Ralph and I walk past the rings in the display case.
Diamond is actually the engagement ring of general choice, but I see my friend looking at the Rubies. For Magda, I bought a nice one that she picked out herself. But I think Ralph wants his marriage proposal to be unexpected and top-of-the-line. In the end, he chooses a breathtaking one that I'm sure will fit Rain perfectly but is unusual for an engagement ring. But who am I to stop him, besides it is the occasion that gives the gift value. If Rain agrees to become his wife, I suspect much of his uncertainty will disappear. He probably just doubts her fidelity and level of commitment.
Full of pride, he walks to the car with his ring in his possession.
He looks relieved. I really hope it works out between the two, although I have to admit they are an odd couple. Rain doesn't really seem to be much into Ralph, she is impressed by him but not really in love. Never have I seen her stare adoringly at her man as Magda often does with me in front of third parties. She lacks that swooning you find in women in love. And that is the cause of her mate's insecurity about their relationship.
When we arrived home, I grabbed my suit from the back seat and walked into the house.
From the direction of the terrace, I hear enthusiastic voices; the women are back from yet another shopping spree. My in-laws insisted on taking care of Magda's necessities themselves, as is the culture among humans. But I know they are impecunious; they certainly don't know the cost of a wedding party in Human Town. It can run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars and preparing Magda will certainly cost at least another fifty thousand. And my inlaws won't be able to afford that.
So I gave Rain my credit card and arranged with the designer store to charge the parents a meager price plus all kinds of discounts and send the bill to me. Rain will then take care of paying the rest with the card. I stand for a moment to listen to what all the joy is about. Magda had forbidden me to look at her dress and other items. According to her superstition, bad luck comes from that.
I sharpen my hearing and hear my mate talking about the lingerie she just bought today.
Her voice softens as she points out how sexy she looks in it. "Rain, do you think I'll be able to charm him? I mean, for a lifetime? Won't he have enough of me one day and then take a mistress? You know, like we see all the time in movies, a secret love that is always more exciting than a wife at home?" I hear her ask anxiously. A chair slides back hard, I think Rain goes over to comfort her. Relieved, I breathe, Rain is a werewolf and knows how the mating works. Once mated and marked, the pull exists only between the two of us, with no third parties involved.
"Magda, I can give you full assurance that Esis will be yours alone for his entire life. When you marry tomorrow, he will give you his body and mind, you will belong to each other for a lifetime," Rain tells her softly but confidently. "Don't worry about anything, enjoy him and make him happy." I hear a soft gasp, Magda has become emotional from her friend's words. "And let me be the godmother of your first baby, Magda. I insist on that".
I'm so dead here.
A pup from Magda. That's all I desire after tomorrow. After that one night, I avoided having any kind of sex with her. I know I'm on heat, next time, I won't be able to hold back. The next time we are like that, we must be married and all.
I already know enough. My speech at our wedding will give Magda the assurance she needs.
My silly mate! Thinking I would ever want another beside her. That is impossible. Cheerfully whistling, I make my way to my bedroom, where I hang the plastic in the walk-in closet. I sit on my patio with my laptop to finish some work that I definitely won't get around to tomorrow.
On the eve, I begin to get restless.
Ink keeps me from working further, he is excited about our marriage. Or rather, the prospect of finally owning our mate tomorrow night. That wolf of mine can only think about sex, for him, the whole ceremony may be postponed. My thoughts go back to Magda and her worrying words. A stab goes through my heart, I must reassure her even before she steps into the church tomorrow. Tomorrow, a confident bride must face me, radiant because she knows she is mine alone.
I get up, take a hot bath and put on some sports clothes.
As I pass by her room door, I hesitate. I catch her scent behind the closed door; she is in her room. Softly I knock on the door. "Magda, come to the door. I want to talk to you. You don't have to open it, but I want you to listen to me," I say urgently and knock again. A few seconds pass and then I hear her get off her bed and walk to the door. "Esis," she whispers. "I was just thinking about you, babe." I smile. "Listen, Magda. I want to tell you this. Tomorrow I want you to face me as the woman who comes to claim her husband. There should be no doubt in your mind that I love you and will cherish you all my life, no matter what," I let her know. Again there is silence.
"All your life, Esis? Forever?" she asks, shaky.
"Forever, my love. My love for you is deep. No one else can capture my heart. I will do anything to avoid you pain. You are my better half," I swear to her. And suddenly the door opens. Magda stands before me in a beautiful robe. "Baby, I love you," I sigh and take her in my arms. It becomes an intense make out. I try to give her the assurances she is looking for and she gives me her everything. Torn with desire, I press her against the wall, she wraps her legs around me. I kiss the skin of her neck down until I reach her full breasts. I hesitate, going further will make me lose my self-control...
