Chapter 146: Graduation

*Take pride in how far you’ve come. Have faith in how far you can go. But don’t forget to enjoy the journey. – Michael Josephson*
Helen had been an emotional mess all week. Or more like all month.
She had married Reese. The princess club was a little upset over not being there when they went to the courthouse but understood. Victoria was already planning their wedding. Helen told her that she didn’t want anything extravagant or expensive.
The party planner just laughed and said that Helen would have the wedding of her dreams. It wasn’t until later that Helen found out that Victoria specialized in the extravagant weddings and parties, on the cheap. She sis her own daughter’s Quinceañera for only a few thousand dollars.
A few days later Helen and Reese found out she was having not twins, but triplets. A boy, a girl and a mystery. Or as Reese explained it, one of each flavor.
After a quick meeting with the architect and his general contractor, a few changes were made to the plans. They shrank the apartment for the nanny, the bedrooms and the second playroom. But they got the extra bedroom squeezed in.
“You’re not hiding any more in there, are you?” Reese teased.
“I started this off with just one.” Helen teased back. “You’re the one that keeps getting me pregnant.”
They still laughed about Dr. Aberton swearing that they were the first ones that he knew of to get pregnant while already pregnant.
Then there was Bunny’s baby shower and the even more shocking revelation of Gina having tattoos on her breasts and liking woo-woo sex. No one ever asked what woo-woo sex entailed. It didn’t take long for Gina to realize that her night of exposing her secrets had been talked about.
“I’m never going to live that down.” Gina grumbled any time Cheryl was around and began giggling.
Over the past week there had been the awards and senior nights that had Helen in tears before they even left the house. JD received graduation cords for his accomplishments.
Red for all the blood he had donated.
Gold and white for A/B Honor Roll.
Burgandy and blue for Swim Team.
And a stole with the Navy seal and Navy written on the other side.
There were lots and lots of pictures taken of him in his cords. And the suit that Reese bought him for all the banquets and graduation. There were even more of them today in both his suit and his cap and gown. He posed for pictures with his brother and sister. His mom. Reese. His mom and Reese. Jaxon and his partners. Jolene and Neo. The princess club.
And Dean.
So many pictures with Dean.
Something was changing in their relationship, and Helen wasn’t sure if it was good or bad. She looked at him with love and adoration one moment. And the next minute, she was sad and fearful. Helen was lying on the couch in her and Reese’s house and she knew that they thought she was asleep as they spoke quietly.
They sat at the island in the kitchen, trying not to disturb her. The whole time, she said she wasn’t listening. But she couldn't help but listen as her son pleaded his case with the woman he loved. With her eyes barely opened, she watched the two teens through her lashes.
“I’m not going to leave you.” JD assured Dean. He reached up and tucked some hair behind her ear.
“You are.” She countered quietly. “You’re going to go to the Navy and you’re going to leave me.”
“Okay, you have me there.” He cupped her shin and tipped her face to his. “But I’m coming back to you.”
“No, you’re not. You’re going to meet someone else, someone who’s not a virgin and knows what to do to make you happy.”
“Why are you so convinced that I don’t want you?” he asked, and Helen could hear the hurt in his voice.
“You don’t ever…”
Standing up from his stool, he cupped her face between his hands and leaned down to kiss her. When he released her mouth, he rested his forehead on her own.
“I love you, Dean. I want you in ways that you cannot even begin to imagine.” He told her quietly. “I want to be the first to touch you, to taste you, to make you come. You can’t imagine how many times I jack off to thoughts of you.”
“Then-“
“Shhhh.” JD cut her off. “You’re seventeen. I’m nineteen. We have the rest of our lives. And I plan on being with you for a very, very long time.”
He kissed her again.
“I love you, Dean.”
“I love you, too.”
There was a movement in the hallway that caught Helen’s attention. Reese was listening as he stood just out of sight. He grinned at her, and she grinned back, her eyes opened a little further.
“I’m not going to go to the Navy and forget about you. I’m not going to leave this house and find someone else. You are who I love. You are who I want. No one else. You.”
“How can you be so sure?” Dean whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
JD kissed her again before smiling at her. “Because Shelley came around the other day and was trying to give me a blow job. Before you, all she had to do was flash her tits and offer up her body and would be getting a chub. There was no reaction, no urge, I simply told her to get out of my way so I could get home to my girl.”
Helen tried to hold back her shock, but a soft sound escaped her. She was thankful that it was not loud enough for either of them to hear her.
Reese glanced at his watch and saw that it was already a little past the time that they should have left. He quietly walked back down the hall to his office. He closed his office door a little louder than usual and then walked back down the hall.
“Helen, Kitten, it’s time to get up.” Reese declared as he walked into the living room. He ignored the teens in the kitchen, or at least acted like he didn’t see JD wiping tears away from Dean’s eyes. Stepping in front of the couch, he helped Helen to sit up.
It took a little more time to get her up and out the door. in the meantime, JD and Dean headed towards the college’s athletic center where the high school held their graduation. JD was already lined up when his mom and stepdad met up with Dean in their seats.
Helen was surprised to see the whole princess club filling the area. Bunny was also there and looking just as miserable as Helen felt. But there was no way that she was going to miss her son’s graduation. Swollen ankles, back pain and heartburn were not going to stop her.
She grabbed the commencement program and Reese quickly took it back. He had made everyone promise not to look inside. Jolene grabbed her mom’s hand.
“I was just going to see who the speaker was.” Helen complained quietly.
“The news anchor from channel seven.” Her daughter told her.
Helen gave a soft harumph and squirmed to get more comfortable. A few minutes later, the ceremony began with the class walking out. Where JD should have been in line, was a tall, busty woman with teal hair. He walked out a little past halfway through the class and Helen looked up at Reese.
“What did you two do?” Helen hissed at her husband.
Grinning, Reese leaned down and kissed her lightly. “He asked for a very specific graduation present.”
The tall blonde from Channel Seven gave a good speech and then the valedictorian gave a lovely speech. At least, Helen assumed it was. She had babies sitting on her bladder and waddled to the bathroom with her daughter. They got back just after the names began to be read.
There was no Dunning.
But about a hundred graduates later, there was another name.
“Jonathon Daniel Reese.”
After Helen was through applauding for her son, she looked up at Reese. He smiled down at her.
“He didn’t want the other name. He wanted your name.” Reese brushed a tear away from the corner of her eye. “And he may have wanted my name going into the Navy.”
