Chapter 53

I woke up in a completely unfamiliar room, and the first thing I saw was the brown wooden roof overhead, and I started to drift off.
However, as my consciousness drifted back, the sadness spreading through my heart swept over me once more. I rolled on my bed in heartache, my mouth blurring out Cecil's name.
After a moment, the wooden door was opened and Duster walked in.
"It's okay, it's okay Cheryl," Duster reassured me as he hugged me tightly.
I pounded on Duster's shoulder hard, losing my mind in general. I unreasonably held the charge over Duster's head and hissed at him, "It's all you, Cecil is dead because of you."
Duster let me scold him and just wouldn't let go of me as he said in a hushed tone, "It's my fault, Cheryl, it's all my fault."
I finally stopped struggling out of exhaustion after Duster got a few bloody marks on his shoulder from my grip.
I froze against Duster's shoulder as tears continued to slide down the corners of my eyes and fall onto Duster's shoulder.
"I'm sorry, Duster, I'm just so sad."
My sanity finally returned to my brain and I realized what a stupid thing I had just done, I hugged Duster and cried out in pain.
"It's okay, my poor Cheryl, as long as this makes you feel better." Duster kissed me in the hair.
After a while, I felt the tears dry up. Dried tear stains covered my face before my emotions finally calmed down.
"Cecil ...... Where's Cecil?" I looked up at Duster, my voice hoarse.
Duster frowned at me and hesitated for a moment before dropping his eyes sadly, "Cheryl, I'm so sorry. You were in a coma for three days, and I've laid Cecil's body to rest so that he can be laid to rest."
I froze, tears rolling from my eyes again as I gritted my teeth, "No need to apologize, Duster, you were right. Where did you lay him to rest?"
"Pittman, that's where you grew up together." Duster said.
"Thank you Duster, I'm going back to see him." I moved to sit up from the bed in a panic, ready to put on my shoes and get out of here.
"Wait, Cheryl ......" Duster frowned at me, his lips moving as if he had something to say to me.
"What's wrong Duster," I looked at him confused.
"Let's go in a few days, all the vampires are out to get you, the only place you'll be safest is in the werewolf tribe." Duster said looking at me.
"Duster, you're telling me the truth, you know about Burris, don't you?" I asked looking at Duster.
Duster looked a little chagrined and scratched the curls on his head, stifling his head to keep quiet.
"I'm a vampire too Duster, I can't stay on your tribe." I said to him.
"Cheryl, no matter what you are, I will not hurt you, nor will I allow any other werewolf to hurt you." Duster said firmly.
"But I can't let you suffer the questioning of your clan, and I have to avenge Cecil and get Amanda back to the manor to help Burris," I said to Duster.
Duster wrinkled his brow and looked at me, seemingly hesitant.
I gave him a look and tried to leave again, but Duster stopped me again.
"Burris has been captured by Dennis, you'll definitely fall into their trap if you go out there now." Duster finally told the truth.
"What do you mean? You're not lying to me Duster," I looked at Duster incredulously.
Burris was so good, how could he be captured by Dennis.
"I'm not lying to you, Rory and Gene followed Tyrone to Burris' estate and they saw Burris and Dennis fighting with their own eyes. But Dennis had so many helpers that Burris was still captured by them." Duster said seriously.
"Oh my god, this is all because of me ......" I scratched my hair in pain.
I suddenly didn't know what to do, it all seemed to be my fault.
"Hey, cheer up Cheryl. how about you stay with me for a couple of days and when I'm done with Collier, I'll walk you to Tyrone for revenge?" Duster soothed me.
"No Duster, running away makes me anxious, I have to do something." I said to Duster.
"It's not a cop-out Cheryl, you can't fight them alone, wait for me, okay? I'll definitely be there with you." Duster continued to persuade.
Duster was right, I'd be looking to die if I went alone. I'm always so impulsive, I guess I should learn to be calm.
"Okay Duster, I promise." I said.
I agreed to Duster's suggestion that we would go get Amanda's help together after he took care of Collier.
