Sages Call
Secretary Eric's POV again
Oops!!! That was in the nick of time.
Saray still recognizes that Alpha as her fated mate despite her amnesia. I arrived just in time and saw the two looking at each other like teenagers in love. Never before have I seen that intense look in the woman's eyes. She loves the Alpha, that's for sure; conversely, he adores her. His eyes exposed that all, he was like a drunken man recognizing a bottle of fine wine after a long time. Never have I seen that look in Saray's eyes when she's with Ralph. In time I was able to bring her along and also led the Alpha astray by calling her Saray. That name confusion might increase his doubts that she is his mate. On top of that, the Coast Guard has already convinced him that Rain has died at sea.
My cousin must be careful now, if the two meet again, he will be on the loser's end. After the incident, I called him and reported what had happened. Totally panicked, he immediately jumped on the Royal Jet towards Human Town to get Saray back before her fated mate increased his search and found her. Gosh, that man really went crazy, he was in the middle of a meeting with the Sages and left the men sitting just to save his honor. Well, well. If he only knew how I solved my own problem with my mate! But that, of course, is another matter.
And now here we are in the Jet, heading back home.
Ivor took this early departure well; he promised Elena to call her often and she would not have any chance to complain. Magda was endeared by her younger sister's adoration for the warrior, while we werewolves knew better. The Chief Warrior notified me with a quick nod that the task I had assigned him and the Alpha was successfully finalized. So without any worry, I now sat back in my chair, waiting for the moment we finally arrive in the Kingdom.
An hour later, the Jet lands and I jump out first.
I need a moment to myself, losing a mate isn't as easy as I thought after all. I leave the further handling of the Royals' arrival to Ivor; he understands that I need time alone. When I finally enter my apartment, I slam the door behind me and walk straight to the bathroom. My mate's scent is still on me, and I need to get rid of it soon before anyone notices. In a palace full of Royals with advanced senses, I am at high risk. At this point, I am not ready to tell Natalie's story to anyone so I have to keep this matter low.
As the hot water flows over my body, my thoughts go back to the great sex I had with my mate. She seemed born to satisfy me. Despite being a virgin, she perfectly understood the game of love. She was exactly as I projected the she-wolf who would share my life with me. I can still smell her sweet arousal, the taste of her juices is still on my tongue. Heavenly was that. I must find a way to get rid of her memories quickly, maybe it will help if I look up an old playmate of mine and indulge myself there.
A loud knock on my door stuns me out of my musings.
Someone is rarely at my door. When I am in my private quarters, Ralph communicates with me through the mind link so this person must have an interest other than that of the King and Queen. At first, I want to ignore it; I'm not really in the mood for visits. But when the loud bangs repeat, I sigh deeply and step out of the tub. Wrapping a towel around my waist, I walk to the intercom beside my bed. "What's the problem?" I blurt rudely. There is silence for a moment until I hear a servant's anxious voice. "Secretary, the Sages demand your presence in the small conference room. It is urgent and you must be there within half an hour. Everyone is already there waiting for you," the woman squeaks. I cursed inwardly; I was not waiting for this right now. My plans will now have to be postponed.
Quickly I grab a pair of formal pants and a shirt from the walk-in closet and put them on.
After combing my fingers through my hair a few times, I step out the door. 'Ralph, the Sages in the little conference room. Do you know what's going on? Usually it's you who notifies me to be there too,' I consult my cousin in the mind link. I don't wait for his reply and contact Ivor right away. He must know what the Sages are up to; there is nothing in the Palace that escapes the Chief Warrior. 'Ivor, what's up, man? I'll meet the Sages in a few seconds in the conference room'.
'Eric, I don't know either. Had thought I was having a nice afternoon with my mate and I just got called in too. I think you're in trouble. What have you been up to in Human Town? Something you didn't tell me?' Ralph now asks in amazement. An anxious suspicion comes to me. No, it can't be, we just came from Human Town and the Sages can't know what happened there yet. 'Perhaps they have already received the date of Saray's coronation from the Oracle? I can't think of anything else in such a hurry,' I reply, suppressing my sense of unease. Immediately I feel a tremendous energy flow through the mind link. 'Eric! That would be fantastic. Finally, the day comes for me to mark Saray. Then she will be all mine forever, I can appear with her in public freely without fear of someone else claiming her. With that, her bond with the Alpha breaks permanently. Ooohhh goodness! I hope you're right,' my cousin shouts out.
Well, so do I.
When the three of us simultaneously walk into the small room, there are not only the three Sages sitting there, but also Randall, the former King. The men all have stern faces on. As Ralph, Ivor and I sit down and now turn to face the men on the other side of the table, Elder Nicolas stands up. He looks us one by one deeply into our eyes. "Would each of you like to tell us for yourselves what happened in Human Town?" he speaks emphatically slowly.
All three of us freeze.
Our brains are working overtime.
The actual analysis of our private shit is clear. Ralph rushed his mate back after she met her destined mate, Ivor is mated with a minor who is fascinated with him, and I ..... Well, yes, I admit that of all three of us, I am the most fucked up....
