Chapter 112: Valentine's Day

*All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt. – Charles M. Schulz*

Bunny didn’t realize what she had gotten herself into when she handed over her dreaded gender reveal to Dean and Jolene. Since Valentine’s Day was on a Saturday, Reese’s restaurants were already booked full of reservations. The next obvious choice was the big house.

Jolene and Dean added pink and blue fairy lights to the white ones that were always on the large deck and around the pool. The tables had pink or blue tablecloths with cupid centerpieces. Jolene had been concerned with the paper centerpieces being blown away.

“Zip ties.” Dean said holding long white zip ties in her hand. She showed Jolene and Helen how to anchor the centerpieces to the red bricks. Decorative tulle was then hot glued onto the bricks. “When we’re done, we strip them and put them back in the corner for the next party.”

“You’ve done this once or twice.” Helen laughed as the princesses set up an assembly line.

“That’s my whole business.” Victoria admitted. “I have an events and party company. I do not do weddings anymore.”

“You promised to do my wedding.” Dean grinned at her aunt.

“There are always exceptions. If Reese were to get married again,” Victoria cleared her throat dramatically, “I would be more than willing to do his.”

“Subtle mom.” One of the teens laughed.

“What she’s trying to ask, and failing,” Gina pointed out, “is if you two are going to get married.”

“I don’t know.” Helen admitted softly. “We’ve talked about it, but I don’t think I’m ready.” Unconsciously, she touched her collar.

“I don’t know why.” Jolene told her mom. “From what I understand, that’s as good as a wedding band.”

The next day as everyone gathered on the large deck, weddings, rings and collars were the furthest thing from Helen’s mind. Bunny arrived with Jaxon and Ty and her moms arrived shortly after.

“Helen, this are my moms, Cassie and Bridget. Helen is Jaxon’s mom.” Jolene said a little nervously.

“One thing is for certain.” Cassie said with a smile. “This baby will have plenty of grannies.”

Helen laughed. “I don’t think you can ever have too many grandmas.”

Reese stepped up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. His hands instinctively rested on her belly as he kissed her hair. “Who needs more grandmas?”

“We’re saying that the baby will have plenty of grandmas.” Cassie said as she grinned at Reese. “Bunny said that you two are also having a baby.”

“Yes.” Helen blushed and Reese grinned.

“Are we going to be doing this again in a few months?” Bridget asked.

“Yes.” All three of Helen’s children answered.

“We decided that this is most likely the last of your children.” Jaxon said. “And you should have *all* the experiences with this one that you didn’t get with us.”

“Which means that you’re getting a baby shower this time.” Jolene told her.

“Don’t do this to me.” Helen whispered. “I cry over everything.”

Jaxon and Ty both looked at Bunny who teared up. “Shut up.” She mumbled before waddling over to the table with finger food.

“She was crying at a soup commercial.” Ty explained.

“The snowman one?” Reese asked with a grin.

“It’s hormones.” Helen explained.

Ty stiffened and Jaxon gripped his hand. Walking up the driveway was an older black couple. Not his parents, but his paternal aunt and uncle. They themselves never had any children and Ty was named after him.

“Uncle Tyrus.” Ty said.

“We didn’t know if we should bring anything.” Tyrus said, nervously.

Regina handed Jaxon a gift bag. “Bunny said that you were doing a woodsy theme.”

He looked at Ty who nodded. “Thank you.” Jaxon said, accepting the gift.

“I don’t agree with your parents.” Tyrus said, emotions were thick in his voice. “I don’t understand your relationship, but you’re still the same boy that I watched grow into a man.”

Regina gave a watery smile, “W just want to be ... we would like to be a part of the baby’s life. Part of your lives again. If you’ll let us.”

Ty let go of Jaxon’s hand and hugged his father's brother and his wife. “Always.” He whispered.

Helen sniffled as she tried to hold back her tears. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.” Reese said as he guided her over to the seating area.

A little later, Victoria called everyone together and positioned the three parents to be under a large heart shaped pinata. There were three cords of pink, white and baby blue rope attached to the bottom of the heart.

“If this works the way it’s supposed to,” she smirked and the princesses laughed, “in case you missed it, the last one did not work like it was supposed to. So, again, if this one works like it’s supposed to, they should be covered in confetti.”

“Now, if you think it’s a girl, stand over here. O, you are required to guess that you’re getting another princess.” She pointed to her right and Reese obediently went over there. Pointing to her left, Victoria continued. “Boys over here.”

Waiting until everyone was settled in their sections, she turned to the three people under the heart.

“Whenever you are ready.”

Bunny grabbed the center rope, and her men grabbed the remaining two. Ty counted down from three and they all pulled at one time. White and silver confetti flittered down around them.

“Dean!” Victoria called out. “Where is she?”

“Monster, no! Not Helen!” Dean called as she tried to guide the dog towards Bunny.

Helen looked down at Monster as he sat next to her wearing a pink dress and carrying a pink heart that said…

“Girl!” Helen declared.

Ty and Bunny were kissing as Jaxon looked up and saw that his pink rope was still attached inside. He tugged on it as Ty and Bunny pulled him into their hug. With that last tug, pink confetti and glitter covered all three of them.

‘We’re having a little girl.” Bunny told her men.

They both kissed her cheeks before exchanging a light kiss with each other.
