Chapter 44.

I was taken by the elders to the dark room that was used for the trial, they still tied me to the silver cross, but it wasn't a trial because Elder Hadero wasn't here.
They stopped talking to me and only made a few cuts on my body that could not heal. They sprinkled something on the wounds and blood continued to drip from them.
I gradually lost my strength and my brain began to muddle.
The tantalizing smell of blood filled my surroundings, not just mine, but the humans' as well. It was a great temptation for me now.
I finally understood the elders' plan, they wanted to use this method to make me feel hungry and thirsty before releasing the humans in, by that time I would be so hungry and mad that the humans would be drained of my blood and all turned into a dry corpse.
Then, I would quickly level up in the process, just like the elders had hoped.
Gradually, my consciousness grew fuzzy. It was as if a beast had taken up residence inside me, trying to take control of my body and break through all restraints before clawing out and biting into the humans hiding in the darkness.
"How's it going Hampton, can you untie her now?"
Out of nowhere, I heard Mopso's voice.
"Wait a little longer, I think she's still conscious." Hampton said.
After that, there were more wounds on me and the smell of blood in the room grew stronger.
I was like a beast that was going crazy from them, I was becoming more and more violent inside, full of bloody violent thoughts.
Blood, I want blood, lots of it!
I want to suck their blood dry, and I want to tear their flesh and gnaw on their bones!
Who are they? I don't know, and it doesn't matter.
Those who appear in my sight will be torn apart by me with a vengeance!
I was so immersed in violent chaos that I didn't know how long it had been, when I suddenly felt all the bonds on my body disappear.
The darkness dissipated and light reappeared.
Through a scarlet curtain of blood, many shifting figures appeared before my eyes. I lunged towards them frantically, as if I heard the sound of chains scraping on the floor.
I wasn't completely free, I had only been lowered from the cross, and my arms and legs were still bound by chains.
But that didn't stop me from grabbing these men, who were clearly alive but as stiff as dead.
Their faces were lifeless, and they had no intention of escaping. They didn't struggle when I grabbed them, only their bodies were trembling violently and uncontrollably.
My brain was completely in the grip of violent emotions and I lost control of my body, despite my constant cries in my mind.
All I could do was watch myself bite into their necks, showing enjoyment like I was on drugs, ignoring the struggles the humans made out of instinct.
Soon the human in my hand was drained and thrown to the ground as I went in search of my next prey, I was completely transformed into a beast.
Corpses littered my feet, their deaths gruesome, their eyes staring in horror, their expressions more vivid in death than in life.
The whole world was blood red, and I couldn't help but close my eyes and shut out my cowardly, impotent consciousness.
Cecil's POV.
My sister is missing, I've been looking for her all day, but she seems to have completely disappeared.
Burris came to me before he left and told me to protect Cheryl and to be by her side at all times.
I thought Burris was picking on me and purposely waited in my room for a while before going to my sister, but when I went to her room, I couldn't find her.
I went to Burris's room again, but I still couldn't find my sister and I was starting to get a little anxious.
That's when a white cat suddenly sprang out of the corner.
--It was the pet cat Burris had given my sister.
The white cat kept barking at me, looking manic, and its nails scratched the floor with an ear-piercing sound.
"Milk, do you know where my sister went?" I squatted down in front of the white cat.
"Meow~" the white cat purred, then took a few steps toward the stairway with its tail cocked.
When I didn't follow, it retraced its steps to me and purred impatiently a few times.
I understood what the white cat meant, and after a moment's hesitation, I followed.
Maybe it knew where my sister was, or maybe it was just hungry.
Pinning my hopes on an animal was obviously not a wise thing to do. But there was nothing else I could do, I was unfamiliar with the terrain and the environment.
I followed the white cat out of the cottage and then towards a path.
Cheryl had told me that it was an estate and that I could come out for a walk during the day. But I had never been out before and had no idea where the white cat was taking me.
The white cat was going a little fast and I had to trot to keep up with it.
"Hey, friend, do you really know where Cheryl is?" I couldn't help but ask.
Hearing my voice, the white cat looked back at me with an expressionless face before running ahead at a faster pace.
I don't know why, but I always felt as if it was looking at me with contempt just now, and I had to speed up my pace as well.
A few minutes later, with the white cat's guidance, I actually reached the cottage where Vicki lived.
I was just hiding behind a thick tree trunk when the door to the cottage across the street was opened, and out from behind it came the vampire who had scratched me that day.
Cheryl said her name was Vicki.
"Did she capture Cheryl?" I stared intently at the woman.
The white cat doesn't speak, of course, but he stops running the rest of the way and stares at Vicki, who walks out of the cottage, too.
But I hadn't seen Cheryl yet, and I wasn't sure if Vicki had her, so I had to follow her first, holding the white cat in my arms.
It was slightly light and the light was blocked by the dense jungle, which was dark.
I followed Vicki cautiously through the jungle and the waterfall, finally reaching a secluded wilderness.
The only thing in the middle of the wilderness was a hemisphere-shaped structure, and Vicki did not appear to be the owner of the building, as she had used violent techniques to get the door open.
The solid, thick stone door was beaten to rubble by Vicki, who patted the stone crumbs that stained her clothes and walked slowly inside.
Thanks to her destroying the door, I was able to continue to follow her inside.
I finally saw Cheryl, but Cheryl's appearance took me by surprise. I didn't know what had happened to her, but she now looked like a demon from hell.
It was an empty space, except for Cheryl, who was bound in chains, there were only piles of bodies and blood.
Cheryl was covered in blood stains, not a clean spot.
There were no living people left here, and Cheryl sat staring at the floor with dull eyes like a battle-weary beast.
I will kill the bastard who turned Cheryl into this! I clenched my fists in anger.
Judging from the way Vicki had just opened the door, it shouldn't have been her who locked Cheryl in here, but she definitely didn't come here to get Cheryl out either.
Because I saw her extend her sharp claws and reach for Cheryl's heart.
Vicki's eyes were ruthless, and as she reached out, I immediately shot at her with my crossbow.
I aimed at her heart, but the arrow still wasn't as fast as the bullet. vicki probably sensed it and ducked to the side, the arrow piercing her shoulder, the wound quickly blotting out a dark mark.
"It's you!" Vicki covered her shoulder and glared at me fiercely.
"If you try to hurt my sister, I will kill you."
I glared back at her unabashedly, my bow still held tightly in my hand.
Vicki gave Cheryl a look and sneered, hooking her mouth as she said, "Cheryl seems to care about you, so I'll kill you first!"
Her words were followed by a darting lunge towards me.
Vicki's sharp claws came at my neck and I leaned back to avoid the blow. She took the opportunity to grab my feet and slam me against the wall.
She was terribly strong, not even like a woman.
I was thrown like a spinning frisbee and slammed hard against the wall, clutching the bow in my hand the whole time I was in the process.
I bounced off the wall and landed on the ground, not caring about the pain coming from my body and barely having time to react, I shot my arrow in Vicki's direction again on instinct alone.
Unfortunately, this time Vicki was defensive of me and the arrow only brushed past her face, bringing up a gust of wind.
Instead of hurting the creature, this attack pissed her off, and Vicki curtailed her careless grin as her eyes turned stern.
I was once again in Vicki's grip, and she didn't give me a chance to struggle, my throat was about to be snapped.
I shouldn't be able to escape this time, I'm only sorry I didn't get my sister out, I thought desperately.
Looking at Cheryl, whose expression was still numb, I let out one last cry with difficulty, "Sister ......"
