Chapter 11
Jasper's pov :
Lsabella fainted in my arms, and only now did I notice her withered face, she looked like a rose that had lost its delicate color. My hand was close to her nose, and I felt only a faint breath.
I admit I had a catchable moment of panic as I picked up Lsabella in my arms and ran straight to the castle.
"Doctor!"
"Miss Lsabella's condition is a bit serious, she has fallen into a feverish coma."
I opened my arms to wrap one of her small, cold hands, trying to share her pain. This woman with fierce eyes, who would never bow down to me, was now squeezing her eyes shut in pain.
She was not sleeping peacefully because of her illness, and her eyelashes were trembling slightly.
"How to save? You can say whatever you want."
"I can't guarantee it, but whether Miss Lsabella will make it through depends on tonight."
My conscience, which might still have a little bit left, felt the pain at this moment.
Why would she be so vulnerable when not long ago she was not afraid of death to contradict me in front of everyone? She stared at that time as if she was separated from me by a blood feud.
So her strength and arrogance are just camouflaged? She hid all her weaknesses.
This kind of character tends to live a hard life, just like...me.
But she said I wouldn't believe it, and remorse flooded my heart that I hadn't felt in many years, and I admit that I did blindly misjudge her.
But she was challenging my authority like crazy, and I had no control over myself.
I took Lsabella's hand, and when I looked up again, it was already dawn.
I had been sitting here all night.
"How is she?"
I rubbed my brow, I was a little tired from all the things that had happened in the last few days.
"It's good news, Miss Lsabella's fever has gone down."
"Why hasn't she woken up yet?"
"Miss Lsabella's illness has dragged on for too long, and her recovery will be slower."
It was my fault, I didn't ask any further.
After a day and a night had passed, Lsabella's tone did recover a bit, and I lifted a few strands of hair from her forehead.
The flame-like red hair was well pinned behind her ear, reflecting her originally pale face even paler.
I knew something in my heart had changed completely.
Lsabella's pov :
I opened my eyes again and all I remember is the dazzling daylight and a warm embrace.
As soon as I tilted my head, I saw Jasper.
There was no particular expression on his face, and I don't know how long he'd been here, but I recalled in a flash the injustices he'd done to me.
"How do you feel?"
I sneered coldly, "I feel like I'm alive."
Jasper's movements paused for a moment but took my sneer wholeheartedly and he said nothing.
"You get some rest, I'll leave you to it."
I propped myself up and sat up, watching his departing back, and I noticed that something had changed in him, but couldn't say exactly where.
"Miss Lsabella? How do you feel now?"
Kyra and Matthew came to see me, and they brought me lunch.
"I feel fine, except for some discomfort in my knee."
Kyra lifted the covers to check my knee, and with a heartfelt look on her face, she said.
"You've been on your knees for three whole days and nights, and although I have no position, I urge you to..."
"I know," I took her hand in a backhanded grip: "I understand everything you want to say, but I also have circumstances you don't know about."
"That's good... Mr. Jasper watched over you for a long time before you woke up, and he punished Silas... to put it mildly, he's an Alpha after all, and your mate, so you have to be considerate of him."
"Wait, he punished Silas, why would he do that?"
"I'm not really sure, anyway Silas was taken away from Gamma, supposedly because he offended you earlier? And caused Miss Olivia to be injured?"
So it was for Olivia, then that makes sense.
Jasper acknowledged my MATE status but not his Luna, so our time together would really only be as short as two months.
I'll keep a safe distance from Olivia for the rest of the time, and that should be fine.
I'm afraid I'm not going to meddle anymore and let cocky, arrogant Jasper save his lover.
I rested for only a short time before attempting to get off the ground. Being an Alpha is no way to let yourself be crippled.
Holding onto the railing, I slowly walked down the path outside the garden, next to all the maids who were whispering sideways.
"Are you guys so idle?"
My voice was not loud, but clear enough, and as soon as the words were spoken, everyone around me quickened their pace and left.
I found a bench and sat down, rubbing my knees, I felt upset for no reason.
Wyatt stopped in front of me, he looked at me very unexpectedly and I noticed that he had a freshly picked flower in his hand. "Miss Lsabella? You came out on your own?"
I had a bad feeling and I inclined my head to look around the corner of the pathway and there, indeed, stood Jasper.
I didn't know how he looked at me, but I didn't want to see him.
I immediately stood up, "Yes, I came out on my own, but I'll be going back soon."
