Chapter 49.
Burris's POV:
Cheryl was sleeping next to me, but she wasn't sleeping soundly, her pretty eyebrows furrowed together. She seems to be having nightmares again, she's been having them lately.
"Cheryl? wake up, open your eyes and you'll be fine." I wrapped my arms around her and patted her on the back.
Gradually, my voice took effect and Cheryl's furrowed brow finally became calm.
Cheryl was like a baby now, and it gave me great satisfaction to be able to put her to sleep.
I couldn't help but drop a kiss on Cheryl's forehead, my movements extremely careful as if I was treating a precious object.
Suddenly, I felt the energy wave of summoning magic.
--It was Mopso calling me.
Remembering my father's explanation before he died, I left the coffin anyway and went to meet Mopso.
Mopso was right outside the door, and his expression looked anxious.
"What's wrong Mopso, I've banished you." I said coldly.
"Yes, Prince-sama. Although you banished us, we will never betray House Howard. I have prophesied something very important that I must tell you, please give me this opportunity." Mopso bowed and pleaded.
"What is it? You better not lie to me." I warned to Mopso.
"Of course, I must tell you that Hampton betrayed the Howard family in order to avenge his daughter, and he has told the Campbell family about your loss of the Power of Inheritance, and they will be coming to attack the Howard family soon." Mopso's expression was terrified and his voice trembled.
I snorted disdainfully and said to Mopso, "That's not bad news for me, even without the Inherited Power, I can still defeat Dennis."
I had defeated Dennis before I gained the inherited power, and he held a grudge against me for it.
"But it's not just Dennis this time, there's also Hampton and the elders from the Campbell family, so I'm afraid it will be hard to get a victory if you go into battle alone, and ......" Mopso looked like he had more to say.
"Mopso, what exactly are you trying to say?" I screwed up my eyebrows at him, a little impatient.
"Dennis has also brought Miss Chris' creators with him, and if you insist on fighting them, then you will be killed by Miss Chris! This is what the prophecy shows, and I dare not deceive you."
As Mopso said this, he kept wiping the corner of his forehead with his sleeve as if sweat was running down there.
"You say I will die at Chris' hands?" I looked at him with grim eyes.
"Yes ......" Mopso said falteringly.
"No way! She won't kill me!" I rebuked coldly.
"Of course, Miss Chris likes you, and she would have no desire to harm you. Her creator, however, has control over Chris's body, and if you do not resist, you will be killed by Miss Chris." Mopso explained politely.
As Mopso spoke, I couldn't help but keep my eyes on the crystal coffin with the girl I loved most lying inside.
Thinking about it, I gradually calmed down.
Mopso was right, the creator could control the descent's body. If I was killed by Cheryl, she would surely feel guilty about me, and I would no longer be able to protect her.
"What does the prophecy show Chris will do?" I asked Mopso in a hushed voice.
Mopso hesitated, wiped his forehead with his sleeve again, and whispered, "The prophecy shows that Chris will be kidnapped to the Campbell family castle and Dennis will marry her and perform a ritual at the wedding, draining her blood to gain power."
"Bang!" There was a loud bang.
Unable to contain the anger in my heart, I swung my fist through the wooden doorway beside me.
Luckily, the crystal coffin was soundproof and Cheryl wasn't woken up by me.
"I will never allow Dennis to treat Cheryl like this!" i said in a fierce voice.
"Cheryl?" said Mopso, looking at me suspiciously.
It took me a moment to realize that I was so incensed that I had revealed Cheryl's real name.
"It's my new name for Chris, it doesn't matter, you tell me what I should do now to avoid the outcome of the prophecy?" I asked Mopso.
Without much doubt, Mopso immediately replied, "You can get someone to send Miss Chris away."
"What should I do if I'm not with Chris and she's in danger?" I said worriedly.
"This ......" Mopso looked a little embarrassed.
"Don't hesitate to tell me everything that's really going on." I said impatiently.
"Because I have told you the results of the prophecy, the future will change and I can no longer predict what will happen after that. But the magic wand guides me that if you and Miss Chris are separated, the immediate predicament will be turned around." Mopso replied in a low voice.
When I remained silent, Mopso said eagerly, "If you still don't believe me, you can use your ability to read my mind."
I pondered for a moment and said to Mopso, "If what you say is true, then I can allow you to return to the Howard family again after all is said and done."
"Of course, we dare not deceive you. Neither Hadero nor I will betray you, and we are willing to fight with you." Mopso said seriously.
"Hadero is willing to return as well? Where is he now?" I asked.
"Of course, Hadero is reckless, but he would never betray the family. He has gone a step ahead to deal with Hampton, the traitor." Mopso said.
My emotions became a little mixed, suddenly realizing that perhaps I was too prejudiced against the elders.
"It's been hard on you guys." I said sincerely.
Mopso jerked his head up and looked at me in astonishment. Those cloudy eyes were watery and looked bright in the darkness.
After saying goodbye to Mopso for now, I returned to Cheryl's side.
Her brow was furrowed again, but as soon as I was close enough, those frowns grew flat again.
But I frowned, looking into Cheryl's eyes full of reluctance, and I couldn't help but raise my hand to stroke her hair.
Because of Mopso's prophecy, I had to be separated from Cheryl. Just the thought that I would be driving Cheryl away with my own hands made my heart ache, as if a villain was pounding inside it.
Unconsciously, my energy fluctuation was too loud and woke up Cheryl who was sleeping.
As I anxiously controlled the energy fluctuations, Cheryl had opened those grey eyes and she looked at me with confused eyes.
"Burris, good evening." Cheryl slowly pulled back the corners of her mouth and gave me a sweet smile.
I felt as if my heart was melting, throbbing so violently that I had to hold it down or I feared it would jump out of my throat.
"Good evening Cheryl, you're lovely." I couldn't help but say.
The smile on Cheryl's lips keeps widening and I know I must look silly right now.
But I didn't care because Cheryl's smile was all I could fit in my eyes.
"Burris ......"
Cheryl didn't sit up, but kept moving closer to me.
She laid down on my pillow, the tip of her nose against mine, her lips against mine.
She touched my lips just a little, a sly glint in her eyes, and she didn't back away after that.
"Burris, your eyes blaze like the sun, and I love them." Cheryl said in an airy tone against my lips.
Our icy breaths intertwined and dissipated in the darkness like the receding waves of water from a stone hitting the surface of a lake.
Cheryl was teasing me ...... I suddenly realized.
No man can stand the teasing of his lover, and I was no exception, and I couldn't resist taking the initiative to go after Cheryl's soft lips.
My movements were a little rough and impatient, as if that would settle my heart.
The sound of mine and Cheryl's ragged gasps was in my ears, and my brain felt like it was wrapped in hot water, completely incapable of thinking.
It wasn't until Cheryl let out a hidden cry of pain that I realized how rough I'd been. I began to slow down my movements, kissing Cheryl from her forehead to her pretty breastbone ......
"Can I have you Cheryl."
I lifted my eyelashes, my lust-filled eyes looking up at Cheryl.
