Chapter 85: Morning

*The jolliest bunch of elves this side of the nuthouse. – Clark Griswold*

As was their tradition, they held the Princess Christmas Party the day after Christmas. It made it easier to coordinate all the families and other events. Office parties. School plays. Church pageants. Holiday concerts. And they all tried to attend as many of the events as they each could.

When the princess club started, it was to help a single mom. They became the village that Mary needed. In doing so, they all became the village that each other needed. Even if they had not realized that also needed.

The princesses were there to celebrate during the good times, both big and small. High school and college graduations. Babies being born. Birthdays. Weddings. Athletic wins. Promotions. Business openings. Adoptions.

And they were there to support each other during the bad. When Gina lost her husband. Two divorces. A few miscarriages. Athletic loses. Business failures. Chemo treatments. First love heartbreaks.

Through it all, they all grew closer. They became a network and support system. Some of the youngest princesses called many of the older one grandma. And none complained. At this point, if someone called out Mom or Grandma, they all answered.

They all took turns with bottles and diapers with the babies. Discipline was handed out when it was needed. And if someone needed a break, a night out or just a shoulder to lean on, anything they needed was only a phone call or text away.

At seven o’clock, the first of the princesses arrived. Daphne walked down the hall, the silver jingle bells on her announcing her presence as she peeked into Dean’s room. The bed was pristine and did not look like it had been slept in. Monster was in his room and gave a happy yip from behind the custom gate.

“Where is your girl?” Daphne asked as she opened the gate.

Monster grabbed his new Frankenstein stuffed toy and ran down the hall. Following the dog, she heard Dean and JD being attacked. She wasn’t sure if the toy was squeaking from Monster chewing on it or if one of the teens was doing it.

Stepping into the second bedroom, Daphne found Monster between the two on his back, happily squeaking his toy.

“Anything going on here?” Daphne asked with a cocked eyebrow.

“Yes, ma’am. I’m getting pushed out of my bed.” JD answered. As if to prove the statement, Monster rolled to his side and pushed his back against the man’s legs. “Okay, Okay, I’m getting up!” He laughed as he scratched the dog behind his ear and slid out of the bed.

He was wearing a pair of Navy Seabee sweatpants that Daphne was certain that Reese had gotten him. JD walked into his attached bathroom and closed the door. Daphne went and sat on the edge of the bed and looked at her younger cousin.

“Dean, I’m not going to pry.”

“But you’re going to pry.” Dean grinned at her.

“I am.” Daphne admitted.

“Nothing happened.” Dean admitted. “I wouldn’t mind if it did, but he’s not…” she sighed.

Daphne laughed. “You’ve me our uncle, right?”

“Yeah. I just…”

“Don’t rush it.” Daphne advised as they heard others arriving. “It’ll happen soon enough.”

Dean nodded and looked away as she wiped a tear away. “I really like him.”

“I’m sure it’s mutual. But don’t make a decision you’re going to regret.” The ever-fashionable Daphne opened her arms that were currently covered by a very hideously ugly Christmas sweater.

Dean moved into the embrace and laughed as one of the jingle bells poked her in the eye. “Where did you find this … thing?”

“It’s a cute little boutique called P’s and Q’s and you should come check it out.”

“I think I’ve heard of it.” Dean laughed.

They moved apart and Daphne stood up. “Come on, let’s go get Owen and –“

“Don’t-!”

“Helen out of their bed.”

As soon as Monster heard Helen, he jumped off the bed and ran for the kitchen door. his deep bark carried down the hall.

“JD!” Dean called out as she flung the covers off and got out of bed. Skipping her slippers, she ran out of the room and down the hall. “Don’t let him out!”

JD stepped out of the bathroom and looked at a very confused Daphne. “Did you say my mom’s name?”

“Yeah?” She nodded as Dean screamed his name again.

“Crap.” He bolted down the hall and found a kitchen full of Dean’s family watching as the two teens ran out after the Staffordshire terrier.

Making her way across the now crowded driveway, Dean yelled for the door to Reese’s house not to be opened. The door burst open as Monster pushed his way in and yanking the handle out of Victoria’s hand.

“Maybe they have the door closed.” JD hoped as he followed his girlfriend into the other house. Colleen watched in shocked confusion as the trio headed down the hall.

Reese was usually up early whenever they had a princess party. But this morning, he was snuggled against Helen and had no desire to move.

Not even when the half-closed bedroom door was flung open, and Monster jumped on the bed.

“Monster, if you bring me any more babies, you’re not going to have any.” Helen laughed as the dog nudged her with a stuffed Frankenstein in his mouth.

The dog happily plopped down on top of the blankets and squeaked his toy.

Reese turned over to yell for Dean. Groaning he rolled back over pulling Helen to him and ignoring the plethora of women standing in his door.

“Monster.” Gina said with a hint of laughter. “Leave her alone.”

“He won’t.” Dean said pushing her way into the room. She walked around the bed and grabbed his collar. Monster looked at her and laid down on the bed. “Ugh. JD!”

“Is my mother dressed?” he asked entering the room with a hand over his eyes.

“No.” Reese chuckled.

“She’s covered.” Dean laughed as her dog scooted closer to Helen.

“If you want her to get up, you have to get up first.” JD reasoned with the dog. Whimpering, he scooted even closer. “If you don’t get up, you can’t go swimming.”

Sad dog eyes looked at Helen. “It’s true. You have to get out-.”

Helen suddenly turned green, and her eyes widened. Slapping one hand over her mouth, she pushed at Monster. Before anyone could react, a very naked Helen was out of bed and dashing to the bathroom. She barely made it to the toilet before her stomach emptied itself.

“I did not need to see that.” JD said as an equally naked Reese flung off the blanket and followed her into the bathroom. “Or that.” He paused with a confused look on his face. “Was *that* pierced?”

Dean chuckled as Reese closed the bathroom door before Monster could follow Helen. “You’re such a big baby.”

There was a quiet debate going on about who was the big baby. JD. Or Monster.

“Wait until the new baby gets here.” JD muttered as he tugged on the collar and got the dog moving towards his run. Dean swatted his arm and shushed him. He rolled his eyes at the some girl who had sent a group message out within minutes of hearing that the other woman was pregnant.

“Yes,” Bunny laughed, “his nipples, dick and scrotum are pierced.”

Gina chuckled lightly before quietly adding, “Ribbed for her pleasure.”

“I don’t need to know that.” JD grumbled. “I don’t need that image in my head. Colleen, is it possible to use Scrubbing Bubbles on your brain?”
