CHAPTER 25: A GOOD VIBE

Juan never thought that her deeds of saving the woman will end her in this kind of situation. Juan who had been staying in a run-down hotel for the sake of just having a roof over the top of her head found herself being transferred to a high-end hotel which was much better than the place she was at.

She had told the woman constantly that she didn’t need to move as she was leaving the next day but the woman insisted on making her live in a better place as she had saved the other.

“You shouldn’t blame this old woman, I just wanted to get to know more of you since you saved my life. At this old age of mine, if I fell, I don’t know if I was going to survive or not. So just take this as giving face to this old one,” the woman humbly spoke and Juan was reminded of her old parents.

Her heart warmed up and decided to let the woman do whatever she wanted. it wasn’t like they will be seeing each other again after this.

“I didn’t want to impose on you after all I will be leaving tomorrow and this is a waste of money,” Juan sighed as she explained herself.

“It is never a waste of money; besides I can lack anything but as for money, let’s not go there,” the woman spoke with pride as she said that.

If this statement had been said by someone else, Juan would have blacklisted the individual but this woman was just so sweet and there was no malice detected on her.

“Okay, if you say so then I will not keep rejecting you then,” Juan smiled as she sat comfortably on the couch since she will be going nowhere.

“That’s good then. I didn’t get a chance to ask you about yourself and just rushed you to change places. Do you mind telling me a bit about yourself?” the woman asked curiously.

Juan had been observing this woman for a while now. After her investigation, she had found out that the woman was very rich and somehow, she was on this trip by herself.

What she liked about her was the fact that she looked at her like any other normal person and didn’t give her the looks that others give her whenever they see her scars.

“I am Juanita Keogh and I am twenty-five years old. I am an only child and my parents are in their sixties. They had me in their late ages but they are the best people in my life and I really love them. They run a food stall so we aren’t that rich. There isn’t much about me to know,” since the woman didn’t mean any harm, Juan just told her the truth about herself and didn’t try to seek pity from her either.

The woman looked at Juanita with an affectionate gaze. For her, it was easy to investigate Juan but she just wanted to hear from the horse’s mouth. She took a great liking to the young woman and her head was already spinning some conspiracy theories.

“I am glad to see that you love your parents. Children nowadays tend to turn their backs on the people that raise them and feel ashamed of them. So, I hope you won’t mind me asking, how did you get burnt?” the woman asked as she was curious as to how this young lady had been living with such scars like that.

Juanita knew that this question was coming but she was used to hearing it so answering the question wasn’t a problem.

“I was caught up in a fire when I was eighteen. It was by grace that I came out alive but the scars were just too much. I had to get surgery but we couldn’t afford it so it got delayed until this time,” she sighed as she thought of how many troubles her family went through because of this.

The woman felt so touched and felt pity for Juan. Since the other had saved her, she wanted to do something for her. She didn’t lack money and she have a team of doctors at her beck and call.

Giving a helping hand to one more person will just add to her good deed and Juanita saved her after all so she desperately wanted to help.

“I think I can help you with this. Where do you stay?”

Juanita didn’t know what this woman was up to but she wasn’t someone who likes taking advantage of others so she was going to deny her offer no matter what it was.

“I live in Zlila at the moment,” she answered.

The woman was surprised and happy after that, “what a coincidence! I live there too. This means that we can meet each other frequently.”

Seeing the woman so excited Juanita didn’t know how to respond but she wasn’t good at rejecting the elderly after all.

“That is indeed good news but ma’am, I don’t want to make use of you for anything. You got this room for me, is already enough.”

The woman was shocked to hear the polite rejection from Juan. She was used to ladies who threw themselves whenever they hear that there were benefits that can be reaped off her and yet Juanita was already drawing the line.

She had a great liking for Juanita and she didn’t want to mess that relationship already. So as someone who had seen the world and dealt with a lot of problems since a young age, she knew that if she pushed Juan a little bit, she will never see the young lady again.

“Okay, I will not force you to do anything but before you leave, leave me your number. That way when I am back in Zlila I can meet you. You wouldn’t reject me
on this right?” she decided to concede but also used this opportunity to get her contact.

Juan knew that it will be rude of her to reject once more so she took out her phone and passed it to the woman who entered her contact in her phonebook before making a call.
