Chapter 38: Photo Shoot
*Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light. – Brené Brown*
Helen pulled up to the Queen Anne style house and noticed the other cars in the lot. Somehow, she doubted that all five belonged to employees. When she told Bunny about the appointment, she insisted on doing Helen’s hair and makeup.
She felt so weird walking into the house. She had never done pictures of just her before. Sure, there were family pictures and candid shots that the kids had done. But never anything like this.
“Helen?” a woman asked as Helen came through the door.
“Yes.”
“Oh, good. I need a second set of eyes.” The woman with rainbow colored hair said handing her a picture. “Do they match?”
Helen took the picture and looked at the adults recreating a childhood picture. Seven were lined up in age order on the stairs. The youngest, a toddler then and now one of the tallest, was straddling the banister and leaning his head against his sisters shoulder. They were all wearing Christmas outfits that were about twenty years out of style.
“They look like they match.” Helen said handing it back.
“Excellent.” She focused the camera and then counted down from three. “All right. I think that’s the last one. I’ll get them finished up and call you when they’re ready.”
The group moved off the stairs and moved into two different rooms. The guys went into one while the girls went into another. Michelle turned and looked at Helen.
She had worn the wrap dress because it could be adjusted down to fit her shrinking body. Her hair was twisted up in a French twist and makeup perfectly done.
“You’re beautiful.” Michelle said with a smile as she held out her hand. “I’m Michelle Perry, one of Owen’s many sisters.”
“I’m Helen.” She said accepting the hand.
Michelle had short hair with a myriad of colors, it was shaved on the right side. She had bright blue eyes and black eyebrows with a silver ring in each. She also had a silver septum and lip ring. Her right ear had five hoops with a diamond stud between each of them and a double industrial.
She stood at just below six feet and had an athletic build. Her jeans were well worn and her t-shirt had Perry’s Precious Pictures with a single P in the shape of an old fashioned tripod camera.
“Owen dropped off some clothes for you.” Michelle said as she led Helen upstairs. “He has a really nice outfit picked for you.” She opened the door to a dressing room. “It’s hanging in the armoire, the lingerie is in the box and the shoes are in the bottom of the armoire.”
Helen opened the armoire and found a short black skirt and burgundy jacket. In the box of lingerie, there was a black garter belt, thigh high stocking, lace underwear, bra and a baby doll. She looked over at Michelle.
“There’s no shirt.”
“No, honey. He booked you for a boudoir package.”
“A what?” Helen squeaked as Michelle walked out of the room.
She grabbed her phone and sent the only thing that she could think of.
As Reese pulled into the parking lot outside Michelle’s studio, his phone chimed. He had expected resistance. That was why he was here instead of having the usual Saturday afternoon meeting. His phone chimed again as he got out of the Impala.
He looked at the screen as he went through the door. It chimed again as he opened the messaging app. His screen was filled with little mermaid emoji pictures.
“Michelle?” he called out as his phone chimed again.
“Up here.” She said and he took the stairs two at a time.
“She in there?” he asked motioning towards the door next to his sister. She nodded as he went through and straight to the woman sitting on the make-up chair.
“I can’t do this.”
Reese knelt in front of her and placed his hands on her thighs. He looked up at her with adoration. From the partially open door, Michelle lifted her camera and snapped a few candid pictures.
“What part can you not do?”
“The outfit. The pictures. Your sister seeing me…”
“The outfit? I picked it specifically for this. Do you know why? I want to see you in it. Take you out. Then bring you home and strip it off of you.”
He untied the dress as he spoke. Then he helped her to stand up and Helen started to shrug off the dress.
“I want to undress you.” Reese kissed her shoulder and Michelle snapped some more pictures. “I want you to know how beautiful you are.” The dress fell into a puddle of silk in the chair as he kissed his way up her neck. “I want you to see how beautiful you are.”
His hands slipped to the back of her thighs and he bent slightly before effortlessly lifting her up. She instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist and her hands clung to his shoulders.
Michelle continued to quietly snap pictures. There, before her eyes, her brother was falling in love. She wanted these pictures for him. Because the woman in his arms was falling with him. In this simple moment, while discussing clothes and pictures.
“These are for you, Helen. Not me. I see your beauty. I want you to see it also.” Reese whispered in her ear. “I’m not going to make you. I’ll never make you do something you don’t want to. All I’m asking is that you push your boundaries.”
