Chapter 30: Morning

*A soul mate isn’t someone who completes you. No, a soul mate is someone who inspires you to complete yourself. – Bianca Sparacino*

Dean entered Reese’s house the following morning to get details about his date. Obviously it went well since he broke his own rule and brought her home. Dean’s plan was to do what she did most mornings, snuggle up next to him in bed and talk until it was time for her to leave.

Except, when she got to his room, Miss Helen was still there. He lay on his back and her head was on his shoulder. He had an arm around her and his other hand held hers against his chest. They were both still dressed.

Quietly, she snapped a picture and then walked out of the house. She sent a quick message to the group chat simply labeled ‘King’s Princesses.’ But the picture was hers.

Almost immediately, there were questions about the new Queen. Dean said she didn’t know much, but they were asleep in his bed.

Cheryl asked if it was his bed or the other bed. They all knew about the second bedroom that none were allowed in. Uncle Owen had a Fifty Shades side to him.

HIS BED she replied and then headed back to her house. As she walked, she sent a separate message to Daphne.

Dean fixed two mugs of coffee, grabbed a guest bag and then walked back across the driveway. This time, she took Monster with her. As soon as they were through the door, the pit bull raced down the hall and jumped on the bed.

“Dean!” Reese yelled from the bedroom.

“Monster. Get down.” She said setting the coffees on the bedside table. The dog obeyed but was so excited that his butt was bouncing. “Daphne is on her way over with a new outfit.” She handed the small travel bag to Helen who was still being protected by Reese. “It has toiletries and basic makeup. Do you need a hairdryer or curling iron?”

“No.” She said softly accepting the bag.

“I’m taking twenty from your wallet for breakfast.”

“Excuse me?” he asked.

“What do you want for breakfast?” Dean said sweetly.

“I’ll fix us breakfast.” He growled at the teen.

“Dude, it’s nearly seven thirty.” She replied absently scratching the dog’s head.

“Bring me my phone. And take your ass to school.” Reese ordered.

Dean walked out of the room and Monster put his front paws on the bed. Before Reese could stop him, the big dog was up on the bed again. Reese rolled to protect Helen as Monster gave them both kisses.

“Monster. Leave them alone.” Daphne said coming into the room. “I grabbed a couple of outfits for you to choose from. Monster, get down! Dean.”

“Monster, get off the bed.” Dean said handing Reese two phones. The large dog slid off the bed, pulling the blanket with him. Daphne smiled at Dean as they both saw that both Helen and Reese were still fully dressed. “I brought your phone also, Miss Helen. It was ringing in your bag.”

“Thank you.” Helen said quietly as Reese rolled to his back, keeping Helen pinned to his side.

“Frank, it’s Owen Reese. Doing fine. Look, Helen is going to be in late today. Yeah. Thanks for not making me come up with some stupid excuse.” Helen blushed at this statement and could hear her boss laughing. With a smile, Reese hung up the phone and kissed Helen on the top of her head. “Princess, get to school and put Monster in his run. Goodbye, princess, I’ll come by and pay for the outfits later.”

“I think we’ve been dismissed.” Daphne said hanging the garment bag on the closet door.

“Uh-huh. First time he let’s a woman stay the night in his bed and we’re supposed to not notice.”

“Glad you figured that out.” Reese told her. “Dog run. School. Now.”

“Come on, Monster.” Dean said as she and Daphne walked down the hall.

The phone in Helen’s hand began to ring and she paled as she saw JD on the screen. “Oh, God. What do I tell him?”

“That it was late and you stayed over.” Reese said simply.

“Hey.” She said answering the phone.

“You okay?”

“I’m fine. It was late, so I stayed over here.”

“Did you have a good time? Up until you had sex. I don’t need to hear about that.” Her youngest said and she laughed.

“We didn’t have sex.”

“Then he’s an idiot.” JD told her.

“Gentleman.” Reese corrected with a smile.

“Hank saw your car at the gym and wanted to make sure you weren’t broke down or anything.”

“I’m good. Shouldn’t you be at the park?”

“Tomorrow. I’m glad you had fun, mom. Love you.”

“Love you, too.” She said and ended the call. “That did not go at all how I expected.”

“Kids can surprise you.” He said softly. “Sometimes in a good way.”

“Sometimes.” She agreed as she rested her chin on his chest and looked at him. “I did have a good time.”

“Me too.” He placed an arm under his head and looked down at her. She was staring at his large bicep. “Other than Monster, I enjoyed waking up to you in my arms. I like the way you feel curled up against me like this.”

“I like it too. I don’t think I’ve ever woken up like that.”

“Being attacked by a killer dog that will lick you to death?”

“Feeling wanted.”

Reese pulled her to him and held her to him. “I want you.”
