CHAPTER 69: BIRTHDAY BANQUET 2
Seeing that his little brother was now on track, his job was half done and it was time to take the birthday boy to the hall and get this party started.
When Julian arrived, he was hugged by a lot of people and was forced to make some toast with a lot of people. However, his eyes were not on the rest of the people but he was busy looking for his woman.
As he was in the middle of talking with the ladies who were his mother’s friends, he received a message that made him smile and happy. He politely excused himself and disappeared from the hall.
“Where is your child going?” Eve’s friend asked curiously after seeing Julian runoff.
“He must be bringing his girlfriend,” Eve spoke with pride as she said that.
The friends who knew that Julian had been single for a long time especially when he was sick with that ailment, were a bit shocked. They also had daughters but couldn’t dare to match make the kids together. They also wanted grandchildren and Julian was not an ideal candidate for a husband.
“Girlfriend….this…”
Even smirked inside seeing the shocked expressions on their faces. These women had been gossiping about her and her family behind her back. Did they think that her son will remain that unlucky forever?
“Yes, you will get to see her soon.”
“What kind of a girl is she?”
“A fairy.”
Even didn’t add anything after that as she wanted to torture them with curiosity. She then left the friends and went to talk to other people, after all, they were the hosts and she had to mingle with a lot of guests.
Julian quickly found Juan waiting for him as she leaned against the car. She looked so beautiful that he stopped right in front of her and sized her up with desire in his eyes.
“Do I look that beautiful?” Juan asked as she enjoyed the gaze Julian was giving her.
“Umm, you are so splendid and I can’t take my eyes off you,” he shamelessly admitted as he moved closer to her.
Juan was happy to be complimented so she opened her arms for him and the two were embraced in a warm hug that ignited some sparks. Since they were outside, Julian didn’t want her to catch a cold, so he grabbed her soft hand and gently led her to his room from the other entrance.
Juan had no idea why the young man was not taking her to the hall but since she was here for Julian, she let him do whatever he wanted. when he opened the door, he closed her eyes and led her inside.
Juan couldn’t help but raise the corner of her mouth. He was the one with the birthday, so why was she being the one receiving a surprise?
“Don’t open your eyes until I say so?” Julian instructed in a panicky voice.
“I won’t, so do your thing,” she chased him away and patiently waited for Julian to do what he wanted.
Juan stood there for over a minute before Julian said, “you can open your eyes now.”
Juan did as he asked and when she took in the room, her eyes became teary. The room was romantically decorated, there were flowers everywhere and photos of her were all over the wall.
There were photos of her before the fire, during the fire that must have been acquired from the ongoing scandal of hers, and her current photos of the Juan she looks like now.
Julian was currently kneeling on one knee while holding a small box that she didn’t need to guess what was inside.
Juan had no idea that Julian will do this now. She always thought that he will ask later, maybe when he was done with school but never thought that he will pick such an important day of his life for a proposal.
Unknowingly, Juan began to tear up, she was so touched and her heart was so warm she wanted to pounce on him.
“I know that by now you should have guessed my intentions towards you. I don’t have much to my name but my heart is fully occupied by you. I want to love you every day and shower you with all the love, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, protect you and bear all the burdens with you. So, Juanita Keogh, will you marry me?” Julian was so nervous as he made his confession but his heart
was very sincere and he hoped that she will see that.
Juan didn’t need to be asked twice, or go home and think about it, life was too short for others but she still needed to live it and make a family sooner. And it was a good thing that she and Julian’s hearts were beating at the same frequency.
“Umm…I will marry you. Just don’t regret it in the future,” she smiled as tears rolled down her cheeks.
Julian was taken back for a moment before the words registered in his head and quickly slid that diamond ring on Juan’s finger. It had taken him a while to get the perfect ring for her and he was glad that it fit her perfectly.
He stood in his two feet and hugged her tightly. Their hearts were beating against each other and were in sync since a great deal had been sealed, Julian was brave and sealed those pink lips with his.
The two shared a passionate kiss and only parted reluctantly when Eve called out for them. Juan looked at Julian with a flushing face and disappeared to the bathroom to touch on her makeup.
After making sure that she was okay, she admired the diamond ring that wasn’t too fancy but suited her perfectly and flashed a smile.
“Mom and dad, I finally did it,” she murmured to herself before leaving to join Julian.
“Let’s go and join the party and we can continue where we stopped at earlier,” Julian winked at Juan as he led her out of the room.
When Eve looked at the smiling couple, her eyes quickly landed on that sparkling ring and all her worries disappeared, her son has finally done something right.
