Assistance

All I want is to make Jasper as happy as I am.
If peace in the family is worth a lot to him, I am willing to take the first step to clear away whatever strife going on. My mate told me that his mother and sister are ashamed of what happened and therefore, won't come out. But then I wonder if I have done enough in the past to mend the rift between us.
I walk toward Elena's quarters. The little one has gotten Jace to let her have her own apartment on the Alpha floor instead of being placed with the maids' children. Elena has a strong character, she can persuade anyone to do what she wishes in no time. She has stayed in the pack all the weeks, lending a helping hand at the daycare and preschool. Almost every mother knows her and she gets requests to help at the vacation school more often. I am so proud of my little friend.
When I step into her apartment, I hear her giggling.
I see her sitting at a kitchen island, her laptop open in front of her. She is on FaceTime and it's obvious who is entertaining her. I sit down next to her and yes, I am right. On screen, I see the Chief Warrior of the Palace smiling widely. "Ivor, you're out of the doghouse. Good for you," I tease, chuckling. He grins sportingly. "Incredible that a girl of twelve is able to do that. My Queen, can you rescue me from her grasp? She's too harsh on me," he complains, pained. We laugh at his funny face.
"My Queen, preparations are progressing steadily. In a week, you will be living here permanently and the Palace will be a nice place to stay again. I mostly miss our time at the dinner table," he declares sincerely. "The King looks so lost without you. Since you left, he is making long hours in his study. Eric has already expressed concern a few times that the King will soon collapse from exhaustion," he sighs. "But luckily, you'll be there soon and then the whole situation will go back to normal." For some reason, his words do not impress me. I'm not really looking forward to seeing Ralph again. Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy and we've had good moments together. But after all this time with Jasper, my relationship with my mate is already complete. There's no room for a third party.
And then I remember the Moon Goddess's words.
She indicated that she would activate the mate bond for me to also feel a pull toward Ralph. Well, I will have to wait and see until the reunion how that will work. But for now, all I want to be is in Rasper's arms. I notice Ivor staring at me inquiringly; my reaction has not escaped his notice. But thankfully, he remains silent on the subject. Someone calls him in the background and it is time for him to say goodbye to us. When Elena closes her laptop, she looks at me, beaming. "My Queen, to what do I owe your valued visit to my quarters," she teases. "What can a simple human girl do for you?"
I roll my eyes at her pomposity and hug her from behind.
"I have a special project for you," I inform her. "It's something like an investigation in the packhouse or elsewhere." She jumps off her barstool. Elena likes mysterious cases with happy endings. So I'm so sure she will successfully complete this assignment I have for her. I brief her about my plan and what I expect from her. She grins delightedly; I know she can't wait to get going. After a quick hug, I leave her place and head to the Alpha apartment to get some rest. The pups are getting more restless these days and I need rest more.
After several hours, I move on to another mission to accomplish my plan.
I track down Ruth at my parents' house. She is just sitting with her mate watching television when I step inside. The two are clearly surprised to see me; besides my nightly walks with Jasper, I recently barely left the packhouse. My stomach is round as a barrel and walking is not easy anymore. "Rain," John exclaims. "Sister-in-law, why do you take the trouble of walking here? If only you had called us, I would have come to pick you up at the packhouse. This is not the time to walk great distances". I wave away his concern and sit down on the chair he pulls in front of me.
I tell them about my plan and rave to them for help.
Ruth hesitates; according to her, I should not initiate all this. I am the Luna and should demand respect from pack members, whoever they may be. After a bit of back and forth, I got her on board, though not wholeheartedly.
We decide to go straight to the mall a few miles from the pack. John has one of Jasper's cars, so he offers to take us there.

When we arrive, John decides to stay in the food court for a beer.
He complains of not quite understanding what women see in shopping when everything can be bought online. The items would then be delivered to the pack's general storage in Human Town, which is emptied twice a week. But I wanted to take a closer look at the items myself. After an hour, with some tips from Ruth, I had everything I was looking for. Satisfied, I grab her by the arm and return to the food court where her mate waits patiently.
Exhausted but accomplished, I drop into a vacant seat.
And when John orders our food, I don't waste any time. I have finished three burgers, some more twister fries, and chicken strips in no time. It takes some effort to get back to the car. We eventually managed to reach Storm Forest.
The wait now is for Elena to complete my plan....
