Chapter 15

"Yes, because I have the power of my heritage to control the desire to draw blood, and the energy of the moon is more useful than human blood." Burris said.
Then he wondered, "You've only been with Andrew for a few days, how come he tells you everything? He's not this perky around me."
Speaking of Andrew, melancholy vibes linger around us.
I was a little sad and said, "Because he respects you, Andrew says a lot of good things about you. If it weren't for me, he would have been following you around and being your best assistant."
Burris, sad-eyed, came over and hugged me.
Calming down, I pushed Burris away and said to him, "Okay, you should go to your room."
"Good night, Cheryl."
With that, he leaned over and dropped a kiss on my forehead and left.
"Good night." I said as I watched his back.
Two more days passed and a Marquis in the Burris family broke the commandments and the elders had to go to his trial. Before they left they instructed Burris, in my presence, to raise my rank as much as possible.
The elders suggested that I advance by feeding on blood slaves, that would require a lot of them and my consciousness might get out of control.
But these three selfish old men don't care about my feelings, they just want their Prince to gain power as soon as possible.
Fortunately, Burris doesn't really approve of that approach either, preferring that I rely on my own abilities to get stronger, like killing Phillips and going on to kill more Earls.
"Why can't I rely on absorbing the moon's energy to become stronger?" I asked Burris.
"Because there is only one moon. Only those with great power can absorb the moon's energy, and it progresses slowly." Burris explained to me.
"Is that so? So you want to suck me dry right away?" I joked.
"Not ......," Burris said with some difficulty in his eyes.
He's always been like that lately, looking at me with a torn and struggling look in his eyes.
"Then wait a little longer, the Count isn't that easy to kill, and I might lose my life." I said faintly.
"Good." Burris said.
Vicky came to me often, hoping I would leave soon, looking more anxious than I was.
But Burris has been watching me so closely lately that I haven't had a chance to leave. He sometimes takes me to try some of the amusements that the nobility use for their amusement.
Like painting, playing polo, archery ......
It's just that all these activities can only take place in the cottage, and I'm just like a sparrow trapped in a cage by a crow.
After two weeks of this, the elders never returned. Instead, a bloodied Viscount collapsed at the entrance to the manor and was sent to Burris by the doorman.
That's when Burris was teaching me to bartend, and I found out he could do quite a few skills.
"Prince Burris, the situation is urgent. Please forgive me for having to come to you covered in filth." The Viscount who had been sent here was covered in blood, but still did not forget to salute Burris.
"Give him a seat." Burris ordered the servant.
The servant brought a chair and helped him up to sit in it.
"Thank you, Prince Burris." The Viscount said to Burris.
"Ellen, what happened? Who hurt you?" Burris asked, frowning.
The Viscount known as Ellen had a serious expression and said in exasperation, "There are two hunters, and from the Campbell family, who have joined forces with the Marquis of Enoch to take the three elders into custody. They released me to come back and tell you to go and rescue the Elders yourself."
The Marquis of Enoch is the same Marquis the Elders are going to try, and if so, Enoch is deliberately breaking the family commandments to lure the Elders into a trap.
He betrayed the Howard family and even colluded with the Outsiders. I just didn't think the Hunters were involved in this, and were in league with the Campbells.
Burris grimaced, clearly disgusted by the betrayal. the Campbell family must have designed a trap waiting for him, but he decided to go and save the three old guys anyway.
Burris's POV.
The next day, I was leaving the manor. Before I left, I couldn't resist checking on Cheryl.
"Cheryl, as you heard yesterday, I had to leave for a while. I will have Vicky watch you, she can control the desire to draw blood. But if you dare to run away she will punish you." I said looking at Cheryl.
I'll call her Cheryl when no one else is around, as she seems to prefer it.
Sure enough, Cheryl smiled at me, her voice gentle, "Don't worry, I'll be waiting for you when you get back, be safe."
Cheryl was caring for me, and the knowledge made me feel happy and I couldn't help but raise the corners of my mouth.
"Hmm." I nodded, but didn't leave.
Even though Cheryl has shown no signs of escaping lately, I'm a little worried.
"What's wrong?" Cheryl asked me.
It was obviously rude to keep staring at someone like that, but I couldn't take my eyes off her, I wanted to see more of her.
For some reason, Cheryl frowned. My eyes moved from her brow to her eyes to her delicate nose ...... and finally my eyes settled on her red lips.
Cheryl doesn't like to wear makeup, but her lips are on the reddish side and she looks great without it.
Hell, I feel like I'm in a really weird place right now.
Every time I looked at Cheryl, she seemed to take on a holy aura.
"Can I kiss you, Cheryl," I asked Cheryl, my tone genuine.
Cheryl froze for a moment and didn't reply to me immediately.
I pursed my lips, feeling a sudden pang of tension.
When I thought she would reject me again, she nodded and said, "Yes."
When she finished, she raised her head slightly and closed her eyes.
Looking at her cute face, I couldn't help but raise the corners of my lips and lean down to place a tender kiss on Cheryl's lips.
"Wait for me to come back, Cheryl," I said in Cheryl's ear.
I left Cheryl's room before she opened her eyes.
Cheryl's POV.
Burris went away. In the evening, Vicky came to take me away, as promised.
Before leaving, for my own safety, I told Vicky, "I left a letter for Burris, and unless you deliver me safely to St. Bi's Church, Burris will know that you let me go."
"Of course, I'll tell you who and where that letter is when you drop me off at the church." I added.
"You're so mean, Chris!" said Vicky, glaring at me fiercely.
"I just want to make sure you don't backtrack." I said with a smile.
"What if Burris comes back before we do?" Vicky asked uneasily.
"When you drop me off at the church, I will tell you where the letter is. The letter will not be seen by anyone until you return to the villa." I explained.
"Okay, I'll trust you for now, get out of here." Vicky said helplessly.
I could read that she was cursing me like crazy inside right now.
Vicky's teleportation was fast, and she got ahead of me, killing all the guards in the villa and opening up a bloody path for me.
I followed Vicky and we quickly made our way out of the estate and all the way to the bottom of the hill.
This time no one came back to stop me, but the road down the hill was not peaceful.
At the bottom of the hill was a desolate ring road, weeds even grew in the crevices along the road, and I was unfamiliar with all of the surroundings.
As we were about to leave along the road, we were surrounded by a swarm of bats.
"Damn, Burris put a restraining spell on you." Vicky cursed with a wrinkled brow.
I froze, thinking of the kiss Burris had given me before he left.
I furrowed my brow in anger at Burris' approach. If I wasn't with Vicky, I would be dealing with these fanged bats all by myself.
When we finally finished with the bats, both Vicky and I were covered in bruises, hers healing quickly while mine was still bleeding.
"Even after becoming an Earl you're still weak." Vicky coldly sarcastic me.
"It's okay, hurry up and go, I know you don't want to stay with me, and neither do I." I said lightly, taking the lead off the highway that was covered in bat corpses.
After walking some more time, we reached the town of Issa. It falls on the border between the Blood and Human areas and is inhabited by many species. There were humans and bloods, and even werewolves.
Vampires don't need to rest, and I didn't want to cause trouble. Therefore, I had no intention of stopping, but we had to pass through it.
As we were about to leave the area, three half-naked werewolves surrounded us. All I had to do was smell them to know who they were.
If hunters kill vampires for money and to protect humans, then werewolves kill vampires out of instinct. It's a curse from ancient times.
The three werewolves made an attacking gesture at me, their eyes fierce. Then the pure black wolf-furred werewolf issued an order to the other two, "Kill them!"
They raced towards us, completing their transformation as they leapt into mid-air.
