Chapter 63
"Okay, Burris, I can understand how you're feeling right now." Amanda grabbed my shoulders and soothed beside me, "But we have to get Cheryl out first, she went to Dennis to save you, we have to be brave like her."
Amanda was right, I had to pull myself together. No matter what I was now, Cheryl was the love of my life and I had to get her out.
"I know, thank you, Amanda ...... and Duster."
I gave Duster a determined look and continued, "Thank you for all you have done for me, and now I need you to continue to assist me in getting Cheryl out. Even if I am now human, I will fight with you all to the end."
"Of course, but that's because Cheryl is my friend, not because of you." Duster corrected in a cold voice.
I raised an eyebrow and nodded in response, "Of course, Cheryl's friends are my friends too, and by getting Cheryl out of there, I promise the Howard family can make peace with the werewolves."
"You promise? You're not a Prince anymore." Duster sneered at me, his eyes looking a little gloating.
I knew he meant no harm though, otherwise he wouldn't have come to my rescue with Amanda, Duster was just feeling a little resentful because of Cheryl's love for me.
"It's not a problem, I'll get back to where I belong." I said.
Yes, I would definitely be back where I belonged again, but I was hoping that Cheryl could be my creator when I transformed into a vampire.
"Burris, do you have any plans now?"
"Cheryl is getting married to Dennis tomorrow, their invitations have been distributed to the towns and I'm afraid there will be quite a few people there, and Dennis has an army of vampires." Amanda looked sad.
"We can go back to Howard first and gather our men, Father actually left me a secret army." I said to Amanda.
"But ...... can you still rally them now? And Hampton is running the Howard clan now, your clan shouldn't listen to you." Amanda said with a frown.
"True, I can't rally that legion in my current capacity, it would take a bloodline with my father's blood to rally them, but we still have Diana don't we?" I looked to Amanda.
"Yeah, Diana's bloodline can summon the legion and I can definitely awaken Diana now that I have the Book of the Dead," Amanda said excitedly.
"As for those three old guys, they will get what they deserve." I said in a morose tone.
My expression must have been grim now as I thought of Hampton's betrayal, Mopso's deception, and Hadero's sneak attack.
If it wasn't for trusting them, I wouldn't have lost to Dennis. they didn't deserve to be Howard's elders at all, and I should have executed them long ago!
After some discussion, I decided to sneak into Howard Manor with Amanda to wake Diana, while Duster offered that he could go back to his tribe and call up some wolves to help.
Once we had agreed, we started to split up, Amanda's eyes fixed on the direction Duster had left, looking a little dismayed, until Duster's figure disappeared completely down the sandy slope and she withdrew her gaze.
Amanda pulled a magic carpet out of her pocket and placed it on the sand and turned to me, "Come on up here Burris, it'll be a little faster."
I sat up and looked at Amanda, asking in a relaxed tone, "Amanda, you like Duster, don't you?"
Amanda immediately stared at me with wide eyes, two red clouds rising in her cheeks, and exclaimed, "Oh Burris, how did you see that? You don't want to tell anyone."
"It seems to be true, so maybe you could be brave and try to take the initiative to woo him. I think he'll like our lovely Amanda." I suggested to Amanda.
Amanda got on the magic carpet as well and used her magic to steer it into flight.
"But Mr. Werewolf likes Cheryl, I shouldn't have a chance." Amanda whispered.
Her eyelids drooped and she looked a little lost. I don't know if that was the reason, but the magic carpet flew a little bumpy. I had to grab Amanda's shoulders to keep from being thrown off.
"No, no, Amanda, it's because Duster likes Cheryl that you have a chance. Because Cheryl likes me, I'm not going to give Cheryl up to anyone, and there's no way he's going to keep from finding a mate for Cheryl."
"Really? But he seems so dedicated." Amanda was still a little timid.
