Meeting Rachel

Look, traveling with the Royal Jet was an absolute luxury.
But this one from the Alpha does not undercut it. When I stepped inside, I couldn't believe my eyes. This looks like the anteroom of some oil sheik. I am now sitting on a comfortable couch and the Alpha has just offered me a liqueur. He and Jace now sit in front of me and we leisurely sip our drinks.
"Magda, something about you reminds me immensely of my mate. Her scent is with you, but there's something more. Like you connect me to her," the Alpha declares at one point. "I have never before brought a stranger, and even than a human at that, into my pack. We werewolves do not reveal ourselves easily to humans, but now that you are mated with Esis and already know of our existence, I make this exception. And also because of the connection I feel. My senses tell me that you were in the company of my mate not long ago, perhaps unconsciously".
This is a great compliment.
Saray is my friend and now that her mate has expressed that he appreciates my company, it means that I can continue my friendship with them even when this whole issue is resolved. "Thank you, Alpha. I'm going to take my time getting oriented. I am sure you are an outstanding representation of Storm Forest. Friendly, helpful and intelligent". The men in front of me grin proudly. We continue chatting until we arrive. When the Jet lands, I feast my eyes downward. I see a huge residential community, a large sports field and an imposing building on the north side, against the edge of the forest. That must be the packhouse Jace was talking about, then. It is a combination of an exquisite hotel and mansion, with the pack's name painted in gold color on the roof. I can't wait to get there.
"Welcome to Storm Forest," the Alpha calls to me as I descend the steps.
"Thank you, I'm happy to be here, Alpha," I reply, smiling broadly as I look around eagerly. Five cars are waiting. Jace grabs my hand and leads me to one of the waiting cars. The four of us get into an SUV. The car goes at high speed through some streets, with the rest of the vehicles behind us. I give my eyes a good look around. The buildings are modern and well-maintained and the streets are spotless. It is now afternoon, and here and there teenagers are walking around; they are clearly from the sports arena. I see bars and restaurants, clothes stores, jewelers, butcheries and everything we have in Human Town.
"Hey, this is like a small town. You guys have everything here. Human Town is nothing to you," I can't help but exclaim. "You got it all together here. Well done, Alpha". And the atmosphere feels good, too. I hope Esis' pack looks that great, too. Finally we arrived at the house I had seen from the air. But now that I'm standing in front of it, it's much more impressive.

"Jasper! You're back!"
Before I knew it, I saw a young woman running up and falling around the Alpha's neck. She kisses him on the chin as she presses her body against him. "You stayed away for so long and I missed you so much. Why didn't you even bother to call me?" she blames him. The Alpha remains standing still, his hands against his body. He makes no effort to respond to this warm welcome. Beside me, I hear Jace sigh irritated. "Goodness. Some never understand the hint," I hear him mutter inwardly. But then I become aware of the Alpha's aura. He seems detuned. Suddenly he grabs the woman by her arms and pushes her backward. "Rachel, what do you think you're accomplishing with this? Stop this nonsense," he growls. He steps past her to the wide doors of the packhouse. The woman looks at him shyly at first until an expression of dejection appears on her face. And then she sees me standing there and smiles back kindly at me.
"Hi, I'm Rachel, this pack's soon-to-be Luna. Jasper didn't tell me we would have a guest," she indicates and offers me her hand. I take it and smile back. "I'm Magda and actually friends with Jace. We met and he was kind enough to bring me here to see how a pack lives together". Rachel bows her head around me to look at Jace for a moment. "Yes, our Beta is always welcoming. For a moment I thought you were his mate," she confessed. "I see a mark on you but only now notice he is still unmarked. Who is your mate?"
Even before I could answer, Jace grabbed me by the hand again.
"Rachel, Magda has barely arrived and you're already bombarding her with personal questions," he points out to the woman. "Why do you want to know who her mate is? She's not from this pack, so you don't know him". I see Rachel cringe, she's probably not the favorite she-wolf in the packhouse. I almost feel sorry for her. Before I can turn to her again, Jace pulls me into the house. "Hey, my suitcase. Aren't you taking it for me?" I ask him, still looking backward. But Jace doesn't halt in his steps. "Don't worry about that. The warriors take care of it". We stride into an elevator, and when the door closes, I turn to him. "That was rough, Jace. Why did you cut her off? She just wanted to be friendly to a guest. I didn't mind replying to her".
Jace shakes his head in denial. "Uh huh. That wasn't her intention. She's not what she pretends to be. Stay away from her as much as you can". His answer puzzles me. "She is the Luna here. Then how am I supposed to stay away from her? She is the hostess, it would be terribly inappropriate for me to bypass her," I respond to my new friend.
"She's lying. Rain is Jasper's only mate. Rachel is her sister and thinks she can take her place," he clarifies. "Jasper himself told you about his mate. This Rachel is just jealous that her younger sister found her mate earlier. At her age, she probably ends up as an old spinster. Jasper will never forget Rain nor replace her until he sees with his own eyes that she is dead," he continued. "And with meeting you, he is now more than certain that Rain is still alive. Rachel has no chance at the title. It's only Rain's"....
