Chapter 55

Xavier's pov :
I had heard at an early age of the plains in the middle of the Eastern Continent, where several wolf packs' territories meet. But the number of wolves in close proximity caused such confusion that no one wanted to send warriors to patrol the plains, which became a rogue's paradise.
So it wasn't difficult for me to reach the plains, but it was my test to get the moonstone from Nora and bring it safely back to the Blood Moon Pack.
As soon as I set foot in the territory, I was spotted by the rogues.
They were hiding, perhaps not even hiding, in the low bushes on either side of the road; they were simply standing there, watching me indifferently with glowing wolf eyes.
But that was the extent of their observation and testing of me, and as I gradually entered the centre of the plain, none of the rogues rushed up to fight me. From what I knew of the wolves' habits, they were supposed to be belligerent, and I was not sure what the reason was for this situation.
I followed the hints Nora had given me and made my way to a small grove of trees on the plain, where strangely enough the rogues who had followed me stopped.
Nora was sitting on a rock in the centre of this grove, and she sat there as if she had been waiting for me specifically, quietly, and for who knows how long.
But she had tossed us around for so long with the moonstone she was holding that I had little patience left.
"You gave Jasper the fake moonstone?" I picked a fight with Nora straight away, "Because he failed the test? You have the real moonstone in your possession, don't you?"
"Of course, young man." Nora stood up from the stone, "Not only did your brother fail, he wouldn't admit his failure, and in his annoyance he injured me, and I had no choice but to give him the fake moonstone. That stone doesn't have the great magic of the moonstone, but it's considered high quality among gems, and it's not something I would just take out of hand."
I had no other witnesses here either, so I would have to take Nora's word for it, but going by my impression of Jasper, he might actually be able to rush something like that.
"So what's my test this time? You're not setting me up to die half-dead and then getting Lsabella to take the moonstone for my life, are you?"
"Why are you two brothers so hostile to me?"
"On the far side, the feud between the werewolf and the witch has been going on for a long time, and on the near side, you just punked me not too long ago, don't you think I should be more wary of you?"
Nora shook her head straight at my words, "These are the results of your destiny-directed actions, they just happen to be witnessed by me. And if you manage to succeed in this test, you will surely thank me."
I was now in a position where I could only take this witch's word for it, not that this witch's word was worthy of my belief, so I did not take her words with a grain of salt.
"If I succeeded, wouldn't I just get the moonstone? Then I might indeed thank you, after all Lsabella and the Blood Moon Pack have been surrounded by the combined armies."
"No, it's more than that." Nora held her crystal ball up to my face. "Didn't your wolf tell you anything? Like that you have a special bloodline."
I was alerted in a flash, had Lsabella guessed? This witch really hadn't chosen us at random, she'd been planning something for a long time.
"What do you know about it? What do you want?"
"Don't be so hostile to me, young man." Nora retreated back to the stone, gazing fascinatingly into the crystal ball she held, but I could see nothing in it.
"Though I am a witch and have thought on the opposite side of the werewolf spectrum in my youth, I realized long ago that I am limited and that all my efforts now follow the prophecy of the crystal ball, and the time and place of your bloodline awakening in the prophecy is here."
"What is that? What is a bloodline awakening?"
I seemed to have talked about something similar in my discussion with Geb, in short all I knew was that there was another force inside me which also ran amok inside me on the day my MATE relationship awakened and nearly killed me.
So this power is the power of the bloodline? What about after my awakening, will something happen? Would I become stronger?
"Yes, this is another powerful power that werewolves inherited from the Moon Goddess, this bloodline can be present with the Moonstone, I guess the next heyday belonging to werewolves is coming really soon."
It was still strange to hear a witch portray the future of the werewolves in this way. But I wasn't even in the mood to pay attention to the direction of the situation on the East Continent right now. If anything went wrong with Lsabella and the Blood Moon Pack, what did that future have to do with me?
"That's something for later, I don't really care right now, so just tell me what the test is this time and hurry up and get started."
Hearing my words, Nora gave a smile that was hard to decipher, "You are to complete the rogue's wheel battle and become the new commander of the rogues on these plains."
"What?" I could hardly believe it, "Are you in collusion with the rogues of these plains too? Do they all take orders from you already?"
"Not at my command," Nora raised her crystal ball again, "they are simply at the mercy of their own destiny."
Lsabella's pov :
At eight in the morning, I arrived at the border of my wolf pack's territory on time and entered the tent that the other Alpha's had already prepared for the Alpha meeting.
The moment I entered the tent, I was fully aware of the Alpha's who had come to interrogate me today.
All of the Alpha's who had taken part in the Moonstone operation were present, except for Aaron of course, who no longer dared to appear in front of Jasper or me, knowing that although we were still on friendly terms on the surface, by then either one of us was actually trying to get him killed behind his back.
Felix looked at me with a stony face as he sat down, he didn't seem to expect me to do something like this.
"Is it true that Miss Lsabella took the moonstone? I didn't and I only heard Mr Jasper's testimony alone, which may have been a bit one-sided."
Jasper, who had been named, was sitting next to me and was one of the suspects being "interrogated".
Noticing my gaze, Jasper turned his head to look at me, but with an innocent expression on his face, "I didn't say anything bad about you, I just recounted what we experienced, it's all in their own interpretation."
I didn't turn around, but I could already guess the complicated expressions on the other Alpha's faces.
But Jasper had said last night that it was his own inability to do anything. It didn't matter to me then, it was just a delay anyway.
"I didn't take it, I just wore it, there's a jewellery designer, a maid's handling in the meantime, the Blue Moon Pack and a possible undercover agent infiltrating the rogues, how can I be counted when so many possibilities have yet to be confirmed?"
Mr Eric flung a dozen photos on the table and I glanced at them, it was Northwoods.
What a way to go, was our little non-threatening Blood Moon Pack under such close scrutiny?
"These photos show Blood Moon Pack having a big ritual on the night of the full moon? Couldn't it be something to do with the moonstone?"
But they hadn't photographed the moonstone, it was just a trick on me.
I gave a deliberately surprised look, "Where do we Blood Moon Pack pose a threat, which wolf pack picked the trouble to take this? We can't even pray for the blessing of the Moon Goddess on a full moon anymore?"
A few of the Alpha's looked at each other, there really wasn't any crucial evidence left, they were all just guessing now.
Jasper, the unafraid one, continued to arch fire, "Indeed, everyone's wolves have ritual activities on moonlit nights, I believe, and we have them in the Blue Moon Pack."
Gilbert thought he had caught a loophole, "Yeah, didn't Miss Lsabella have her Luna ceremony just before? There's a good chance that you and Mr Jasper are colluding to deceive us."
Jasper seemed satisfied that Gilbert had tied the two of us together, and he all but smiled in satisfaction as I watched.
"We had a falling out and it's been okay for a long time."
Mr Gilbert didn't believe me, he didn't think that could happen, "How could it? Over what could it be that you two fell out just after the Luan ceremony? Is it possible that you're deliberately messing up the relationship so you can deceive us?"
"It's possible." Jasper, one of the suspects, actually echoed Gilbert's suspicions about the two of us.
I rolled my eyes towards Jasper.
Mr. Felix, thoroughly impatient, looked at Jasper and questioned him seriously, "How can you treat something so big and related to Mr. Jasper like this? Where is your sense of responsibility for hosting the Alpha meeting in the first place?"
Jasper stared coldly at the apparently serious Alpha's in front of him and said, "I am too preoccupied with the pursuit of Miss Lsabella to manage this."
