Chapter 20
Cheryl's POV.
There was finally a rattle from the balcony and I immediately looked up to see Duster's strong body first.
"Duster, where's Cecil?" I asked, looking at him nervously.
Duster took two steps to the side, and I saw Cecil following him.
"Oh, Cecil! My dear brother." I covered my mouth in excitement, my eyes sore and rolling.
But Cecil's originally expectant gaze turned shocked the moment he saw me.
I saw his pupils crinkle and look at me incredulously.
"How is it you?" Cecil asked in a very soft voice.
"Yeah, it's me, I'm Cheryl," I said, looking up at him.
There was a loud noise from beside me, and it must have been Duster jumping off the balcony. I didn't bother to look at Duster, my eyes still fixed on Cecil's face.
We stared at each other for a long time before Cecil added, "I saw you at church and wounded you with a bow."
Cecil's expression looked pained, he must be beating himself up, the kind boy.
"It's okay, Cecil, I don't blame you." I looked at him and my voice started to choke, "Come down okay? If you'll take me."
Cecil grimaced and shook his head, "No. Why did you become a vampire? Why did you become a monster? You're not Cheryl!"
Cecil's words pierced my heart like a sword, and I looked at him sadly as tears kept rolling down from the corners of my eyes.
"Hey Cecil, you're going to break Cheryl's heart like that!" Duster lectured him angrily.
"If you're a coward, you shouldn't have followed me out here." Duster continued.
"That's enough Duster, it's not his fault, let's leave." I said sadly.
"No sis, it's my fault, just give me some time." Cecil suddenly called out to me excitedly, "It's my fault, because of me you're the way you are." He gripped his hair in pain.
I looked at him quizzically, wondering, "What do you mean?Cecil, why do you say that?"
Cecil, however, just shook his head in pain, didn't answer my question, and slowly crouched down.
I couldn't bear to press him further, it would be hard for him to accept me for who I was, after all, it was the vampires that had made him an orphan.
After a few minutes, Cecil finally got up from his feet, looked at me and asked, "Sister, Duster said you had something to ask me, what was it?"
"It's so nice of you to accept me." I looked at him happily.
Cecil nodded, "I'll protect you well this time."
"I believe you, Cecil, and you look mature." I said approvingly.
Cecil smiled sheepishly. I knew that we had finally made up.
Thinking about my purpose this time, I curtailed my smile, became serious, looked at Cecil, and asked, "I came to ask you how the hell I died?"
Cecil looked at me in surprise, "Sister, don't you remember?"
"Yes." I nodded, explaining, "I woke up as a vampire, but it wasn't my body. And Duster said you told him I was dead."
Cecil suddenly lowered his eyelashes and looked a little hesitant.
"Cecil, tell me, what's going on?" I couldn't help but ask.
"They said you turned into a vampire, so they killed you." Cecil said looking at me, his eyes indignant.
"What?" I looked at him in shock, unable to believe the words I was hearing.
Cecil said I turned into a vampire? That Cheryl turned into a vampire? Is that why I woke up again to become a vampire? But when did I become a vampire?
Countless questions swirled around my head, and I covered my head in pain, just unable to recall that memory before I woke up from the snow.
"Who are they? Weren't you there?" I heard Duster ask after me from the sidelines.
"It was Katelyn's men, and I wasn't at the church at the time, or I wouldn't have let them hurt Cheryl," Cecil said through clenched teeth.
"But I don't remember being bitten by a vampire." I frowned and said, "Could they have lied to you?"
"I don't know, that's what they all say, and if they're all lying, I'll kill them!" Cecil's gaze was fierce.
"Calm down." I reassured him, "I think we should go ask Katelyn's men."
"Well, you can go to Gordon, he's involved and he's the only one living in the apartment." Cecil suggested.
"Okay, I'll go with Duster then." I said.
"No, I want to be with you, I don't want to be apart from you anymore." Cecil said insistently.
I looked at him helplessly, "Okay, you come down first, I thought you were still scared of me."
"No more fear, I'm not afraid of vampires anymore and I'll never be afraid of Cheryl," Cecil said seriously.
