Luna I Need
In the Storm Forest pack
"Alpha, we've lost track of her again. She was last seen in the office. Our informant says she resigned and disappeared out of a sudden". Behind me, I hear my Beta Jace reporting. He leads the team in Human Town where I'd spent two unforgettable days with Rain.
Rain, my mate! The Moon Goddess gave me her, but my family and the pack were impatient.
They expelled her, made her act out of desperation. We are madly in love with each other, she confirmed that over and over again during our time together. No, she screamed it every time we had mad sex, when I teased her repeatedly with my body in the familiar irresistible way. My mate, I know all about her, how to please her, to get her to confess her love to me till her voice was gone. Like Rain, there is no woman, I want no one but her. It's Rain or I stay single forever, there are no other options for me.
I turn around on my desk chair and face Jace.
Fear is plastered on his face. The last time he came to me with such bad news, not even his wolf could heal him easily. My wolf whipped him for doing such a lousy job, and to be honest, I now feel sorry for the man. He's my best friend, but when it comes to Rain, he knows I can't have much. His face is red now, his hands trembling a little.
"Jace, is it so hard to track a petite human? It's not like she broke through the woods in her wolf form and disappeared. Someone must have seen her, her scent must have lingered somewhere," I lecture him in a deadly tone. My eyes begin to flame lightly. I notice his wolf trying to reach mine to calm it down. Jax is furious and demands that we find Rain as soon as possible. According to him, she needs us to be with her. And when I ask him why he is suddenly so demanding of his mate when he knows how much effort we are putting into finding her, he just growls menacingly at me. Well, when a wolf roars at his human form, something serious is going on.
"Jasper," Jace starts over now. "If Rain doesn't want to be found, she knows how to do that. She's not a human, she's a werewolf. She loves you and knows you're looking for her. Why not give it a rest until she makes contact herself? Or just until she's less alert? This hunt isn't doing you any good either," he tries to reason with me. "Listen, it's been a month now that we've been searching in vain. I've put our informants on the lookout in all the packs. If she even appears anywhere, we'll be informed right away. And her best friend Natalie is also on our side, as soon as she knows more, she'll call me".
Jace hesitates for a moment and I immediately know that there is something he is holding back.
It must be essential information or he wouldn't take this high risk of withholding it from me. "Now tell me what you know, Jace. There's more," I declare dryly, looking at him sternly. He hesitates again, looking down at his toes and then up at my nose again. "Jasper, Natalie told me Rain disappeared the same day as the CEO. She saw the man kissing her once; he's been smitten with Rain ever since the day he saw her. Everyone in the company already noticed," he declares cautiously. "What is the woman suggesting by that? That Rain is cheating on me?" I ask, my fangs elongating, my wolf fighting to take over. But if I allow that to happen now, Jace won't survive it this time.
"Natalie told me Rain wasn't exactly thrilled with him. But the man was persistent and now they have disappeared together," my Beta answers cautiously. Just the idea of another man touching Rain, sharing the bed with her and making love to her makes me let out a howl of pain. No one, I say no one, is authorized to touch her, I am her mate and she belongs to me. I am the only one who may and can please her, make her lose herself in ecstasy. My heart beats in my throat when I think of her giving another male permission to handle her the way only I am authorized to do.
"What do you think for yourself, Jace? You were friends with Rain for years in school. Do you think she's capable of even looking at another man while we were together for two days?" I ask skeptically. Jace nods with relief. "Exactly. I think the man might be a werewolf too, and Rain confided in him. He helped her get away. She loves you, in an unnatural way. She will never belong to another, that Luna of ours," he indicates proudly. A smile crosses my face. Jace was actually the only one who protected Rain in the pack. Even from my family. If I had to leave for business, I knew Jace would keep her safe.
"Okay. Stay in touch with the informants. And as soon as there is any news, don't hesitate to let me know. I am available day and night," I hold him tightly. He makes a slight bow and leaves.
Again I turn around to face the glass wall and look down over my pack. This investigation needs to perform faster, I want Rain in my arms. I miss her like hell. This whole situation makes me so insecure. My beautiful mate. I am ready to leave this entire position and pack to live on a desert island with her. I turn around again and open the drawer of my desk. There is the letter she left for me in Human Town.
My eyes run over the lines.
'Know that your pain is mine too,' she wrote. She knew our separation would be damn hard, but her love for me prevailed. She wants me to be the Alpha my pack demands. But all I want is to be the perfect mate my Luna needs. The whole letter screams out her love for me, the love I need to breathe, to live.
"No, Rain. I'm not giving up on you. I'll kill this whole pack if they refuse to accept you as their Luna. I'll get you back by my side and make sure you're happier than ever before," I swear in a whisper....
