Chapter 40

Jasper's pov :
Vincent lied to me.
I said I would kill him afterwards, and that plan hasn't changed.
Lsabella is missing now, but judging from the fact that she ended Aaron's Beta in one fell swoop, the traitor in our midst is undoubtedly Aaron.
I have long felt that there is a big problem with his ascendancy, but I did not expect him to have so much guts.
Vincent's inhibitor should be moved by them, right? Most likely Vincent's previous slumber was also a fake.
I had planned to cover up some of the fronts so that I could successfully qualify for the preservation of the Moonstone after it was over, and then I could fulfill Lsabella's wish.
But it turns out that they have been counting on me from the beginning?
But I wasn't unprepared either.
I had already notified Declan with the mind link, and the warriors outside had decided to take a conservative approach and stop entering the crevice for now.
What a bunch of cowards, but thanks to this choice of theirs, I can mobilize one of my squads lurking nearby. It seems that this moonstone, it's still up to me to take the field.
"So Mr. Jasper still won't tell us the secret of the moonstone?"
Vincent insisted that I was the only person on the East Continent who knew the secret of the Moonstone, I was too lazy to explain to him, so I might as well use him for a while.
"Yes, but your expression is not accurate enough, the ones who really know the secret of the Moonstone are the three old men in our Blue Moon Pack."
Vincent and his inside man looked at each other.
"Are you talking about the three elders in your pack?"
"Yes. They are three old guys who have been strictly guarding the secret, sort of holding on to it for half their lives."
I wasn't the least bit vain about telling lies, that's the funny thing about being an Alpha, you can game a lot of people on whether the desires of their hearts will force them to believe the simple lies.
"So what Jasper is saying is that you don't know the specifics either?"
I sat down on a rock by the campfire with a big grin: "Why do you guys always ask me? I'd also like to know if you guys are in a position to ask me."
"Go ahead."
"Is it true that you guys have the moonstone? Why do I feel that just the two of you can't make this happen? Who is the person behind you?"
"You don't need to know that, let's cooperate first... Isn't Mr. Jasper worried about his situation?"
What situation? The situation where I get my hand grazed by an arrow tainted with inhibitor and then I'm alone and controlled by two hooligans?
I'm not worried but I have to act like I am. I smiled slightly: "Okay, I'll link my elders now, but you also have to show me the moonstone, if you don't have that, get your superiors to meet me."
Vincent looked at me indifferently, "I will give you the appropriate information, Mr. Jasper better hurry up and start."
I closed my eyes.
I was indeed mind-linking now, but I was linking to my Beta, who was telling me that the Alpha's out there were considering whether they could pass over the top of the cliffs on either side.
That's the bad thing about combined forces, everyone doesn't want to be at the front of the line, no one wants to face this evenly split result but make the biggest sacrifice.
So the final situation is that no one wants to go on, especially I, the leader, was also held hostage, but they know that Aaron has turned against the water?
Forget it, I don't care, right now it's better to think about me first.
The team supporting me has already received the message, they will do it together after I have recovered my transformed form.
All I have to do now is stall for time. I won't even contact the three old men, so I'll just have to make up those things myself.
"Near the moon," I closed my eyes tightly, but spoke in a low and serious voice, "the highest lake on the East Continent, the full moon."
"And then what?"
Vincent came over and asked anxiously.
"I'll tell you the rest after I want you to take me to see the moonstone."
Vincent and Mia both looked at me at the same time, their eyes conveying their anger at not having a solution.
I smiled with great indifference, knowing that they would eventually have to compromise, they had little other leverage in their hands.
"Okay," as I expected, Vincent let go after a long silence: "Mia! Watch him, I'll be right there."
Vincent went towards the depths of this valley, was there anything else there? Is that where the moonstone was placed?
Lsabella's pov.
I don't have to believe the prophecy of a witch, whether their news is good or bad.