"Of course it's true. Be brave, girl, it'll save me a little trouble. And I can tell that your Mr. Werewolf is impressed with you." I motivated to Amanda.
"Is that so? I didn't even notice." Amanda daintily buried her head in her chest as the magic carpet suddenly sped up.
"Oh, love always makes you blind ......" I looked ahead at the collapsing wreckage and my voice couldn't help but rise much higher, "But I hope you can keep your eyes open for now, because we're about to hit a wall! Amanda!"
Hooray, Amanda finally lifted her head just moments before the magic carpet hit the dirt wall.
"Oh, God!" Amanda exclaimed, pulling the magic carpet upwards in an extreme rush.
Due to gravity, I had to hold on to the edges of the magic carpet to keep from falling, like I was being dangled by it.
I'm pretty sure I've never been in such a mess in all my life.
I didn't dare talk to Amanda about her feelings again for the rest of the day, and we finally arrived safely at the Howard family.
Amanda had used her magic to make us all invisible, and Hampton and the others didn't seem to be at the manor, so we entered the chamber without incident.
It was the only place I could open, and Diana was still lying quietly in her ice coffin like a sleeping princess.
"Oh my God, Burris your sister is so beautiful!" Amanda exclaimed, this was the first time she had seen Diana.
"Of course, she inherited good genes from her father and mother, wake her up!" I said with some urgency.
"Okay, hold on, let me see the magic in the book." Amanda took the book of the undead out of her pocket.
This was the first time I had seen the book in action. It was a thick, dictionary-like book with a delicate black spine, though there wasn't a single word on the cover.
Amanda placed the book on the floor and sat cross-legged in front of it, then closed her eyes and whispered a mantra.
Then, as if the wind had tossed the book cover, the title page opened and began to slowly flip backwards.
Amanda's hair flew up in front of her forehead, and her hood was blowing up.
I stared at Amanda expectantly and nervously, only relieved when the ball of light disappeared and the book stopped flipping.
"Did you find it, Amanda?" i asked impatiently, stepping forward.
Amanda slowly opened her eyes, her brow furrowed and her face didn't look too good.
"What's wrong? Didn't find a way to wake Diana up?" I couldn't help but tense up again.
"No, I found a way, but ......" Amanda looked at me and hesitated for a moment before continuing with a frown, "The magic is also an exchange magic that requires the loved ones of the awakened person to give fifty years of their lives in in exchange for ......"
I understood what Amanda meant, Diana's only relative was me.
If I was still a Blood, fifty years of life would be perfectly fine for me, but now I'm just a human. That meant that I would be going to meet my beloved Cheryl as an aged old man.
"Is there no other way?" I asked.
There was still a glimmer of hope in my mind that maybe Amanda was trying to scare me.
But, apparently Amanda wouldn't joke with me at a time like this.
"Yes, there is, and there is a magic that can wake Diana up, the same way that woke you up. But if that happens, Diana won't be able to gather the Legion." Amanda said sadly.
"Maybe we can do it without the Legion." She suggested.
"No, that would be too dangerous." I shook my head no.
The temperature in the ice chamber seemed colder, or maybe because I wasn't resistant to freezing now that I was human, I was so cold my teeth were fighting.
"It's okay, use my lifespan. I can transform into a Blood again once we save Cheryl." I said to Amanda, my voice seeming to shiver.
"Oh, look at you cold, put this blanket on." Amanda draped the magic blanket over me.
"Damn it, this fucking body!" I couldn't help but curse, wrapping the blanket tighter around me and saying to Amanda, "Get started Amanda, wake Diana up before I freeze to death."
Amanda gives me a sympathetic look and finally starts waving her magic wand and whispering the spell.
Two beams of green light emanated from the tip of the magic wand, one entering Diana's forehead and one hitting my forehead.
I could feel the cells in my body metabolizing and aging rapidly, and slowly, I saw the tight skin on the back of my hands gradually become saggy and rough, and then my vision started to blur ......
