain might be startled by that; I don't want her to relive the trauma of the accident of some days ago. Ralph looks at me gratefully; he has understood my intent well.
Five minutes later, the yacht moves again.
We are heading toward the island; we will approach it as closely as possible. I walk on deck, impatiently waiting for the moment we can move to the smaller boats. The anchor drops, I immediately untie the speed boat and jump in. Now it's just waiting for my two friends. "Are you still planning to come along, lovebirds? Leave everything else for later, you'll have more time," I exclaim. They appear on deck, both changed into more comfortable clothes.
"Somebody's in a hurry. Let's not keep him waiting, Rain," Ralph teases as he jumps aboard and helps Rain to get in. I start the machine and finally head toward the island where my mate is waiting. The water on this side of the island is much calmer, which I actually expected. The tall trees block most of the strong wind.
And then I see her, my beautiful mate. Magda.
I smile broadly, this is incredible. I feared it would take months, but the Moon Goddess was on our side. Once I drop the anchor, I jump out and run to meet her. I pick her up and swing her around a few times before hugging her tightly. "Ooohh baby, how glad you trusted me sufficiently to agree to come with me. I promise you that your life will be an amazing dream starting today. My mission from now on is to make you as happy as possible, you will have nothing to complain about, my love."
She snuggles into my arms, a sign that the attraction I feel for her is mutual. The mate bond works on her, too. "Promise?" she whispers against my chest. "More than I can say with words. If you were ready, we'd be married tomorrow. But I understand you need time to get to know me and get used to your new surroundings," I tell her.
"Well, mister, we'll hold you to that then. We consented to this because Rain assured us that you are highly reliable and she will be there too," I hear my father-in-law say behind me. I detach myself from my mate for a moment to face her father. "Sir, I am a man of word. I have never before made a lady any promises I could not keep. Magda is the only one I promised to stay by her side forever. And you can hold me to that"....
