Chapter 199: Pictures
*As your kids grow they may forget what you said, but won’t forget how you made them feel. – Kevin Heath*
It had been a long weekend, starting with Dean’s graduation on Friday night and ending with the babies’ first birthday party today. After the party had broken up, several people had stayed just to play in the pool. Ariel, true to her namesake, loved being in the water and was upset when they finally got out of the pool.
She had started to cry, but Ty and Jaxon were there with cuddles. If there was any doubt about her being daddy’s girl, it would only be because the doubter had never seen her light up when either of them came into view.
Her favorite place was between her two fathers. She definitely took after her mother in that regard. Most nights she would fall asleep on Bunny’s lap or shoulder, a hand or foot on each of the men.
Currently, she lay on Bunny’s shoulder, her hand tightly gripping Jaxon’s hair and her opposite foot on Ty’s arm. Her soft snores filled her mother’s ear and anytime they tried to move her, she scrunched up her face and whimpered in complaint.
“We’re going to have to move her.” Bunny finally said as she shifted uncomfortably.
“Need to get up?” Jaxon asked as he tried to get the tiny fingers to release his hair.
“My bladder is about to explode.” Bunny admitted.
Laughing softly, Ty stood up and helped his partner. As soon as she let go of his shoulder length hair, Ty picked her up and moved her to his chest. Ariel gave a few soft whimpers, and he soothed her with a few pats on the back and rocking on his feet.
Bunny stood up and went to the powder room downstairs as Ty took the baby upstairs to her woodland fairy nursery. Her dark eyes opened only briefly as he changed her diaper and put her in a lightweight sleeper. They fluttered again as he placed her in the crib that had the mattress set on the lowest setting.
When he made it back downstairs, Bunny was sitting in Jaxon’s lap on the couch. Sitting next to the other man, he wrapped his arms around the couple. Jaxon leaned into Ty’s chest and grinned when the large hand fisted his hair.
Ty turned Jaxon’s head and slanted his lips over the paler ones. Bunny whimpered at watching the two men. She knew that her desires and fantasies were not the norm. But as with everything else with their unconventional relationship, it worked for them.
“See something you like?” Ty teased her.
“You know I do.” She admitted, watching as Jaxon kissed a light trail along Ty’s darker neck.
He smiled at her and slid his other hand into her hair. “Did you enjoy today?”
“I did.” She smiled at him as Jaxon turned from Ty’s neck to look at her.
“You’re not upset that Ariel had her party with the triplets, are you?” he asked.
“We can have another one for her, if you want.” Ty offered.
“It was perfect.” She smiled at both of her men.
She loved that they were both worried about how she felt. They were so attentive to her needs and desires. And they wanted the best for her and their children.
“They share a birthday, it’s only appropriate that they have their first birthdays together. In fact, I’m sure that the next few years will be done together.”
“Are you okay with that?” Jaxon asked. “I don’t want you to think that you have to do that because of my mom. Or because they’re my siblings.”
Bunny shook her head and gave a small laugh. “Helen and I were talking about it earlier. Cheryl too.”
“About what?” Ty asked, moving his hands to pull her legs into his lap.
“These first few birthdays are more for us than for babies. I mean, really, what are the chances of any of them remembering their first birthday? Or even the second or third birthday parties?”
“That’s true.” Ty stated.
After a moment of thought, Jaxon gave a small scoff. “I don’t even remember Jolene or JD’s first birthday parties.”
“They didn’t have one.” Bunny told him. “It wasn’t something that your dad would give her money for. Not until you got older, and he could use it to network and for social climbing.”
“That’s why Jolene had such a big sweet sixteen party.” Jaxon said softly and Bunny nodded.
Could there be anything in his life that Bob had not tainted? Every happy memory of his childhood where his father had been involved, Jaxon realized that nothing was what he really remembered.
His lavish graduation party had been attended by more of Bob’s financial cronies than the graduate’s friends.
Excluded from the country club party had been his mother and siblings.
Helen had encouraged him to go and have fun, enjoy himself, they had a smaller party at the big two-story house that he now hated.
Looking back, how many times had that happened? Every major event of their childhoods had two celebrations. The one that none of the kids wanted to go to but were obligated to attend. And the smaller gatherings with just the four of them and their friends.
Bunny touched his cheek and Jaxon shook his head as if to clear it. “Where did you go?”
“Bad memory lane.” He smiled sadly. “I don’t want to be like my father.”
“You’re nothing like him.” She assured him.
“Olivia has told you this several times.” Ty pointed out.
After Jaxon started seeing the therapists, he’d had several joint appointments. His mom. Both of his partners – together and alone. Jolene. Summer. Reese. Even Dean and Neo had gone.
He had even asked Bob and received the answer that he had expected. “I’m not going to go talk to your pussy ass *therapist* with you. Fucking man up and get over it. Whatever the hell it is.”
Turning his head, he pressed a kiss into Bunny’s palm. “I don’t deserve you.” His eyes met Ty’s dark ones. “Either of you,”
“You do.” Ty assured him. “You deserve so much in life. And together, we’re going to go after everything that we all deserve.”
“Liberty, justice and the pursuit of happiness?” Bunny asked lightly and both men laughed.
“Something like that.” Ty smiled.
“Pursuit of sexual happiness?” Jaxon suggested with an exaggerated eyebrow waggle.
Bunny laughed and laid her head on his shoulder. “How do you think I ended up pregnant?”
“The first time,” Ty mused, “I’m pretty sure it happened on our date night when we took you right over there.” He pointed to the area in front of the door.
“And this one?” she asked rubbing her belly.
“Maybe the night he had you strapped to the cross at the club on the night I was on shift, and he kept sending me pictures.” He pulled out his phone and opened up his second photo app, the one that held all his X-rated pictures. “Not that I’m complaining. I thoroughly have enjoyed these pictures.”
“So have I.” Jaxon admitted.
“How come I don’t have them?” Bunny pouted.
“I’ll send them.” Ty told her.
Smiling, she gently stroked her foot up the bulge in his shorts. “I love you. Both of you.”
Jaxon kissed her. “I love you, too.” Turning his head, he met Ty’s mouth with a kiss. “I love you.”
“I love you both. More and more every day.”
