Chapter 61

Lsabella's pov :
With two glasses of wine in hand, I met Jasper at the lake as I had hoped.
He had actually sent for some fishing equipment and was catching fish at the lake.
"You're so patient, how many did you catch?"
I looked into the basket beside Jasper and there were some nice little fish in it.
"How come the fish you have here are not big enough, you only caught a few small ones."
I gave him a light kick towards his basket, "Fishing for fish in my lake and still being so picky, why don't you mind your own bad skills."
Jasper smiled sarcastically and surprisingly did not refute my words.
I sat down next to him but didn't know what to do, I hadn't harmed anyone in such a way, I usually just saw blood, so I was a little nervous.
"They've quarantined you out of the Alpha meeting, aren't you worried?"
Jasper didn't answer my question directly, but craned his head to look at me, his gaze heavy, again as if he was thinking about the implications of my words.
"Why are you worrying about me now, but I'm still quite happy."
"I'm not worrying about you, with my pile of wolves and all these Alpha's coming after me, where do I have time to think about anything else."
"It'll be over soon, and you'll have time to think about something else."
I automatically skipped over the ambiguous meaning of Jasper's words and instead pondered whether he knew something, or else why he was so sure of the meaning contained in his words.
"Don't you want to give me a cup? Or do you want to drink both cups?"
Jasper pointed to the cup I was holding in one hand, and I realized that I had been sitting in this strange position next to Jasper for a long time.
I hesitated, but handed out the one in my right hand: "It's not our Blood Moon Pack wine, and it's not our problem if it's not good."
Jasper laughed softly and took the glass without hesitation, then took a large sip.
"Where am I in the mood for wine tasting right now, it's okay to have wine and drink."
I watched him take another big sip and the glass was almost at the bottom, I bit my lip, instead of knowing what to do.
"Oh, I forgot to toast to you," Jasper said as he handed me the glass with just a little wine left in it and clinked it gently against the glass I had raised in mid-air.
I raised my eyes at the sound of the crisp glass collision and saw me in Jasper's eyes.
I regretted it a little, even though Jasper had done a lot of things to hurt me too, but I didn't know if I could use that as a reason to put my mind at ease.
"Wish us what?" Jasper came a little closer, and the me in his eyes became clearer: "May we see each other like this more often, what do you think?"
With a dull gaze, I nodded mechanically, then took a sip of wine as well.
"I'll leave you to it," I stood up, "I still have to go back to the pile of paperwork."
Jasper didn't stop me, he sat there quietly, he was still looking at me when I turned around and waved towards me.
I wasn't lying to Jasper, I was really going back to take care of the wolf pack's business.
I know that the Alpha meeting that excluded Jasper actually did not let me go, if they investigate very carefully, they will soon find out the strange trajectory of Xavier's actions, and probably the witch's affairs, and it is only a matter of time to find out all this.
So it's just this Jasper thing that's helping me stall for time, and if I don't agree, it's my wolves that will suffer.
But I was puzzled by the fact that they wanted to push Jasper down, because they just told me that Jasper came here this time and didn't bring a few warriors from his own wolf pack.
So taking him out here, near my territory, was the best time to do it, and the medicine they gave me would be able to inhibit Jasper's actions.
So they were going to do it soon?
I did what they said, but not exactly. The concentration in the medicine Jasper drank was reduced, and he should have returned to normal soon after the drug took effect.
I didn't want to let the other Alpha's have their way, as Jasper would be most beneficial to me as the leader of the Alpha meeting.
I rechecked the Blood Moon Pack's fortifications, especially in the North Woods. The ceremony site was already set up, just waiting for the moon tonight, so nothing could go wrong.
Xavier arrived at my side just about halfway through, he was still quite bandaged but insisted he had recovered.
I exhorted my people one last time.
"You must remember that even if the territory falls tonight and I am captured, it does not matter, you must block the road decisively and hold on to the North Woods, the success of the ritual of Noe is our only way out."
"I know all that, but I'm still here, how could I let you be kidnapped?"
Xavier came over, as if sensing my questioning of him.
"I'm not questioning you, but it's the combined armies of the Alpha Conference out there, and they have almost as many fighters as our wolf pack has in total, I'm just in case."
"You don't have to worry so much," Xavier held my hand tightly, "even if there is an accident, we still have other support, I and I think I've become stronger, I will protect you and the."
The joint army was stationed on the borderline as if it was stationed on my nerves, and I was tortured by them to forget everything.
It was only after this that it occurred to me that Xavier had been back for so long and I still didn't know exactly what he had gone through on the plains and how he had come back with all his wounds.
"What test did Nora give you? I heard it was two rogues who sent you back?"
"Oh, you mean before," Xavier looked indifferent: "It's just a wheel fight, I'm now the temporary leader of the rogues in the plains, and they're ambushed a few kilometers away at my disposal."
"So you cut me out of your life a long time ago? You never considered me? Will you look back at me, I just need you to look at me so I can continue to help you."
"So you cut me out of your life a long time ago? You never thought about me? Can you look back at me, I just need you to look at me so I can continue to help you."
The words wheel warfare were already able to give me heartburn, and the more Xavier looked this unconcerned, the more my heart ached.
I heard that there would be ten wheel battles, so wouldn't he have rushed back to Blood Moon Pack immediately after finishing the ten battles?
Xavier sensed my mood swings, he gently rubbed my cheek and said softly, "It really doesn't hurt, I can't feel the pain when I think about you."
"How can it not hurt?" My voice trembled with heartache as I cupped Xavier's hand and gently blew on the gauze wrapped palm, "It really doesn't hurt anymore?"
"It still hurts a little, but you can kiss me and it'll be fine."
I didn't even bother to check if there were people around, so I stood on my tiptoes as I gently sucked on his lips, leaving a loving kiss between my lips and teeth.
"I forgot to tell you, I awakened the bloodline, is really become stronger, you have to believe that I want to protect you."
I snuggled into Xavier's arms and listened quietly for a short while to the sound of his heartbeat, close to my ear, one after another very powerfully.
"How about we each take a step back? I trust you to protect me while you protect yourself. If you break the contract, I can break it too."
Xavier pinched my cheek, "You really don't take any shit, do you, Miss Alpha? I'll do whatever you want."