My injured legs were naturally no match for someone else's two long, healthy legs, and Jasper caught up with me as he grabbed my arm, forcing me to turn around and face his face.
"What are you running for?"
"I'm trying to hide from you."
Jasper didn't expect me to be so blunt, and his eyebrows knitted together again, "What are you hiding from me for."
"I'm afraid my knees are ruined."
He subconsciously swept a glance at my legs, as if he saw the scars on my knees through my pants, and his eyes surprisingly showed a hint of remorse and regret: "I'm sorry."
I hesitated a little, would my attitude be a little too bad, I heard he took care of me for a long time after I fainted.
But I'd been through enough already, I didn't have to risk trusting him anymore, did I?
"It's okay, I don't care. Can you move out of the way now? I'm going back to my room."
My wrist was still in Jasper's hand, and I pulled my hand out hard, only to have him hold it firmly.
Jasper looked like he had something to say, but didn't know how to say it. His gray pupils were even darker at the moment, and he stared at me intently, as if he was trying to draw me in.
"Sir!"
The gray vortex was interrupted, and a panicked voice came from behind us.
The person who came I knew, he was Beta of Blue Moon Pack, I think his name was Declan.
The moment he saw me, he swallowed back the words he was about to say.
"That...something's happened!"
Maybe it's my illusion, the look in Declan's eyes contained a deep meaning that was hard to understand, did I have something to do with what he wanted to report?
Jasper released my hand: "Wyatt! Take Miss Lsabella back."
"I don't need a ride."
Jasper didn't even bother with my objection as he took a few long strides and disappeared around the corner.
"Miss Lsabella?" Wyatt looked at me cautiously, he really still had an impression of my fury.
"Don't follow me."
"But..."
I feigned anger and glared at Wyatt, "Do you want me to say that again?"
"No, no," Wyatt waved his hands in a panic: "I followed you to bring you back the flowers, which Mr. Jasper prepared especially for you."
This is a bouquet of chamomile and Eustoma, Wyatt stuffed into my arms, I did not even react, dumbfounded, and hugged.
The fresh flowers and fruits were still dewy, and I didn't know how to accept the tenderness in my arms, which I thought at first was obviously for Olivia.
I felt a certain piece of my heart loosen.
"He...why did he give me flowers?"
My voice was small, but Wyatt heard me.
"To wish you a speedy recovery, Mr. Jasper is very concerned about your health."
But wasn't Jasper the reason I got hurt? He's such a contradictory person.
Xavier's Pov:
After I ended the psychic link with Lsabella, I was in a state of anxiety. I was worried that she would encounter harm during the rescue, and I was worried that she wouldn't be able to protect herself.
But I didn't have a single reason to disobey her orders.
The nightmare made me sit up straight from the bed, sweat dripping down on the quilt, haloing a small pattern.
I glanced at the time and it was already dawn.
I got out of bed and poured myself a glass of water, there was no need to go back to sleep in. But the real pain in my heart hadn't subsided but was deepening.
My heart jerked a few more times, and my mind was filled with the figure of Lsabella from my nightmare. I suddenly had a horrible premonition that my current state was Beta to Alpha induction and that my Alpha was severely damaged.
After driving for a day and a night, I finally arrived at Blue Moon Pack.
It was a place full of painful memories for me, but my Lsabella was still here.
"I'm Lsabella's Beta! I want to see my Alpha!"
The warrior outside the Blood Moon Pack stopped me.
"No, Miss Lsabella came here as a MATE, you, like Blood Moon Pack's Beta, have no business entering our territory."
I'm going to explode with anger, I've obviously arrived at the entrance of Blue Moon Pack, and I know Lsabella is inside, but I have no way to see her.
"Did you just have an earthquake and Lsabella got hurt?"
The two warriors looked at each other, "How do you know we had an earthquake?"
"We can't reveal Miss Lsabella's situation."
A good one can't reveal, it's clear that something is wrong.
I took two steps back, I couldn't tolerate Lsabella being hurt in a place I didn't know about at all, she didn't have anyone around her that she could trust, what was she going through right now?
"So what do I have to be to get in now?"
"An invited guest, or a member of our Blood Moon Pack clan."
Blood Moon Pack's clan? I looked up to the sky, feeling sad and funny, is this the Goddess of Fate's mercy on me now?
After a long time, my eyes looked straight ahead, the coldness in my eyes after a long disappointment: "Tell your Alpha and the three elders that Elvis, who fell off the cliff ten years ago, has returned."
