Chapter 16

The wolves should have seen the difference in rank between Vicky and I and left only one yellowish brown wolf to deal with me, the other two were off to deal with Vicky.
My mind was always upbeat, and it was times like this that I even wanted to taunt Vicky in her ear - see, this is special treatment for high ranking bloods.
But soon I can't see Vicky anymore, and this werewolf behind me is no good.
He advanced almost against my back, his ragged panting and blazing heat so oppressive that I didn't dare turn around or stop.
I knew that once I slowed down a bit, he would bite my head off.
In the moonlight, we leapt from the ground to the eaves of the house, ran wildly forward, and after a while jumped from the eaves back to the ground.
Such a game of chase pissed off the werewolf following me, and he let out a roar behind me, followed by a gust of hot wind blowing towards me.
He's closer to me.
The truth is, I didn't want to fight him, werewolves were and are my partners, and I have a werewolf friend that I interact with closely.
At first, I tried to shake the wolf off, but as things stood, a nasty fight between us was probably inevitable.
There was a wall in front of me, and I was ready to jump from the ground to the eaves again, when suddenly I was bitten by a wolf on the arm and thrown hard against the wall.
This physical attack can't hurt the vampire, it just hinders my movement.
By the time I got to my feet, the werewolf was in front of me.
He was large, with scarlet eyes, and stood in front of me looking down at me proudly, while showing a row of fangs at me.
I couldn't care less about the bite out of my arm and stared at him nervously, "Hey man, I'm just passing through here, don't get so mad, okay?"
He snarled at me, his fishy breath puffing in my face.
"That's not very hygienic, you should stick to rinsing your mouth." I fanned the air in front of me with my hand in disgust.
After I expressed my displeasure, the wolf stopped hesitating and opened its mouth towards me.
Behind me was a wall and I quickly ran towards him as he opened his mouth and his mouth hit the wall.
Werewolves are naturally brutal and feral, and it's hard to control emotions when in werewolf form; he cracks the wall in anger and turns to run at me menacingly.
It was a dead end and I had to run backwards to try and get back to where I was before I found a fork in the road and ran away.
But when I returned to the initial spot again, the two wolves that had gone after Vicky were standing guard, with another wolf next to them, and Vicky was gone.
The road is blocked from front to back.
Behind me was an unhinged wolf as I continued running towards the front, at least the three wolves seemed calm and one looked a little familiar.
I ran up to the three wolves, and the new silver-grey wolf in front of me bared its teeth in a threatening gesture.
Then he lifted his sharp wolf claws, bigger than my head, and came at me.
"Duster! It's Cheryl!" i yelled at him.
It wasn't until I got closer that I was sure that it was indeed the werewolf I knew.
--Duster, my good friend.
The silvery gray wolf looked frozen for a moment. The wolf's paws froze in mid-air as he retracted his fangs and looked at me quizzically. I took the opportunity to slide into the gap formed by his belly and the ground.
Without slowing down, the yellowish-brown wolf behind him slammed straight into the silvery-gray one. The latter used his raised wolf paws to fling him aside, following up with a snarl at him.
The yellow-brown wolf smashed against the wall and rolled off, her emotions finally calming down. But her eyes were still dangerous, staring straight at me.
So did the other two wolves.
I stepped out from under Duster's stomach and looked up at the silvery grey wolf in front of me and once again cried out in surprise, "Duster, it's me, it's Cheryl."
They exchanged a look with each other and a threatening grunt escaped their throats. They slowly approached my side, leaning down in an attacking position.
It occurred to me that I wasn't the same person anymore, that I was just a strange vampire in Duster's eyes.
"Duster, remember this?" I made a skillful gesture towards Duster.
That's a gesture only we know.
Duster and I met a long time ago, when I saved him at the hands of a vampire when he wasn't the leader of the wolves.
After that, we worked together a lot, sometimes competing to see who killed the most vampires. And the gesture was our way of acknowledging each other's abilities.
After I made that gesture, the silver-grey wolf turned into a human form. That familiar face was indeed Duster.
