Chapter 78
Lsabella's pov
I handed out an olive branch to the Blue Moon Pack in the name of the Blood Moon Pack Alpha, hoping to visit the Blue Moon Pack along with my Beta.
They understand who my beta refers to, especially Mr. Charles, he can't wait for Xavier to hurry to the Blue Moon tribe, so he can still have a chance to convince Xavier, although Xavier will definitely not agree.
I also tried to ask Xavier's opinion recently, because the problem I considered was that the Blue Moon Pack obviously can't find a suitable successor now, and they also have a lot of conflicts with other wolf packs, and they must not be able to run without a strong successor.
So would Xavier just stand by and watch this happen? That is after all his parents' wolf pack, although he has long belonged to our Blood Moon Pack, but will the emotions maintained by the bloodline make Xavier's heart soft? Would he temporarily serve as the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack if it were possible?
"I will not leave you under any circumstances, if they really want me to take such a position, they should treat you and me well from the beginning."
Xavier's tone was very bland, but God God was firm.
I wouldn't bring up such a question again, I already understood what Xavier meant.
"Then how about we just go back and look around and return the same day we go?"
Xavier took me in his arms as soon as he could and dropped a kiss on my cheek.
"All yours."
We soon set off, it was an ordinary early morning, but Xavier and I were certainly in a different state of mind than before, this was our first visit to another wolf pack after the incident with the moonstone was over, and this pack was very special to both Xavier and me.
The good thing was that there would be no more forcing and separation.
I leaned on Xavier's shoulder and slept, and when I woke up, I had already arrived at the Blue Moon Pack.
This time the Blue Moon Pack welcomed us with just too much courtesy, the elders all stood at the gate of the territory, but only two.
I suddenly had some doubts, Elder Charles was the least likely to be absent from this occasion.
Elder Andrei saw my confusion.
"It is unfortunate news, and we feel very sorry, that Elder Charles was assassinated and killed two days ago."
"What?!"
Xavier and I immediately looked at each other, although his enemies would not be few, betraying something as big as the Blue Moon Pack, once word got out, every single person in this wolf pack would have an incentive to kill him.
"What a shame," I pulled out my diplomatic manners, "Any luck finding the knife killer and consoling Elder Charles' dead soul?"
"No," Elder Allen Chang answered my question, "We would like to close the case as soon as possible, but nay, there are no clues."
This matter is indeed big or small for us, but for now it is still a private matter of the Blue Moon Pack, Xavier and I would have liked to draw a line in the sand with the Blue Moon Pack, so it is better not to interfere in such matters.
I nodded: "Thank you for your hard work."
The pleasantries ended there, and Xavier told the elders why we were here.
Alan and Andre were quite reasonable, or perhaps our status is different from before, the two elders very simply agreed to our request.
"Will you go and see for yourselves? Or shall I send someone to lead the way for you?"
Xavier answered the question for me: "We can just go by ourselves, I still have a little memory of my past."
I nodded towards the two elders and left with Xavier.
We went straight to that one apple tree.
I actually wouldn't have cared about an ordinary apple tree in the courtyard during the time I spent with the Blue Moon Pack, and I think Xavier but it was too late to care, so neither of us was sure if the tree was still there.
Following the map in Xavier's childhood diary, we braced ourselves under a tree.
Could it be this tree?
We should go find a gardener to borrow a tool, and just then, I suddenly heard someone's name being called.
"Miss Lsabella!"
It was Matthew and his mother, Mrs. Kayla, who must have gotten the message.
"Miss Lsabella, it is a pleasure to see you again."
Kyra came closer and shook hands with me and Xavier respectively.
This meeting was already very different, the Blue Moon Pack's Alpha all carried on to the next term, and we all had the tacit understanding to automatically omit the unpleasant experience.
I squatted down and put my arm around Matthew, who hadn't seen me in a while and had grown taller.
"So how are you these days? Can you carry a basket of herbs by yourself now?"
"Yes," Matthew puffed out his chest proudly, "I can already help mom and dad with a lot of work."
"That's great!" I rubbed Matthew's little head and smiled at each other with Mrs. Kayla.
I turned around and Xavier was watching us from the sidelines. His gaze was very soft, like he was looking at what a heartwarming picture.
I stood up and put my arm around him, "You're still in a good mood?"
"Of course, because you're by my side."
Although the answer brought a smile to my face, I shook my head toward Xavier, who knew that was not what I was asking.
But Xavier only gave a mysterious smile toward me.
"Is there something going on here, you two? Do you need our help."
"Ah, need." I accepted Mrs. Kyra's kind offer without hesitation, "We're actually trying to find the treasure box that Xavier buried here as a child and need some tools for digging up the earth."
