Chapter 65.

Dennis unexpectedly came up.
Before the old man and I could react in any way, the door had been violently pushed open by Dennis.
Dennis looked at us, surprised for a moment, and then sneered, "Ha, what a surprise! I thought it was Burris, but I didn't expect it to be a human, or such an old man."
"It seems my bride is indeed popular, even old guys like this are bewitched." Dennis said mockingly.
The old man stepped in front of me and bowed his body at Dennis, making a state to attack him.
As the door was opened, the chaotic sounds of the engagement outside reached my ears. I knew the fight could no longer be avoided, but I could never hide behind an old man.
"Grandpa, I hope you can tell me honestly, Burris, is he okay?" I asked as I glanced at the old man's hunched back.
My eyes crossed over the old man's thin shoulders and I stared sharply at Dennis.
"He ...... he's fine." The old man said sharply, and after a pause, he added, "You'll be able to see him when I get you out."
My strength fully restored, I let out a laugh and pulled him behind me, "Thank you, but I can't let the old man fight for me, it's enough that you protect yourself."
After saying that, I raised my sharp claws and charged towards Dennis, who was obviously ready for the fight and easily dodged my blow.
During the fight and chase with Dennis, I saw the old man fetch a gun from behind him, surprisingly it was my shotgun.
I could tell that the old man wanted to help, but Dennis and I were too fast. He looked a little chagrined as he held the gun but didn't get a chance to shoot.
I don't know why, but it would hurt me a little to see him like that.
Because of sucking Tyrone's blood, my strength has increased and is now about the same as Dennis' strength.
For a short time, neither of us had a chance to hurt the other.
But as he extends his sharp claws to attack me again, I suddenly stop parrying and let his claws sink into my arm. That way I could touch him.
"Cheryl!" the old man hissed.
Dennis apparently froze as well, and I hooked the corners of my mouth and choked Dennis around the neck with lightning speed.
To their amazement, I used the mystical power within me to float into mid-air and pin Dennis to the wall with force.
Dennis was still struggling violently, his sharp claws almost sinking into my bones. I endured the pain, neither attacking further nor letting up an ounce of my strength, just pinning him to the wall with force.
"Do it, finish him with your gun!" I ordered to the old man.
The old man instantly reacted from his surprise, raised his pistol to Dennis' heart, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.
"Bang!"
After an ear-shattering gunshot, Dennis' head hung helplessly to the side, and the clawed hand that had sunk into my arm let go.
With a sigh of relief, I dropped Dennis on the ground and walked towards the old man, unable to stop myself from smiling, "You're really the best-eyed old man I've ever seen, may I know your name?"
The old man pursed his lips and smiled, his eyes stopped dodging and looked at me and said, "Actually, I'm ......"
Before he could finish his sentence, his eyes suddenly became frightened and then he quickly ran towards me.
I realized with a jolt that Dennis might not be dead yet and immediately turned around to try to resist. But Dennis brushed past me, and his sharp claws stabbed into the old man's heart with unerring accuracy.
His target was supposed to be the old man!
"Oh no, Burris!" cries Amanda's grief-stricken voice appeared in the doorway.
For a moment I was confused, where was Burris?
"It's you, isn't it Burris, even if I have to die, I'm going to drag you with me!" Dennis said with a twisted expression as he looked at the old man.
I was completely frozen in place, looking at them incredulously, forgetting to even try to save the old man.
"Yuck!" The old man fought the urge to spit bloodied spit in his face.
"Ah, Burris, you insolent bastard, I'm going to kill you!" Dennis roared furiously, his arm impacting forward with such force that his sharp claws pierced the old man's heart.
"No, Burris!" my eyes almost cracked open as I jolted awake in general, and my heart seemed to feel the pain of being pierced.
I was in front of them almost in an instant, trying to shake off Dennis. but he seemed to be clutching Burris' heart with all his strength.
"My dear bride, Burris is dead, hahaha ......" Dennis laughed maniacally.
I jerked my head over and the pale head was indeed hanging down, looking without a trace of life.
"No!" I let out a hiss of grief and bit down hard on Dennis' neck.
It only took a few seconds for me to drain Dennis of his blood. After he turned into a pile of fishy ashes, he finally let go of Burris' body.
I immediately stepped forward to catch Burris, who was completely out of breath and collapsed sheepishly in my arms.
"Oh Cheryl, I'm still late, I'm sorry ......" Amanda said as she crouched down beside me.
Not a moment later, it was completely quiet outside and Duster came in. But I didn't have the energy to pay them any mind, all I had in my eyes was Burris.
Even though he'd become strange and old, I didn't care, I just wanted him to live.
I should have recognized him long ago, and he must have been heartbroken when I asked him who he was.
Probably even thought I was disliking him... God, I was awful.
Will someone please save my Burris?
"Cheryl, don't do this ......" Duster tried to come and separate me from Burris and I immediately pushed him away in horror.
But I didn't expect Duster to get pushed away from me and hit the wall.
"Oh Cheryl, how could you do that to Mr. Werewolf? He was just out there fighting for you." Amanda scolded me, immediately running to Duster's side and using magic to heal his wounds.
"I'm fine, Cheryl just can't control her powers for now." Duster sat up from the ground.
I felt incredible too, tears blurred my eyes as I looked at their figures and cried explaining, "I'm sorry Duster, I didn't mean to. amanda can you use your magic to save Burris?"
"I ......" Amanda's reproachful eyes turned to guilt.
She dropped her head and whispered, "I'm sorry Cheryl, I couldn't save him, Burris is dead."
Listening to Amanda's words, I felt myself gradually drowning in despair.
At that moment, Duster suddenly said to Amanda, "Wait, Amanda, would there be a way out of that Book of the Dead?"
"Oh yes, Mr. Werewolf you are so clever, I almost forgot about that spell." Amanda said in surprise, pulling a very thick book out of her pocket.
I tensed up instantly, as if I was staring at a small rekindled fire. I stared at Amanda so closely I didn't even dare blink.
After some searching, Amanda finally opened her eyes and looked a little serious.
"How's it going, Amanda?" i swallowed a mouthful of saliva, my throat dry with nerves.
