Chapter 160: Late
*Your crown has been bought and paid for. Put it on your head and wear it. – Dr. Maya Angelou*
Neo’s phone rang lighting up a small area in the darkened room. Carefully disentangling himself from Jolene, he reached for the offending device on the bedside table. Reese’s name flashed across the screen, and he clicked the green button.
“Yeah.” He whispered.
“I wake you up?” Reese laughed.
“Not all of us are vampires.” Neo informed his quietly.
“Yeah, yeah.” The other man laughed. “You do realize that it’s after ten in the morning.”
“It is not.”
After they had cuddled in the purple and black room at the club, he had put them in a shower and then they went and ate lunch. Afterwards, they went back to the big house. He checked in with Shelby, her office was now set up here and she enjoyed being around the guys again.
The warehouse was a total loss for the building. But the safe rooms and underground firing range were both still standing. The plan was to turn it into a cross fit gym. And he was meeting Reese there tomorrow at ten.
Looking at his phone, he realized that it was indeed after ten the following morning.
“Shit.”
“Everything okay?” Jolene asked as she sat up.
“Ahhhh…” Reese chuckled from his end of the line.
“Shut up.” Neo growled at him. "I’ll be there in twenty.”
“Uh-huh. Tell my wife’s daughter good morning or me.” Reese said and Neo just grunted as he hung up.
Rolling over, Neo pulled Jolene to him for a good morning kiss. “I’m late for an appointment with Reese.” He told her as he nibbled on her lips.
Wrapping her arms and legs around him, she kissed him back. “Then shouldn’t you get going?”
“Probably.” The admission came with a grin as he slid his hand between then and began to tease her dampening core.
“Are you going to?” She grinned as she squirmed against his caresses.
“Probably not.” He lined himself up and began to slide inside her.
An hour and twenty minutes later, Neo pulled into the parking lot of where his warehouse once stood. Reese looked up from where he sat on the tailgate of his work truck with two of his men. He said something to the two men who laughed as Reese hopped off the tailgate and approached the SUV.
“He knows.” Jolene whispered and realized that she was blushing.
“Yup.” Neo agreed as he leaned over and kissed her lightly. “The hickeys around your neck are a pretty good indicator too.”
Whatever her response was died on her lips as her door opened and Reese leaned in.
“It’s about time you two got here.” Reese grinned at his friend and stepdaughter. “Let’s walk through this and then we’ll go get lunch.”
“Sounds good.” Neo agreed as he got out on his side and walked away giving them privacy.
“You good?” Reese asked quietly.
She nodded, refusing to meet his eyes.
“I’m sure that he’s told you that we Doms have a thing about needing to hear you say that you’re okay. You need to use your words.”
“I’m embarrassed. You know why we’re an hour late.”
Chuckling, Reese squatted down and pushed his sunglasses up on top of his head. “Not sure if you’re aware of this, but I have kids. Three of them infants. I know what you were doing.”
“I just want to pretend that you don’t.” she admitted.
“Okay.” He agreed and she looked at him in surprise.
“Okay?”
“Okay.”
“Just like that? You’ll pretend that I wasn’t just… less than thirty minutes ago?”
“If it makes you feel better, yes.”
“Why?”
“I’m going to assume that Hank threw your sex life around like it was a trophy for him to brag about.”
Looking down at her hands in the lap, she nodded. “Yes.” Her voice was barely audible to the man only inches away from her.
“Neo and I are two of the officers of the club. We see men like Hank all the time. They come in, wanting to dominate their partner. Wanting absolute complete control. Some will even try to play without a safe word. We don’t tolerate it.”
Reese reached over and slid his hand between hers.
“Neo’s going to take his time with you. When he took you to the club yesterday, he broke the rules, and he knew it. But he spoke to the rest of the officers a while back and told us what he planned to do. We didn’t know when we got the notice that he was at the club.”
“He told you we were there?”
“Any time that the alarm is deactivated or reactivated, the club officers get notifications. There’s cameras in the hall and some of the rooms. He’s not into blood play, so he would not have done anything in any of the rooms with them.”
“It was a purple and black room.” She admitted quietly.
“The one with a throne?” Reese asked and Jolene nodded before giving a soft yes. “He’s a bit of a voyeur.”
“You all know this about each other and act like it’s normal.”
“It is normal. If it wasn’t, there wouldn’t be clubs like ours all over the world.”
“Has my mom…” Her cheeks blushed so much like her mother that Reese couldn't help but smile.
“We’ve played a few times there. But not until after we had a contract that was reviewed and approved by another officer. And her safe word had to be on file.”
“Has she ever used her safe word?”
“She has. And each time I have respected her boundaries.” He squeezed her hand. “Neo will respect your boundaries. He won’t push, and if you ever get uncomfortable call myself or Ty.”
“Let me guess, he’s also an officer.”
“He is. Jaxon is not, but Bunny is. When you’re ready, it will be Steven or Amaris that approves your contract.” He chuckled. “Probably Steven because Amaris would try to steal you. If for no other reason than to annoy Neo.”
“This is not pretending that you don’t know.” Jolene pointed out with a nervous laugh.
He gave a soft chuckle. “I have no idea what you two did in a private room at a sex club. Or what caused my typically very punctual friend to be nearly two hours late. And I certainly don’t know how you got all those fresh hickeys that I’m currently ignoring.”
“Not very well.” She pointed out softly.
Grinning at her, he used his free hand to turn her face towards his. “I’m just telling my princess that she’s found herself a good man. One that will spoil her and take care of her.”
“I’m scared, Reese.”
“Believe it or not, so is he. He’s had playmates before. But he’s never collared any of them before.”
Her hand moved to the spiderweb collar that was under her sleeveless mock turtleneck. Her fingers toyed with the little bump under her black shirt.
“It’s a safety alarm.”
“It is. But it also means much more than that. Ask him the story of Grandfather Spider.”
“Is it anything like Betty?”
“No, Betty represents his guide while Grandfather Spider is his people.” He stood up and tugged her hands gently. “Come on, let’s go find out how much of his insurance money I’m going to get.”
"Just about all of it." Jolene said as she got out of the SUV.
"Pretty much."
