Chapter 23: Sunday Gathering

*Experience is the hardest type of teacher. It gives you the test first and the lesson afterwards. – Oscar Wilde*

Hank had come home and told Jolene that they were going to his patrol partner’s house Sunday afternoon. She sent a text to the family chat and told them that she would miss Sunday dinner. Her mom had told her to enjoy herself. Jaxon replied that Bunny was putting the guys in charge of cooking.

JD replied with an eye roll emoji.

Jolene wore a pair of jeans that Hank liked and a pink and gray sweater that he had picked out. She didn’t like pink like her mom did, but he liked seeing her in it. Her shoes were black wedges because Hank thought that a lady should always wear some type of heels. It never occurred to her that her wardrobe had slowly become dictated by her husband.

Automatically, Jolene pulled up part of her hair leaving the majority of it down. She really wanted to cut it short but Hank loved playing with it. Her makeup was heavier than what she liked, but she did feel pretty; because Hank said she was.

Jolene stepped out of the bedroom feeling pretty and did a little spin for her husband. Hank smiled at her and pulled her into his lap. Burying his hand in her hair, he kissed her deeply.

“How did I get so lucky to have such a beautiful wife?”

“I don’t know. How did I get me a hero in blue?”

Hank kissed her again before they left. Most of the people that were at the house, she had met before. Several had been at their wedding last year.

Jolene exchanged hugs with Tori, Parkers fiancé. “I hope we weren’t supposed to bring anything.”

“Just yourself.” Tori said with her sweet southern accent. She was a strawberry blonde with dark blue eyes. Where Jolene had her mother’s fluff, Tori was rail thin. “I love this sweater. Of course, I don’t have the chest for it.”

Jolene laughed as Tori placed her hands on her chest feeling her small breasts.

“Keep searching!” Parker called out from the grill. “You’ll find them!”

“I could say the same to you!” Tori called back with a laugh. Turning back to the other women that were sitting around the table, they went back to their conversations.

When the burgers were done, Jolene sat next to Hank while they ate. She was enjoying herself and kept smiling at her husband. He squeezed her thigh and kissed her cheek before joining the other men in the living room.

“Hey!” Tori said looking past the women to the couple that walked into the backyard. “Finally drag your ass out of bed?”

A large man with strawberry blonde hair and scruff kissed her on top of her head. “Be nice. It’s a horrible job being surrounded by hot young women who want to suck my dick so hard I’ll go straight.”

“Good luck at finding a little woman that can do what I do.” The Hispanic man said sitting down next to Jolene.

The man who looked a lot like Tori winked over at him. “You hang out with the girls, I’m going to go be manly.”

“Baby, if we weren’t at your sister’s house, I’d point out you were being manly this morning.”

Tori put her fingers in her ear. “My poor virgin ears!”

“Then quit finger fucking them.” The man next to Jolene laughed and Tori threw a bag of chips at him with a laugh. “Oh, look, I am all that and a bag of chips.”

Jolene couldn’t help but laugh at the exchange. “I’m Jolene.”

“I’m Matt and I’m taken. But your sweater is adorbs! Honey, you need boobs so you can wear stuff like this.”

“Matt, may your class be filled with whiney second graders with snotty noses!” Tori said sweetly.

“And may you have them all next year.” He replied opening the chips. “Oh! Carbs!”

“You teach with Tori?” Jolene asked.

“I have second, she has third. Carb?” he offered her a chip.

Laughing, she accepted the triangle shaped corn chip. They talked and laughed and had a great time. Matt offered Jolene a reference for her student teaching.

Hank saw her sitting outside with the other women and the man. He saw the man feeding her and making her laugh and smile. Was she actually flirting? In front of him. Watching them, his anger grew and grew.

On the way home she talked all about Matt. Matt this. Matt that. Matt. Matt. Matt. He didn’t even know what she was saying, it really didn’t matter, it was about another man.

They walked into the apartment and he hung the key up and locked the door. Hank grabbed Jolene by the hair and threw her into the wall. Holding her against the wall, he punched her in the side and back.

“Are you still thinking of another man?”

Tears were streaming down her face as she cried out in pain. “What… what are … are you talking… about?”

“Matt.” Hank spat out landing another blow on her side. “Let’s just get his name out of your mouth.”

He undid his pants and pulled his hard cock out. She was forced onto her knees and he held her by her hair as he drilled in and out of her mouth. He did not stop when she gagged and he was turned on by her tears. She slapped at him to get him to stop.

“Hit me again and I’ll tear into that ass before I come down your throat.”

Fear made her compliant. He adjusted his grip on her hair and forced himself deeper into her mouth. Just as he released his load, there was a knock on the door.

“Be a good girl, go wash your face.” He told her in a threateningly quiet voice.

She crawled into the bathroom as there was a second knock. Hank pulled off his shirt and zipped his pants before opening the door.

“Hey, Fargo.” The officer at the door said apologetically. “Dispatch got a call saying it sounded like you were getting a little rough with your old lady.”

“Well, we got a little carried away.” He admitted with a grin.

“Yeah, I didn’t think there was anything to it. But you know how it is, I need to talk to her.”

“Well, yeah. Not doing your job if you don’t.” he opened the door wider. “She’s brushing her teeth, I shot a big load in her mouth right before you got here. Want something to drink?”

“You got a water? That would be great.” The young officer asked walking in closing the door almost all the way.

“Yeah.” Hank went into the small galley kitchen and grabbed a water out of the refrigerator. “Got a partner with you?”

“Tillison. Talking to the RP. How long have you been married?”

“A year in December.” Hank said returning with a couple of bottles. “You never saw a prettier bride than mine.”

Hank looked lovingly at the picture on the wall and then at the woman who came out of the bathroom. “She still takes my breath away.” He held an arm out and she curled up into his side.

“Hi, Johnson.” Jolene said with a smile.

“Hey, Jolene.” He responded as Hank kissed the top of her head. “Neighbor called about hearing you two.”

“We were over at Parkers house and his brother-in-law offered to sponsor me for my student teaching next year. We were a bit…” She looked up at her husband and smiled, “excited.”

Johnson looked at the woman in the blue department sweatshirt. She did not look like she had just been beaten. She looked like a happy bride. Content with what he saw, he wished them a good night and walked out.

As a follow-up, he and Tillison went to Parkers' house where Matt confirmed that he had offered to sponsor her. Everyone else at the party said that everything seemed good between them. With that, the investigation closed before it even really started.
