Done and Over

When I wake up again, it is already around noon.
I decide to inspect the preparations for the coronation. From my balcony, I see that all the buildings and streets close to the Palace are decorated. The garden also looks beautiful, with colored lightbulbs hanging between trees. When I exit my apartment, the hallways and even the elevator are also shrouded in bright-colored fabric. The main floor is unrecognizable incredible, everything shines as if the workers had worked the whole night. Alidya really does have her own way of showing how content she is with Saray as a daughter-in-law, even though her son will not be able to claim his mate for himself alone. I wonder if these mates have ever considered trying out a threesome once in a while.
I follow the signposts from the Palace to the main hall where Saray and Jasper's coronation will take place in a few hours. All along the route, there are installations for lighting techniques that will be performed once the two are officially installed as the Queen and King of the Royal Kingdom of Werewolves. Along the roads there are wide screens so that those at a distance can also follow the event. Everything looks perfectly organized.
As I walk into the hall, I see workers still arranging chairs and tables. There is a high stage set up at the front.
Almost all the Alphas of werewolf packs will come in person to greet the Queen and new King and bring their Luna with them. Their second visit in a month. The Queen is especially important to the Lunas, she is the coordinator of all major projects in packs. Also, she sees to it that laws regarding women and children enacted in the Council, are respected by all packs. Saray will be president of the Foundation of Lunas. Her main concern is the welfare and spiritual safety of women in packs.
Look, I have no grudge against Saray.
It's just the outline on which Selene wants to rule the Kingdom that doesn't sit well with me. And nobody gets to challenge her decision, werewolves don't maintain a democratic system. And I understand that perfectly, and to some extent, I agree with it. Because with the humans, this so privileged system grotesquely results in only misery. In the end, capitalists appear to rule over the poor. We don't know that in packs, here we are one big family taking care of each other. I really feel sorry for Ralph, I suspect his life will be a lit hell from today. Nobody and especially Lycans, can't stand other people touching their mate. And knowing that when your mate isn't next to you at night, she's in the arms of another man a few rooms away, man! Not a pleasant prospect.
And the Alpha definitely didn't look happy when Ralph took Saray with him.
Well, as long as work is not affected by this love triangle and life in the Palace is harmonious, all is well for me. I step onto the stage where aerial workers are busy applying the Kingdom's logo. I check the security measures and the three thrones. This will be the first appearance of our three-headed leadership. Hopefully, the event will be orderly. In the past period, there was some vicious gossip about this in the Kingdom. I have firmly suppressed those, no one is authorized to dispute or smear a decision of the Moon Goddess. In addition, I demand complete submission to Lycan authority. Gossip never has a good outcome and I especially want to protect Saray from meanness and jealousy.
Anyway, all CCTV are in the right places with strategic angles.
Despite Ivor's fierce infatuation, he has everything set up well. The thrones are positioned in such a way that even a sniper cannot have a good shot at them. Nope, everything is fine here. I make a mental note to compliment that Chief Warrior for this excellent job.
"Eric," I suddenly hear softly behind me.
My heart misses a beat, a pleasing shiver runs down my spine. I know who is behind me. That must be Blonde, my soon-to-be ex-mate. At ease, I turn around. Longing, she yawns into my eyes, I feel the attraction kick into action. I stare tightly into those beautiful round eyes that are now cautious. She senses the change in my aura. "Eric," she tries again hesitantly.
"Warrior, I summon you to observe the lines of authority. My contact title is Secretary. Can you abide by that!" I demand authoritatively. She flinches and takes a step back. Her face turns red. "I'm sorry, Secretary," she stammers, tears appearing in her eyes. I sigh, this is the moment when I have to break it off with her. I walk toward her until our chests are close. With two fingers, I lift her head. "I, Eric Blakely, Secretary of the Royal King of Werewolves, reject you, Clair, warrior of the former Storm Forest pack as my mate. From today on, we have only a working relationship". She cringes instantly, her face a twisted mask as she clutches her breast. To ease her pain, I rub her back. But she jerks away from me and stumbles down the stairs.
I only feel a tug in my chest; it's as if two ends of a rope are cutting loose.
Pityingly, I look at her. She probably expected a lot from our mating and is now severely disappointed. I would have loved to entertain her, but she came at the wrong time in my life. Men won't have a chance with her for a while. But I am sure with time she will come around and pick up the sad ends of her life and make the best of it.
Again I sigh deeply and walk back inside through the back of the Palace.
As I pass the entertainment room, I hear high-pitched laughter. I prick up my ears and there I hear her. My chosen one. I smile. No, I'm not going into action right now, this is not the right time...
