A Painful Story

Excited I walk beside Jace into the mansion.
It is a colossal building with beautiful bright gleaming white and huge chandeliers. As we step inside, I am immediately struck by how clean and organized the place is. The hallways are spacious, everything exudes wealth but not in an overwhelming way. Jace leads me into a spacious sitting room with comfortable-looking couches. After my marriage to Esis, I have only known luxury, the villa is absolutely top-notch, but this here is like the Kingdom, extravaganza and inviting.
"Can you wait here for a moment?", Jace requests. "Just checking to see if Jasper can accommodate you now. When I'm in the house, I don't like to mind link him, because he might be busy". He walks into a double door, the Alpha's office, I assume. My heart beats faster, if the man fits Saray's description, this is my third and final clue and then it is confirmed that this man belongs to my friend. So then I still have to get into the pack.
Two minutes later, Jace reappears, but his face is tense this time.
Whatever happened in the room, my meeting with the Alpha seems as important to them as it is to me. "Magda, come with me. Jasper is waiting for you," Jace informs me. I take a few deep breaths and get up to walk with my new friend. As we pass through the doors, I feel a strong aura, so overwhelming that I blink my eyes a few times. My eyes search around the room I've ended up in and then I see him standing there. Only my hubby beats this guy but by a narrow margin. In front of me stands the revived Adonis. This Alpha is an idol, tall in stature, his shoulders broad and athletic, but his face is most striking. He is resistless handsome and I can quite understand why Saray, who I have never actually seen looking at Ralph passionately, fell head over heels for this Alpha.
Esis stole my heart and I don't want to replace him with anyone, but the man here before me is worth hell. "Alpha, I am Magda, the mate of Alpha Esis of Midnight Moon," I introduce myself with my hand outstretched. But Jace grabs my hand and holds it in his. When I look at the Alpha, his face softens. "Hello Magda, you must have heard from Jace that I am Jasper, the Alpha of Storm Forest," he replies kindly, finally allowing me to relax. "Come a few steps closer, I want to observe if my mate's scent is indeed hanging around you." Without thinking, I stride closer to him and look up at his face. Yes, he fits the description Saray gave me, he is the man. Relieved, I smile, I have now completed more than half of my mission and even then, within hours of leaving the Kingdom. I am damn proud of myself, a simple island girl successfully carrying out an assignment from the Queen of Werewolves.
"Definitely!" exclaims the Alpa. "You met Rain. Tell me all about her. Where is she?" he asks eagerly. "I need to speak to her. I'm willing to compensate you well for it". I shake my head dismissively. "Alpha, Jace described her but I can't remember a woman who matches that. I have met hundreds of women in my husband's house and on the way here". He walks back to his desk and falls down on his chair, dejection evident on his face. "This is driving me crazy. I miss her so terribly. We were together for two days a few months ago and I thought everything was fine between us again. Until she disappeared and later got involved in a boat accident. And the Coast Guard told me she didn't survive. But my wolf refuses to accept that, he is convinced she is alive because we would have felt it through the mate bond if she had died," he says with a hand over his face. It is as if he is telling the story to himself for the hundredth time.
"When Jace told me he had met a woman with a scent of my Rain on her, I regained hope. Hope that my wolf's instinct was correct. I want so badly for her to live, my Rain. If only I had protected her better from the pack and my family," he says in a thick voice. "I searched for her at sea. We approached an island where I saw fire on the beach, but the waves were too. The day after, I went to the island anyway but it was deserted. Rain's scent was so fresh there. But there was no trace of her".

Torn, I listen to this painful discourse of a desperate man in search of his beloved.
I have to stop myself from not telling him the good news, but I consider that Saray left him for a reason. The pack, she couldn't take it anymore. It must take a lot of willpower to leave a man like this Alpha. Jasper reminds me a lot of Esis, their love is deep and complete. Only I don't intend to stay away from my mate for that long, it would drive me crazy. But there must be a weighty reason why Saray chose this solution, and I want to get to the bottom of it.
"A few days ago, I met a woman in a restaurant. I swear it was Rain, I could feel the mate bond. She looked at me the same way with her silver eyes and even came up to me. But a man suddenly appeared out of nowhere and pulled her with him. He called her Saray," the Alpha continued. "If only I had marked her from the beginning. We wanted to wait until her wolf also appeared and then mark each other simultaneously. We thought that would be great, we heard so many great things about that".
Silently I let him pour out his heart. Actually, I don't know what to say.
Saray will be in great hands if it's just about Alpha Jasper.
But going back to Storm Forest, I'm not so sure of that yet....
