63. What are you doing here?!

Veera swung on the bungee rope, looking down at the river below.
At first she was afraid of the jump. But thanks to Ares giving her a push Veera not only screamed her heart out, she actually enjoyed dangling over the water. The fall gave her an incredible sense of rush and thrill, and she absolutely loved it. She loved it so much, that she did it at least three times.

Ares laughed as she ran over to him and jumped on his back, with great excitement.

"I can't believe I did that three times?!"

"I'm glad you enjoyed it, because now, you can jump with me in the water?"

Veera froze when he said that.

"You're kidding right?"

"Not at all."

"Woah, woah! Stop, stop!? Why would I want to jump in the water like that? Are you forgetting the fact that I can't swim?!"

"Veera you wanted to know why I made you jump? Well it was to get rid of your fears, and you did."

"Well, yeah? But I had the rope holding me from falling!"

"Baby, I know you can jump in the water too, just give it a try?"

Ares went towards for a run and Veera screamed hugging his back.

"You crazy!!"

**R: Only about you bae**

Ares, was only messing with her. He chuckled and shook his head. Ofcourse he was going to jump with her in the water. Cliff diving was no doubt one of the things he wanted to do the most with her. He dropped her gently on the ground and turned around.

"Baby, I was only joking. I was never going to make you jump in the water."

"You're such a bad liar!" Veera chased him and Ares ran away from her laughing in a delight.

All the while, Judy and Thomas (another member of the board) had their eyes discreetly on the two lovers.

**J: I can't believe that pathetic human is his mate.**
**T: Well look at the bright side, she's human.**

Judy was out for vendetta. Because not only did Ares reject her last night, no the hot Alpha also broke her best friends heart. Gina was her best friend and Judy was furious that after three years together Ares cast her aside when this annoying human walked into his life. How dare she!

**J: Well, I'm not going to get my k-9s dirtied**
**T: Guess, I'll just have a taste of her then?**
**J: Taste? Are you kidding me? No Thomas, you're going to end her.** And Ares will end up going back to Gina. Judy smirked and drove away.

Meanwhile.

Back in Oyster Bay (Veera's hometown name)

Leo and Cora were not on speaking terms.

When they arrived back home, Leo went back to his station to acquire some more drugs and at that point, Cora tried to stop him but Leo shoved her to the side and looked at her harshly.

"Why can't you just let her be? She's happy Leo!" Cora said but Leo fumed and punched the wall besides her head.

"She's supposed to be happy with me!"

Cora gasped at his sudden confession.

"You?...You love her?" Cora's eyes were filled with tears.

Leo gave her a dark smile

"Who do you think I was thinking about all this time, when I was making love to you?"

Cora lost her cool with him, and sucker punched him and shook her head at him in utter disgust and hurt.
Leo chuckled wiping off the little blood at the corner of his mouth. He'd done the damage he wanted to do when she saw Kian coming to defend her the other day. But the truth was out.

"GET OUT!" Cora snapped holding in her tears.

"If you ever get in my way of getting Veera back again Cora...." He threatened her harshly with his gun and grabbed his belongings walking out of the apartment.

Cora was stunned, that he say that so coldly to her. That was not her boyfriend, any more. That was a fool in love with his best friend. Veera, who was already happily in love with someone else. She knew, Leo would use all the tracking skills he could acquire from his side, and track Veera down, and this time. Cora was not going to stop him.

If that fool wanted to get into trouble with Ares's pack, by all means he could do so on his own.
But a part of her felt sad. She trully, loved him. If Leo hadn't taken those stupid pills in the first place, he would still be with her. He would have become mad Leo. Mad stupid Leo who was hopelessly in love with Veera.

This wasn't Veera's fault. Leo couldn't help falling for her when she healed him. Shaking her thoughts away.

Cora got a radio call in her cop car.

*We have 10-32 at Takeshi's Hardware store*
Cora grabbed the radio

*C: This is officer 945826...Copy that. I'm on my way*

Cora quickly arrived at the area, and proceeded with caution.

Normally she was with another police partner but today she had taken a day off since she was sick. Cora, didn't mind. It gave her time to think about Leo and unfortunately Kian, too. Why was she thinking about that other fool?

