CHAPTER 63: NEW YEAR’S EVE

Juan drove Ruby back to her apartment and this was the second time she got to taste the rich people’s lives. At least the apartment wasn’t as fancy as Julian so she was at ease.

She helped the girl to clean up and listened to Ruby as she kept on babbling about many secrets. After listening to these drunken secrets, Juan felt very sorry for Ruby. It was truly tough to be born in these rich families.

At least her Julian was born in a carefree family where he was spoiled rotten and didn’t need to suffer like other children. It will also be a bonus if he is hard working and stops relying on his family.

Since he promised her, she trusted him and have faith in him that he will make it and become someone who will be able to protect her in the future.

She left a note for Ruby and made her some sober soup before leaving for her apartment. When she returned it was already late but she had time to sleep and wake up to a great morning.

Because Juan promised her parents that she will be returning back to Sparrow, she had many things to do. Even though she went shopping the previous day, Juan decided to go and do some shopping.

She didn’t call Julian this time but went on her own. Her parents were a bit uncomfortable wearing expensive things so she visited the other markets and received a good bargain.

She ate street food which she missed a lot as she had been busy eating all these homes cooked food not that home-cooked food was bad but it wasn’t a bad thing to change the palette once in a while.

Juan didn’t take her sports car so she was just like any other ordinary person out there. After a day of crazy shopping, she returned back to her apartment.

She placed everything in her villa as she didn’t want to carry any luggage this time, it was just a waste of time. As she was packing, she realized that she had dome missed calls from Ruby so she called her back.

The two talked for a long time and Juan set another appointment with Ruby to go and see her at her apartment later for dinner. Juan also had a chat with Lucy and decided to meet the other in the new year.

Days passed by quickly and the day of departure finally arrived. Julian reluctantly sends her off to the airport and hugged her goodbye. The flight was bearable and after four hours, Juan was in town.

Her parents were waiting for her at the train station so the three hugged each other happily and she went with them to the restaurant. The restaurant was operating well and after activating the teleportation runes, Juan had Gem send her parents some produce to use in their restaurant and this had brought a drastic change in the number of customers.

Juan was happy seeing this change, to think that the restaurant will be so full and have more customers lining up. Juan found an apron and began to help along. It was a tiring day but they managed to close up around eight.

It was New Year’s Eve and just like other families, Juan wanted to have a good time with her parents.

The family of three closed up and went back to their small-town house. Because of how popular her parents’ restaurant was, they hired more people to help them cook.

Juan let her parents rest while she flashed into the farm space to heat the food. Because she was afraid that things will be like this, she had cooked in advance.

The family of three enjoyed their dinner and returned to bed and slept soundly.
The next day, Pearle was up early and began to clean up in the villa. Because she didn’t know how to return back to her house, she was left with no choice but to cook breakfast in the villa.

When Juan woke up, she kissed her mother good morning and began to chat with her.

“If I want to go out, how do I do it?” Pearle asked as she didn’t want to spend the rest of her time inside.

It was New Year and many people will be coming and out there to celebrate. Juanita had never thought about it before so she summoned Gem who saved the day.

Juan was the owner of the space so no one had the right to command the space but Gem could allow them access to and from the space, so if Juanita was not there, Gem can deal with that.

Randall joined the two later and they had breakfast in harmony. After breakfast, they all flashed back into the house and began to do some chores. There weren’t many traditions to take note of on days like these.

If there were relatives, they will be having meals with them but since in their family they were just three, there was no need to make a hustle. The family cleaned up the house and changed into fresh clothes.

The family of three since they had already eaten, decided to go and greet the neighbors and wish each other more blessings. It was a tiring day for everyone but they had a great time. As the family had not taken a family portrait in years, Juan decided to do that today as it was special to all of them.

They returned home to change their clothes and went to the studio that was opened on this day. The family happily took a lot of photos to make up for the years they didn’t take them.

They were so happy and Juan had to coax her parents to stop them from crying. She felt as if she was not filial to them and told herself that in the future, she was going to make more memories with them and make sure that they will never be sad.

When they were home, the family of three was having some hot cocoa, laughing, and having fun together.

“In the future, you guys should go for a vacation. You have worked so hard these years and it is time to rest,” Juan said as she looked at her parents.

These parents of hers had never gone anywhere after settling down in Sparrow, they never talked about the past but she wanted them to have a brighter future and see the world when they were still strong and tough.
