Chapter 14
Chris's POV.
"You better leave Lord Prince and go find your own lover or I'll kill you." Vicky threatened me.
Sure enough, that's what she's after.
"I would, but Burris wouldn't let me leave. I've run away so many times, didn't he tell you?" I said looking at her troubled.
"Is that so?" She lifted her chin slightly in condescension, looking like she was doubting my words.
"Of course, didn't you just hear that? I have a lover, and I want to go to him." I said looking at her.
Vicky's eyes returned to burgundy as she unfolded a friendly smile and walked towards me, "If you really want to leave, I can help you."
That's what I was waiting for, and I immediately agreed with her, "That would be wonderful, thank you, Vicky."
Vicky was happy to learn that I was leaving and sent me back to my room.
On the way, while she was in a good mood, I read her thoughts.
She originally wanted to torture me with Rosebud's thorns, then dismissed the idea, and later she wanted to send me away from the manor before finding an opportunity to eradicate me once and for all.
I was taken aback and immediately withdrew my mind-reading ability. I got much irritated at her thoughts and my situation.
With Vicky's help, I might be able to escape the villa without any problems, but I would be facing Vicky's difficulties alone.
Could I beat her? It's a gamble.
Back at the door to the room, Vicky was leaving. We maintained an apparent peace and said goodnight to each other.
I opened the door to my room and there, in the darkness, stood a figure with his back to me. I was just about to cry out in alarm when the dark figure lunged at me, and he was incredibly fast!
I prepared myself to withstand his attack, but he just kissed me.
It was Burris. My eyes widened in surprise.
He was rough as if it was his first kiss, and both two s cold and soft lips were on the verge of grinding out of him.
I raised my hands against his strong chest and tried to back away, but my waist was tightly circled by him.
My lips knocked against his teeth, and the pain irritated me.
I bit him on the mouth in exasperation, and his kiss became more violent. And, I tasted a bit of alcohol in his mouth.
I had no way to break free and had to endure it until Burris calmed down.
Just as he let go of me, I pushed him away hard and said coldly, "Do vampires get drunk too? You're so rude, Burris."
I wiped my lips hard.
He almost fell over when I pushed him and held on to the wall before he stood up, and he did look like he'd had a lot to drink.
His eyes were bloodshot and he stared at me in silence.
He was stubborn as a child and I didn't want to argue with the drunk so I had to slow my voice down and ask him, "Are you going to stand here the whole time Burris? Go back and rest."
"If I won t drain you, will you still leave here?" Burris asked.
"Yes, I don't belong here." I said with a sigh.
"And where do you belong? You're a vampire." He reminded me.
"Yes, I told you that once. I'm not Chris, I used to be a human, and ..."
I paused and looked at him as I continued, "And I used to be a hunter, a vampire hunter."
Burris' eyes were a little blank, perhaps because he was drunk, and he looked innocent and harmless.
"Hunter? You mean before you became a vampire? But the Elders said you were originally a blood slave." Burris said with a frown.
"This body may be, but I am not. Because of some accident, my soul came into this body." I explained to him with difficulty.
"It sounds a little unbelievable, but it's true, can you...understand it?" I looked at him expectantly.
Burris pressed his temples and looked at me and said, "It's true that ancient books have written about such things, but it's the first time I've seen it, if you're not lying."
"Of course not, you've seen it in books, that's great." I said in surprise.
"So, you want to go back to your body?" Burris asked, looking as if he had come to his senses.
"It would certainly be better if I could. But I may have died, or even lost memory, and I want to go back and find the truth." I said.
"Yes." Burris said with a heavy gaze, "The books say this happens to people who have already died once."
Ah, that really made me feel sad, but I fought the urge to smile at him and said, "It's okay, I just want to know the truth now, maybe there will be another way to find my body."
Burris dropped his gaze and stopped talking.
If he had been sober by now, he would have felt a little awkward and that's why he didn't say anything.
"Okay Burris, go to your room and pretend nothing happened." I said to him.
Burris looked up at me and his eyes had reverted to gold, "Chris, despite this, I can't let you go unless you kill me."
I rolled my eyes over him. Burris was horribly stubborn sometimes. But this was the kind of outcome I'd predicted.
I replied to him carelessly, "It's okay, I'll find a way to get out."
"Chris, what's your name?" Burris continued to ask without leaving.
"What?" I didn't get his point for a moment.
"I mean your original name." Burris explained.
"Oh, I'm Cheryl, you know? A top ten hunter in the Hunter's List for excellence."
I couldn t help but raise the corners of my mouth and ooze with smugness when I talked about it.
"Cheryl."
Burris repeated my name in slow tones.
Then he shook his head and said, "Nice name, but I've never heard of it, except for Tyrone. I never cared for other hunters."
I knew he didn't mean it, but it still sounded arrogant.
So I looked at him too and said, "I didn't know you before either, after all, there are many vampire families."
"The Howard family is the most powerful." Burris said with a smile.
Of course, Howard was his last name.
"The Campbells get on my nerves from time to time, too, and there are a lot of them." I gasped at him on purpose.
Burris frowned and looked angry indeed, as he said in disgust, "That is because their princes are addicted to lust and lack stewardship over their subjects, who have no commandments and bite people at will to breed their descendants, but are not responsible for teaching them."
"Yes, I hate the Campbells too." I nodded in agreement, "In that case, your family does seem more likeable than theirs."
Burris smiled at me.
"What about you Burris? Andrew said you never hurt humans, is that true?" I looked at him expectantly.