Cora crept up slowly towards the entrance and saw two armed men holding up the clerk at the register.
These punks!

She went behind the back entrance and came in slowly

"HANDS UP!"

Masked man one turned around and started shouting at her, to drop her weapon.

"Drop it or baldy here gets it!" Masked man 2 said.

With no option left Cora complied. If her partner was here, she'd have more back up. But she didn't even have time to call back up.

She'd been in these types of situations numerous times.

"You don't have to do this." Her heart beats were steady and her focus on the man was on target.

Negotiations, were part of her training.

"Yes we do." Masked man 1 said

"No, no, NO! NO PLEASE!!!"

"Takeshi, shutup this is what happens to you when you don't pay up!"

Suddenly the masked men shot the clerk.

Cora cursed holding back her scream of shock. These men, were not first time offenders. They'd been here before and they knew the clerk. They were Money Fish or unofficially debt collectors.

The masked men now turned towards Cora, who was now secretly p!ssing herself inside. She didn't want to die on duty and by the way the masked thugs were acting tonight, she knew she was good as dead.
Suddenly, the entrance door.

"My what a mess."
Cora was stunned to see the one who almost tried to bite her at the beach. Kian?!

"Kian?" Cora whispered out in surprise.

"Hi Cora." He winked and Cora mentally slapped her self. How could he flirt with her in this dangerous situation?!

"Kkk..Kian, get out of here!" Cora said controlling her nervous tension and fear. Kian noted that she was not afraid of her this time. His precious girl was afraid of the goons who just killed the store's clerk.

"Woah, Kian is going nowhere Cora." Masked man 1 said and started firing. Kian dodged the on coming bullets and dissappeared.
The goons looked at each other and then back at Cora. He moved fast and then suddenly the lights in the store went out.

"Did you close the lights?"

"No stupid I didn't!"

"Then who did?!"

Suddenly a mad growl came through the dark and the thugs wailed out shouting. Masked man 2 started shooting after hearing his friend shout out in fear. What the hell was going on?! Cora immdiateld ducked on the floor for cover.

The lights came back on and Masked man 2 freaked out seeing his friend dead by his feet clawed out like an animal.

The gun was snatched away from his hand and twisted by the metal.

Mask man 2 simply peed in fear staring back at a very naked Kian.

"Strip."

He ordered and Mask man 2 quickly complied.

"Now go, before I make you my next meal, punk!"

Cora grabbed her gun from the floor and knocked out Masked man 2 in his underwear. She quickly handcuffed him. She stood up and now shakily pointed her gun towards her Kian, who had his wild glowing green eyes on her.

This time Kian's wolf was under control.

"Babe, are you seriously going to shoot me your hero?"

"What are you doing here?!" Cora's voice of confidence finally came back.

"Isn't it obvious?" In a flash move he knocked the gun out of Cora's hand and pinned her up against the wall.

"I'm here for you." He whispered haughtily against her ear. Cora's heart pounded as she glared at him. Cora ignored the wild tingles and chills Kian sent her. Now was not the time to get turned on.

"Let go of me Kian!" She twisted her wrist out of his grasp but Kian couldn't help himself. He wanted to kiss her, he wanted to scent her, but he couldn't do so with his bloodied mouth. Tonight Cora saw a monster. A monster he didn't want to bring out. He wanted her to see the side that would protect her for life.

"Please!" Cora said meeting his eyes.

The police sirens wailed and Cora gasped looking back at Kian.

"You need to get out of here!"

"Kian go!! Go or they'll arrest you!"

"I want you to arrest me?" Kian tease fully said, having no issues of that.

"Are you crazy?! Noway! Please just go!" Cora said pleadingly with her eyes.

Kian smiled down at her and moved away freeing her off him.

"For now." He ran off from the back entrance.

Jack quickly came inside with his team and saw Cora, who had gone speechless for a while.

"Are you ok?"

"I'm fine." Cora said shaking off the fear and walking away.

Jack looked down at the two bodies.

He was alarmed to see the masked goon clawed up like an animal

Clearly things in this town were not fine.