At this point, he was looking at me in utter shock.
As the leader of the wolf clan, Duster has a strong body and can tear apart vampires with his bare hands while still in human form.
His features were hard and deep, his upper body half-naked, his spurting muscles seemingly harder than before, harboring terrifying strength without losing the beauty of his form.
Duster's eyebrows huddled together in total disbelief, questioning, "No, how can you be Cheryl? You're nothing like her."
"I'm in some trouble, but I'm really Cheryl, we used to hunt vampires together, remember?" I anxiously tried to prove my identity to him.
"The first time we met, you almost got eaten by those monsters, and after I saved you, you were so scared you couldn't stop holding my hand." I had to reveal embarrassing stories from his past.
Seeing that he was still shocked, I continued, "You also said that you wanted me to be your moon god, but I already had someone I liked so I turned you down, but you still pursued me, which made me avoid you."
I don't think anyone would say embarrassing things about each other while begging for mercy, which only proves that what I'm saying is true.
"You didn't give up on me until my accident, oh yes, and you gave me many animal skins, each with poetry written on them, you said it was your heart, and though I couldn't quite understand it, I tucked them all into my pillow ......"
"Oh God, I thought you were dead, that's what Cecil told me."
Duster had tears in his eyes.
"Thank God you're alive." He choked out.
I smiled sincerely and went up to him and hugged him, "I'll explain to you later, I have to rush back to Peterman now and find some truth."
Peterman is the town where we have lived for a long time and where St. Bi's church is located.
"Guys, Cheryl is my friend, change back all of you." Duster said to the other three wolves.
Hearing his command, both the brown and yellow-brown wolves turned into men.
The brown werewolf stepped forward and hooked Duster's shoulder, teasing, "Duster, is this the moon god of your dreams you were talking about? I can't believe it's a vampire, you have a special eye."
"Would you be the first werewolf leader in history to bond with a vampire? That would be so cool!" The yellow-brown werewolf chuckled back, in a tone more like mockery.
Looks like he's still holding a grudge against me for letting him hit the wall earlier.
And the black wolf hadn't changed yet; he was staring at me with wary eyes.
"Hey, Gene, Rory, you two cut me some slack." Duster reprimanded, pretending to be angry.
Then he gave me a look, his eyes full of love, "Cheryl is supposed to be in trouble and I'm going to help her."
Duster then looked to the black wolf and hesitated, his face turning serious.
"Collier, you can't hurt her. Or I don't mind fighting you."
The black wolf jumped up on the eaves, craned its neck and hissed at the moon. With a final mischievous look at us, it disappeared over the eaves.
"Damn, Collier the bastard!" Duster clenched his fists in anger.
He turned his head to me and said to me in an anxious tone, "Cheryl, I have to get you out of here right now."
"What's happening?" I looked at him a little blankly.
Rory, the yellow-brown werewolf, explained, "Collier is a Delta werewolf who has long wanted to take Duster's place and collude with the vampires, which is a good reason to do so."
"Yes, Collier will tell them Duster is in love with a vampire and all the werewolves will be hunting you." Gene added calmly.
"What?" I felt a little incredulous.
"I wasn't a vampire before, and I have no intention of staying with Duster."
Rory raised an eyebrow and gave Duster a pitying look, "Collier doesn't think that much about it, catching Duster in the act is enough to get him excited."
"What about you guys? Will you guys help Duster?" I asked, looking at them.
Rory and Gene looked at each other with immodest grins on their faces.
"Don't worry Cheryl, they're scaring you on purpose, I'll get you out of here first."
Duster hammers them on the shoulder, "Please, guys."
"I hope you still have the blessing of the Moon Goddess."
With that said, they took the form of wolves, turned and jumped up on the eaves of the house and headed in Collier's direction in pursuit.
"Come on up, Cheryl, and we'll talk about it when we get to a safe place."
Duster also took the form of a wolf and leaned down in front of me.
I moved to roll onto his back in a sharp motion.