After that, he was ready to jump down like Duster, and I tried to warn him that it might be a little high, but he was already jumping down.
Unfortunately, his palms ground blood on the ground and a familiar sweet smelling odor wafted into my nostrils, one that had a deadly allure that simply drove me crazy.
"Stop, Cecil, don't come near me!" I yelled at them. Fangs started to extend out of the sides of my mouth and all I could do was keep backing up.
"Cheryl ......"
"Sister!"
Duster and Cecil's voices sounded at the same time as they were still trying to get closer.
Damn, I had to do my best to restrain myself to suppress the desire to pounce on them. My consciousness fades, I can't see their expressions, I can only hear the sound of blood flowing through their veins.
Before the last bit of consciousness faded, I turned and quickly left the area, shouting over and over in my head, "Leave, leave, you can't hurt them, you mustn't hurt them."
I don't know how long I struggled, but I kept running forward and didn't stop until I hit a hard wall.
Oh no, it wasn't a wall, it was a person, and my eyes were so full of blood that all I could see was a blurry figure.
I couldn't take it anymore and lunged at him. Grabbing the man's delicate neck, I was about to bite on it, but then I was pulled and thrown from behind.
Then I heard the memory of a familiar voice with a huff, "Vicky! Why are you hurting Chris!"
Burris!
Then another familiar voice: "I can't watch her bite you, my esteemed Lord Prince."
That's Vicky's voice.
I can probably guess what just happened, I should have almost bitten Vicky's Lord Prince and Burris didn't even try to stop me?
Could he put up with me sucking his blood? That's ridiculous.
Soon I couldn't care less, my consciousness kept tearing me apart, my body seemed to be inhabited by a hungry demon that kept whispering in my ear, "Blood, blood, blood, I want to drink blood ......"
I lunged at them again, and I saw Burris open his arms to me, and then I crashed into his arms.
As I wrapped my arms around his neck once more, ready to open my mouth and bite, I was pulled by the arm again, but this time I wasn't thrown out.
"Then let the Prince Consort enjoy my blood." I heard Vicky say.
The snowy white neck was exposed to me, and without further hesitation, I took a bite.
My consciousness gradually returned, and my thirst for blood did not subside.
"Uh ...... Prince-sama, help me ......," I heard a faint cry for help in my ear.
"Enough, Chris, she's dying." Burris' nervous voice rang in my ears.
Why did Burris's voice become tense, when twice before he couldn't hear emotion, was this person important to him?
I thought confusedly, I just couldn't let go of my mouth.
"Bastards! What have you done to Cheryl!"
"Let go of my sister!"
Two more familiar voices sounded not far away, and my brain had a moment of clarity.
Cecil and Duster are here, and I can't let them see me sucking blood.
I was about to get up and leave when Burris suddenly squeezed my jaw and I had to let go of Vicky's neck.
Then I was pulled into Duster's arms while Cecil pulled out his bow to attack Burris. vicky was clearly on the verge of passing out, but couldn't find the strength anywhere to block an arrow for Burris.
Everything changes almost instantly as Vicky collapses wounded in Burris' arms and Burris looks at Cecil with bloodshot eyes.
I jumped at that look and immediately teleported to Cecil to block him, "Cecil didn't mean to do that, Burris, leave him alone will you?"
Cecil must not be able to beat this prince.
Burris, eyes scarlet with anger, looked at us and said to me in a deep voice, "Chris, you're being mean, Vicky just solved your hunger and you're letting this hunter hurt her."
I don't know why, but when Burris uses the word mean to describe me, my heart feels hard, like it's being squeezed tightly in the clutches of a demon.
"Cecil is my brother, he must not have meant to do it." I explained anxiously.
Adding, "If you want revenge for Vicky, come and hurt me, I won't let you hurt my brother."
"Hey Cheryl, you don't have to be afraid of him, you still have me." Duster stepped in front of me again.
"Sis, I'm not a coward anymore." Cecil stepped up from behind me as well.
The atmosphere was steeply tense and my insides were so anxious that I didn't actually want to fight Burris.
