Chapter 61

"Cheryl, is this what you call a fair duel?"
Tyrone mockingly curled the corner of his mouth halfway up, his hand still covering his injured neck.
"You were the one who broke the rules first, and you tried to bite me earlier didn't you? I just made the first move, that's what you taught me." I said coldly, looking straight at him.
"Hm, very well. Why didn't you bite me to death? Can't give up on me? You still love me don't you Cheryl," Tyrone eyed me playfully.
"I should really rip your head off and see what kind of crap is in there." I said in a cold voice.
Then, not waiting for him to say any more crap, I attacked him again.
The rules had been broken and we began to use our vampire powers against each other.
Tyrone tried to use his creator status to control me, but Dennis, who was hidden in the shadows, pinned him down and he couldn't use that ability.
We were both dukes, with similar strength and speed. The difference was that Tyrone was injured and I could track his movements based on the scent of his blood.
We went from fighting each other to me attacking and chasing him one-sidedly.Tyrone was getting more and more wounded and slowing down as he followed.
Dennis' hall was a mess, filled with the heavy smell of blood. The duel between the vampires was much more gruesome than the human ones, and Tyrone had half of his ear ripped off.
But that wasn't enough, when Cecil's arm was broken, Tyrone was going to pay double.
There was disbelief in Tyrone's eyes, and an increasingly obvious fear. Once again, it brought out the same excitement in me as it had when I'd fought Collier.
I thought I might actually have a demon living inside of me, a demon that loved violence and blood, and I seemed to be getting along with it.
I chased after Tyrone again, who was hanging from the parapet of the second floor like a fleeing gecko.
As I was about to close in on him, he suddenly yelled at me, "That's enough, I concede, Cheryl. i've lost, leave me alone."
My sharp claws rested just on the side of his face and I looked at him with a sneer in my eyes and said in a harsh voice, "Really? Wait to die if you don't want to run away, Tyrone!"
The next moment, without hesitation, I extended my sharp claws and clamped one on his temple.
"Bang!" There was a muffled sound.
Almost simultaneously with my movement, Tyrone somehow fished out the shotgun that caught my eye and fired it at my abdomen.
The bullet sunk into my flesh and I instantly fell to the marble floor. A sharp pain came from my abdomen and a large blood blotted out from the wound.
Both the bullet and the pistol were Tyrone's special, and even Burris had nearly died from it.
I was convulsing with pain and looked as if I was dying too.
Tyrone jumped to my side and crouched down, a devious grin on his face.
He picked the tip of my jaw with the barrel of his gun and said triumphantly, "Cheryl, you're so careless, you must be regretting not biting me to death just now."
The muzzle of the gun slid slowly along my chin to my chest, aiming for the spot where my heart would be.
"Cheryl, what am I supposed to do with you? You're too dangerous for me to live, but I can't let you die." Tyrone dropped his eyelids, seemingly hesitating.
"Then you'll die!" I said in a harsh voice.
The next second, to Tyrone's shocked eyes, my sharp claws pierced his heart.
He never had a chance to pull the trigger on me again.
Incredulity was written in Tyrone's terrified eyes, as if he hadn't expected me to have the strength to launch an attack on him after being shot.
And not only did I regain the strength to attack him, the wound was healing at an incredible rate, and soon I couldn't even feel a hint of pain anymore.
Perhaps this was because I had just sucked Tyrone's blood, which was what had nourished the mysterious power within me and made it even stronger.
Tyrone was clearly a Duke, but after I pulled out his heart, his body instantly turned into ashes, including the heart in my hand.
My gaze was slightly dazed for a moment as I finally killed Tyrone.
It might not have been a fair duel, but I had avenged Cecil thanks to that power.
A terrible thought even occurred to me in that moment, that perhaps I could rely on sucking blood to make this power stronger and stronger, and then rely on that power to control the world.
But soon reason squashed that thought. My goal was never to conquer the world, I just want to be with the people I love, and having the ability to guard them is enough.
Suddenly, there were several loud applause from overhead and the light around me brightened up for a moment.
Dennis was walking slowly down the stairs, his face flushed from overexcitement.
I looked at him indifferently, my breathing still ragged.
"You are simply amazing, my dear fiancée, is it because of the power in your blood?" Dennis's eyes seemed to be glowing with light, they were filled with longing.
It was a desire for my power.
"You mean the power of hate? If you want a taste of it too, go ahead and stare at me like that." I stared at him with baleful eyes, a sneer curling the corners of my mouth.
Maybe I could rely on that power to defeat Dennis, too?
The thought had just occurred to me, before I could consider the feasibility of it, when my afterimage suddenly caught a glimpse of a dark shadow falling overhead.
I had just raised my head when I saw an iron cage over my head. However, the moment I made that move, it had already trapped me.
This took less than three seconds before and after, and the iron cage even collided violently with the ground as it fell at extreme speed, making an ear-splitting sound that I didn't have time to react.
Damn it! This was all because Dennis could read my thoughts, and the thoughts I had just had must have made him feel threatened.
"Sorry Cheryl. you're a dangerous guy right now, I'll just have to trap you like this for now."
Dennis sounded apologetic, but his face still had that glib look on it, as if he had everything under control.
"Damn it, I'll rip your mouth off when I get out of here!" I snarled at him.
I reached up and grabbed the bars of the cage, trying to break them off.
But no sooner had I placed my hand on them than a powerful current ran through my body. The current instantly paralyzed my nerves, and my body jerked uncontrollably.
It took a great deal of willpower to release my hand from the bars, and I sat backwards in the middle of the cage, panting violently.
There was still residual electricity in my body, making my body twitch gently.
Dennis lets out an exaggerated burst of laughter from the sidelines, as if he's watching a funny show.
Maybe I looked like a trapped animal in an acrobatic troupe to him now.
Under my stoic stare, Dennis finally curbed his smile and said to me with a slight lift of his chin, "Cheryl, stay in here for now, and I'll let you out on the day of the wedding."
Despite how wretched I must look now, I gave him a stern look.
Even if I really was a beast, no acrobat could tame me.
Dennis grimaced and gave the butler a look.
I don't know where the butler flicked a switch, but an iron ring appeared above my head and reached down to encircle my waist.
I couldn't help but close my eyes, but there was no imaginary electric shock as the iron ring gradually tightened around my waist and hoisted me up.
Then the iron cage and I were both suspended in mid-air and Dennis was out of the way.
I breathed a sigh of relief and looked around at the pitch black surroundings in deep thought.
Would I be able to escape this time, and what happened to Burris?
