68. Ice-cream Troubles
A week later...
Ares and Veera were now back in Italy.
Veera was back at Ares's stunning mansion and he had been nothing but charming and entertaining to her. However he couldn't entertain her too much as he too, was also caught up with his other business meetings. The board members were not happy to find out that Judy had taken over the business in New Zealand, and Ares assured them that he would regain the rights back shortly.
Veera, on the other hand was doing her best to try and be normal again. She was very supportive in all of Ares's business decisions and she sighed at the thought that he was a very busy man. However she was understanding as Ares was a hotelier and many desisions rested upon his shoulders. But that didn't bother her. Somthing else was bothering her. She couldn't forget about what happened in New Zealand with Judy and Thomas.
How could she?
Judy and Thomas made her realise she was nothing but a liability to Ares. She was weak and fragile and they could easily break her, like a twig if they wanted to.
Judy's words rang in her head.
*"Word of advice, little girl, break up with him. Because you'll never survive the big bad wolves that will come after you.*
Veera sighed playing with her big gelato spoon. She hadn't even taken a bite of the mouth-watering ice-cream.
**T: What's wrong with her? She's not her usually cheery self with us today?**
"Baby, the Ice-cream will melt if you don't eat it?" Ares said looking warmly at her.
Veera, could no longer stay calm and collected.
She got up and walked away with the ice-cream and saw a kid that was eyeing up her bowl. He was in rags and Veera walked over to him. She simply handed him her bowl and Ares stood up from his chair as she walked away in silence.
Ares was touched and did the same with his cone making the beggar boy light up with joy. He caught up with his beloved, and walked side by side.
"Not hungry?"
Veera shook her head and went over to the fountain.
She clicked her pictures, and even clicked the boy sharing his ice-cream with another street kid.
Cheekily, Ares photobombed her shot and Veera lowered her gaze giving him a short glare. She would normally would have laughed at his comic tease, however that big cloud over her head, was denying her to laugh today. Veera sighed, and turned her attention away from him and clicked on the fountain instead. She thought photography would make her feel better and distract her, but unfortunately.
That was not helping her forget about Judy.
"C'mon, what's bothering you?" He back hugged her.
Veera relaxed closing her eyes and taking in Ares's warmth. She loved when he consoled her, but right now, she was feeling extremely guilty.
"I'm sorry, I havn't been in the best of moods lately..."
**T: Well, we can easily put you in the mood...**
A: If we make a move on her, we'll be sleeping on the coach again.
Ares shutdown Troy's other pleassurable methods he was thinking cheekily about.
Veera turned around and looked up at him.
"I want to learn how to fight?"
Ares raised a brow.
"What?"
"You heard me, teach me how to fight?"
**T: Well that can be arranged 1 on 1 basis**
Troy wagged his tail in delight.
"Is this about Judy and Thomas? Do you want me to get them for you, right now?" Ares looked down at his watch and Veera grabbed his face gently.
"I'm serious."
Ares was stunned for a sec. He had never seen such a look on her like this before. Veera looked down at his lips, and his heart tugged in his chest. She leaned in and gave him a sweet kiss. Veera wanted to do nothing more than to protect Ares too. But she couldn't do it if she had no combat skill.
"Teach me how to fight please?" She whispered at his ear as he held her waist. If the people were not about, Ares would have taken their make out session to another level. However, he knew he couldn't.
No matter how Troy was howling at him to take her away in a private area, Ares heavily controlled him.
"Babe?"
"I want to learn, please?" She hugged him. Ares sighed and kissed her forehead. He gently pulled away from her hold and looked down at her.
"No." Veera looked disappointed with his answer.
"No?"
"Why not?" Veera asked trying to remain calm and collected.
"Because sweetheart I'm already teaching you swimming, speaking of which? Shouldn't we be having a lesson right now?" He grinned rubbing his hands up and down her arms.
Troy was rather eager to swim with her, and possibly give her some stress relief, from worrying about Judy and Thomas.
Veera rolled her eyes. Although she was kind of of getting turned on by his touch, now was not the time to loose focus.
"Ares stop joking around. I'm serious. I want you to teach me how to fight!"
Ares frowned at her. He was ready to give her anything she asked but not this. How could he? She was his delicate little bird, his special bird that he didn't want her getting hurt. Judy made a big mistake hurting his mate. It was only a matter of time when he got his vengeance.
"No, I won't teach you." He simply said.
She pushed away from him with a cold glare and started walking away, feeling angry and irked.
"Veera stop."
"No! Just leave me alone Ares." She stormed away.
**T: Well-done Romeo**
A: Shutup.
Ares watched as Veera walked away. He gave her a space to cool off, and followed discreetly behind her.
When Veera turned back, she was sad to see him no longer behind her.
"Ares?" She called out to him. But she looked everywhere to find him. He was no longer in the crowds.
Veera felt her mark wound stinging again. She hadn't felt that pain in a long while. Shaking her pain away, Veera continued. She walked around in the night hours and made herself up the stoney staircase of the visitor attraction spot. People were still about, yet her lover had suddenly abandoned her.
A worry fell over her features. It had been over an hour now, and Ares still hadn't showed up in front of her.
Veera quickly pulled out her phone and she went to call him, but then suddenly a passer-by roughly bumped into her and snatched her phone.
Shocked and stunned, Veera got back up to her feet and saw the grey hooded person running away.
"Hey!! Stop! Theif!!!"
Veera started chasing the person and cursed at her sudden circumstances. Ares had lovingly gave her a new phone, since her old one was being traced by Leo. Now was the time to be thinking about her best friend.
"*Lardo!!* Stop!! *Lardo!!*"Ever since she met Ares Veera had taken up a little hobby of teaching herself some Italian through google translate. She never expected to use the word for 'thief' so soon.
No one helped her in her chase, and she was fuming inside since Ares was not around. He could have easily caught that thug by now.
Where are you Ares?
Mind: My thoughts exactly
Heart: He can't have gone too far can he?
Gut: Nah! Or maybe he got kidnapped by the Red Tenshis?
Veera had no time to think about Ares, he couldn't have possibly be kidnapped? Could he? Veera worriedly thought ignoring her watery eyes and keeping focused on the thug.
Catching up on another street, Veera saw the thug go into an alleyway.
She came discreetly by the mouth and entered in carefully. She knew she was being foolish, she knew that she should have just let the theif escape, but at the same time, Veera wanted to challenge herself.
*You're a pathetic weak little human Veera.*
Veera clenched her fists by her side, burying her fear. Hearing Judy's words again made her get p1ssed off, to a certain extent.
The thug turned around and was stunned to see a sweating Veera.
He pulled out a hand knife and grinned at her, hoping to scare her away.
"*Vattene da me, puttana*" He said looking at her angrily. The scruffy vagabond started coming his way and Veera nervously gulped. This was happening!
She never imagined her first fight would be against a theif in Italy.
"I want what you stole for me! Give it back!" Her footsteps stopped rooting her heavily. The knife looked pretty sharp.
"*Che cosa?*" the thug asked quite irritated that she wasn't leaving.
"*Cellulare!*" Veera snapped so adamant on getting her phone back.
"*Oh!! Questa? Non. This is mine."* The thug scoffed with a grin and did some fancy work with the barber knife, like he was some kind of ninja. Veera momentarily thought that was cool. But her thoughts dispersed when he suddenly went to attack Veera, with it.
Mind: Girl!
Heart: Run B1tch Run!
Gut: RUN!
"Ahh! ARES!!" Veera finally came back to her senses and turned towards the exit, but it was too late.
A terrifying rattling growl came through the dark alleyway.
