Chapter 193: Busy Morning

*I’m the big sister. I want to make sure she has everything, even if I don’t have anything. It’s hard. I love her too much. That’s what counts. – Venus Williams*
Last night, Dean graduated from high school with a large cheering section made up of her family, friends and a small contingent of Seabees. And a cardboard cutout of her mom.
This afternoon, they were having her graduation party. It was shaping up to be one hell of a party. JD was home until Wednesday but would be back a week and half later for his brother’s commitment ceremony to Bunny and Ty. The other Seabees would leave tomorrow, only a few planned to stay for the birthday party for the four babies. Although they had all been invited.
All the princess club and their families would be there. They had all been upset when they learned that she had got married without them. But then the newlywed couple promised to have a real wedding on their one-year anniversary.
Deon and Craig were both home for summer and they were not going to miss this party. Or a chance to swim in the pool that they both envied from the moment they first saw it. There were a few other members of the swim team that were going to be there.
But before they could have the party, Dean had to be at the mural in the historic district near Reese’s office. They were unveiling her mural today.
It had been carefully plotted and planned. She had used everything from giant rollers to tiny pinstripe brushes. When it was finished and the three-dimensional elements were added, it appeared as if you were looking back in time to when the street was the main business district in Morgan City. Even the old storefronts had been updated to her specifications. That was easy when Reese owned half of them and paid for the rest.
As was her signature, there was a hidden figure. It wasn’t as big as Reese’s zombie. But not as hidden as the ones in the nurseries. But if you were one of the lucky few, you knew where to look for Slender Man.
Bunny lay between her men debating if she should tell them where to look. She was also going through her mental list of everything that she needed to do before they arrived at the big house.
The alarm was set to go off in about half an hour and they then had three hours before they were supposed to be over to help with the last of the decorating.
Any other time, three hours would seem like plenty of time to get everything done. This morning, it felt like she needed at least another three hours. As she ran through her mental list, it seemed to only grow.
Who was getting the flowers?
The balloons?
Should she ask about the drinks...
Waking up early was not something that she did on a regular basis. Her alarms on her phone started going off nearly half an hour before she had to actually get up. But the last few mornings, she had woken up early and her stomach rolled.
Nerves.
It had to be nerves due to their commitment ceremony in a few weeks. That’s what she was chalking it up to. Until it rolled more than usual, and she pushed Ty off the bed before running for the bathroom.
“Babe?” Ty asked from the floor just before she emptied her stomach into the toilet.
“What’s wrong?” Jaxon asked as he sat up in bed.
“Bunny is sick.” Ty answered getting back up onto the large bed as the baby monitor crackled to life.
“I’ve got Ariel.” Jaxon leaned over and kissed the other man. “I can handle dirty diapers better than vomit.”
“Thanks.” Ty grinned as he watched his partner circle the bed and head down the hall to the nursery before their daughter began screaming her morning chorus. He then went into the bathroom and got Bunny a damp rag and a cup of cool water.
“It’s gotta be nerves.” She whispered as he placed a cool rag on the back of her neck.
“Are you telling me or yourself?” Ty asked quietly as she rinsed her mouth and then spit the water into the toilet.
“What else could it be?”
“A pregnancy?” he suggested taking the rag from her and rinsing it before hanging it in the shower to dry.
“No… I didn’t even know I was pregnant with Ariel.” She pointed out as he helped her to stand up. Flushing the toilet, she shook her head. "Besides, I just had the IUD taken out last week.”
“Two weeks ago,” he gently corrected as he brushed some of her hair out of her face. “They had to reschedule, and it was taken out a week early. Theoretically, you’re fertile as soon as the device is removed.”
Leaning into his chest, Bunny wrapped her arms around his waist. “I guess we should go to the store.”
“For what?” Jaxon asked as he stood in the doorway with a happy baby in his arms.
“Ma-ma!” the little girl squealed as she reached for the woman.
“Pregnancy test.” Ty smiled as he watched his daughter move into her mother’s arms.
“Oh.” Jaxon moved to the cabinet and opened the bottom drawer. Pulling out two boxes, he handed over the pregnancy tests.
“What the hell?” A surprised Bunny asked as Ty looked at the blue boxes in his hand with wide eyes.
“Pax’s daughter works at Dr. Aberton’s office and said that she’s seen women get pregnant within days of having their IUD removed.”
“That fast?” she whispered as Ariel babbled and cooed.
Ty sat the boxes on the counter and then took their daughter from his wife. “Come on, little one. Let’s give your mom some privacy.”
Staring at the boxes, Bunny couldn’t help but laugh. The last time she had done this, Helen had been on the bed asking questions. Now, between the two of them, they had four babies that would be one in only a few days. Pulling the small sample cup out of the cabinet where she had placed it nearly two years ago, she sat down on the toilet to get the needed sample.
This time, there would be no question as to who the father was. For the past year, both men had used condoms as an extra precaution. But when they decided to try for another baby, Ty insisted on continuing to use them.
“I have only one request.” He had told Jaxon. “I want a little boy with your eyes and Bunny’s hair.”
Laughing, Jaxon had nodded at the other man. “I’ll be sure to do my best.”
“Do I get any say in this?” Bunny had asked with a fake pout.
“Anything you make for us will be perfect.” Ty had told her as they all came together in a hug as they so often did.
“Kiss ass.” Jaxon teased as their woman settled between the two of them.
Leaving the tests on the counter, she walked out to the closet and found herself a casual outfit of dark magenta capri pants and a short sleeve blouse with geometric designs in black, white and bright turquoise.
Sitting at the glass and white table with the lighted mirror just outside the closet, she began to apply her makeup. Effectively ignoring the time required for the tests that were sitting a mere ten feet away from her. Once she had on her makeup, her armor of sorts, she walked back into the bathroom and looked at the four tests. As it was before, there was no doubt in her mind.
She was pregnant.
This time it was planned. This time they had tried. Even if it was only half-heartedly.
Walking down the stairs, she found her men finishing up in the kitchen with making breakfast. She smiled as she saw the pancakes – one of her biggest cravings during her pregnancy with Ariel. Her mouth watered as she thought about the tasty breakfast treat.
Both men stopped what they were doing and looked at her. With tears filling her eyes, she smiled as she nodded at them. Both men rushed to her and hugged her tight as they celebrated. Seeing her parents excited, Ariel squealed and bounced on her firetruck scooter.
“I don’t want to say anything.” Bunny finally declared. “Not yet anyway. Today is about Dean, and tomorrow is the babies.”
Ty nodded in agreement. “I don’t want to do it at the commitment ceremony.” He cupped Jaxon’s cheek. “That’s about you joining our family. I want that to be the focus.”
Jaxon smiled at him and leaned into his caress. “Mom’s wanting to have one more get together before Dean moves at the end of summer. Sometime before then.”
“That sounds good.” Ty and Bunny both agreed.