Two days later, Duster and Collier's match started. duster invited me to watch the match, and even though I knew I wouldn't be welcome, I answered the invitation and went to the arena.
The arena was an open meadow, and the competitors and spectators were separated by a high iron fence in an oval, so we could only watch from outside the fence.
The competition consisted of contestants fighting in wolf form, and there were two ways to determine the winner, one where someone voluntarily conceded defeat, and one where someone was killed.
I knew Duster would win, but I was worried that Collier would pull a trick.
Duster never bothered to use those tricks, and naturally, he wouldn't defend himself against his opponent using such tricks. I made sure to keep a close eye on Collier in case he hurt Duster by improper means.
As I stood in the pack of werewolves, I kept getting unkind looks from people who I knew could see me for what I was and wanted to pounce on me and tear me apart.
But Rory and Gene were standing guard over me, and they were only normal werewolves who wouldn't dare do anything to me just yet.
So, I focused all my energy on the field.
Duster and Collier both took wolf form, black and silver wolves chasing and tearing across the grasslands. It was obvious that both wolves were about the same size, but the silver wolf was a little more agile.
Moreover, the silver wolf's movements were savage and rough, and each attack knocked the black wolf to the point where it had to react for a few seconds before it could continue fighting.
Taking advantage of these few seconds, the Silver Wolf would send out another fierce attack, hitting the Black Wolf to keep fleeing, with no chance to strike at all.
Soon, the black wolf's body was covered in wounds, and his fur looked wretched from the blood stains clotted together.
There was already fear in his eyes, but the Silver Wolf's eyes were still cold and ruthless.
Suddenly, the black wolf fled frantically in one direction, and the silver wolf immediately drew his legs and chased after him.
That was a little far from the viewing point, and I intuited that Black Wolf's motive was not pure, so I also immediately followed him.
Sure enough, when I rushed over, the Silver Wolf's front paws were already caught in the sharp traps.
Duster lifted his injured front paw and howled violently at the black wolf. The black wolf stopped fleeing and looked at the silver wolf with grim eyes as he slowly closed in towards it.
If Collier had taken human form, he would have had a sly grin on his face.
"Duster! Get out of there!" I shouted as I stood outside the guardrail.
But Duster couldn't hear me, but I knew that even if he did, he wouldn't run away.
"Fuck, this isn't fair! Collier set up a trap on the field and no one can go interrupt the race?" I angrily questioned Rory and Gene who had followed me up.
"You can't, that's our rule. No matter what happens on the field, you can't interrupt the game." Gene said seriously, frowning.
"Damn it, this is all because of you! The guys who laid out the arena didn't want Duster as the leader either, and they're all biased towards Collier because Duster brought you back as a vampire!" Rory pointed at me angrily.
"Hey, don't you get mad at me, that's no reason for Collier to cheat.Rory, you really make me look bad like that!" I said back nonchalantly.
Rory's face turned red from my anger. He gave me a hard stare, kicked the guardrail violently, and turned around to leave the area.
Gene immediately chased after him, grabbing him by the shoulders and asking, "What are you going to do, Rory?Duster told us to protect her."
"Go find the werewolf in charge of the grounds and I'm going to break his hand!" Rory said viciously as he swatted Gene's hand away and took a few steps forward, turning into a wolf.
I grimaced disdainfully and looked at the two wolves in the field once again.
Duster's front paws were injured, but he was still moving viciously and sharply, showing no signs of losing.
I suddenly realized that as long as the strength was strong enough, intrigue could be crushed.
Duster seemed to feel no pain and charged forcefully at Collier, who also seemed to realize that a trap wasn't going to hold Duster back.
The black wolf begins to feel intimidated and keeps backing away.
Interestingly enough, the black wolf accidentally stepped on the trap he had set, and he tilted his head back, letting out a howl of pain from his throat.
Duster took the opportunity to move forward and pinned the black wolf down hard with his forelimbs, cocking his head and opening his sharp teeth to bite at him ......