But I don't know if there is anyone else on the East Continent who can relate to my feelings, that is, you are not even absolutely sure yourself, but for some reason or mission, you are self-propelled to take this difficult path. There are people around you who encourage you, but after hearing such words too many times, you also feel that he is just trying to make you feel better.
And then today, someone who is completely different from my tribe and even my race told me that you will succeed, and it was such a special experience that it was able to break through all my defenses and enter my heart, even though it came from a witch.
Of course, none of this would show in my head, and I pulled out my acting skills as an Alpha:.
"And?" I was so calm that I seemed to be uninterested in a bunch of Nora's previous words: "Or should I ask you directly, where is the Moonstone? I want to get it."
Nora didn't seem to care about my feedback; she was still in the midst of her memories of the first half of her life.
"That's why I feel like I'm actually still a weak existence, I've put in so much effort, there's no way to change the trajectory of the future, and I've now decided to move forward on that trajectory."
"So what? What did the prophecy tell you?"
"I do know where the moonstone is, but it needs to be left to those two brothers to get it."
So doesn't that mean that Jasper should come and get it? Do I tell Xavier to come over now? It's simply too late.
"Why?" But I was definitely not convinced in my heart: "If there are three people in the prophecy, then why am I not qualified to get the moonstone?"
I stood up: "Then I'll go inform Jasper? You don't want to go back on your word."
As soon as I lifted the tent, I saw Xavier. This sudden encounter put me in such a trance that I thought I had misread it.
But the man across the room was undoubtedly Xavier, sitting on a stone bench in front of the witch's fire, and when he saw me come out, he scrambled to his feet.
But Xavier looked like he had just been in a bad fight, and his form swayed a little, barely holding on.
I took a few steps to his front and held him up.
"What happened? How did you get in here?"
Xavier shook his head, and he gave a very contented smile.
"Got it, Lsabella, happy?"
"Wh...what?"
Before I could react at once, I saw Xavier take out the small cloth bag from his pocket and stuff it into my hand.
This cloth bag is a little weight, my hand holding it has a little slight trembling, I seem to guess what is in the cloth bag, but I do not dare to confirm.
Xavier kept a satisfied smile on his face as he looked into my eyes and then nodded to encourage me to open the bag.
As if I had received a permission and an assurance, I carefully opened the package.
Unexpectedly but expectedly, I saw a jewel with a soft moonlight luster, which was lying quietly in my hand.
"This is..." I snapped my head up to look at Xavier, but didn't dare to say the answer I already had in mind.
Xavier smiled and nodded.
"Tell me are you happy now?"
"I'm happy, but..."
Xavier put his finger on my lips as he stopped my question.
"Just be happy, nothing else matters."
How did Xavier get in here, and how did he get the moonstone from the witch? And why is he in such a tired state now? He looked like he'd been in a life-or-death duel, but I noticed some shallow scratches on his body.
"Come on, let's get out of here."
Xavier pushed me and was about to lead me away.
I turned around and noticed Nora, who had also stepped out of the tent, and shouted towards her, "You tell me what's going on here? What did you do to Xavier?"
Nora didn't answer my question, she shook her head: "Why do you guys have so many questions? Wait until the moment it happens, won't we know everything?"
What kind of sophistry is this? I was a little angry and anxious, so I turned around and chased after Nora.
"You witch, can you..."
Suddenly, a loud sound of falling behind me made me stop, and I looked in the direction of Xavier, and saw him fall to the ground in pain, his face was white as if he was about to die.
My heart almost stopped for a moment.
"Xavier!" I immediately rushed to his front: "How are you? Where are you hurt?"
Nora's voice was very cold: "He was poisoned by the blood vine, and without an antidote he will die soon. Come make a choice, I love to see people make a choice, the moonstone or the antidote to save Xavier, choose one of the two."
I looked at Nora viciously, regretting that I hadn't put the knife to her neck earlier: "I won't let you go!"
"It doesn't matter," Nora shrugged, "you'd better make a decision now."
